How do you figure out how high you can climb a tree?
Thanks for asking! It's a lot to explain, so bear with me. I'm not trying to brag, (so forgive me if this sounds boastful), but in general I have a good sense of distance. A while ago I became interested in how tall trees were, and I guessed their height by imagining what 6 ft would look like next to a tree, and 12 ft, 24 ft, ect, ect. More recently, a 100-ft tape measure helped me out in measuring trees, and I learned that my guesses were not far from the truth after all... I shall post videos about this topic of measuring trees soon.

Yep! It was fun when the wind picked up, because the tree started to sway. I used to be afraid when I was in a tree and the wind picked up, but after watching many trees survive winds much stronger than this, I know that there's nothing to fear.

Try this same system but clip a foot loop/long sling/something to stand on to that bottom hole on your ascender. That way you can slide the ascender up and then stand up fully, take in on your Grigri and repeat. It’s a lot more efficient
You're right; good tip. For some reason I climb the RADS without a foot loop; but climbing like that can be difficult, especially with no branches to step on. I tried it once with the foot loop, but I need more practice using it, so I'll climb with it more often.
You can do this with just your harness, rope & knots same system

Yeah... The tall tree in the middle of the video (00:16) got struck by lightning several years ago; now it's slowly dying. Luckily, there was no fire.

Me too! I'm not sure if cicadas have emerged yet; I probably have heard them without knowing what it was.
