thing is I enjoy heavily modding my Minecraft game, but I select mods that all build on each other either through deliberate compatibility or coincidence they end up forming a gameplay symbiosis that leads to a more cohesive yet still large and exciting experience.

Can I ask how I old you are ? Over or under 30? Just a minor example, if you’re a kid, and have a expensive gaming PC, you’re probably pretty pretty privileged and more power to you, but yeah of course your gonna have fun as a 20 year old with something we as kids could have only dreamed of. Everything is relative: And I agree with you totally ! “Try something new; variety is the spice of life.” You’re 100% correct, and age doesn’t matter. And I disagree with the fact that last games were better, I’m 28, and I think they’re still the same. And like you said and I, here, everything is relative, So yes games as kid were good because they’re nostalgic, but games nowadays may guide you more and have some slight differences. But games are still good, And I do agree with the micro-transactions suck… but that doesn’t ruin gaming entirely. Loved you’re video !

My friend made me play this on call with her and I just finished it yesterday. It was the most I've ever been emotionally attached to a game. In the end, I chose to sacrifice Chloe. For me, it wasn't just a simple trolley problem. I loved Chloe much more than the people in town, even though I did better than them and saw they were good people at heart. But rather I viewed it as a choice between whose character arc I complete. I sobbed at the sacrifice Chloe ending and tried to reassure myself that this was the right ending. Max smiles at the end, hinting that she accepted Chloe's death, a huge theme of the game. Chloe gets to do something really impactful, proving that she can be selfless. But although I kept trying to reassure myself, I went to bed last night sick to my stomach over my choice. My friend has had a similar experience to what you talk about in the video. She always decides to keep Chloe alive. However, in the end, I've turned against my choice. If I were in Max's shoes, I wouldn't be able to make the decision to kill my lover. I think many people like to think of themselves as a selfless person, and I do too. But there are moments where I think it's almost impossible not to be selfish. The main point that tipped me over to Bae instead of Bay was the thought that in my choice, Chloe died alone without any knowledge of her sacrifice and Max's love towards her. I am glad though that I chose to sacrifice Chloe in my first playthrough. If I hadn't done that, I don't think this game would have had this much of an impact on me as it is right now.

really liked the analysis on the endings. On my first play through I actually went with saving Bay because less people would lose their lives and it felt I picked the right choice even though the ending will forever live rent free in my head after seeing Max sad and alone at the Lighthouse. But after playing through other LIS titles it feels like we get more information about the outcome, like LIS2 and True Colors and we know pros and cons on what happened after each ending and how it affected characters like David & Steph and more people with some interesting Dialogue changes + journal items depending on if Bay is standing or not. And at that point when I looked on videos side to side on if you picked Bae VS Bay it felt like I actually drifted towards more of saving Chloe instead because I also saw consequences on if you saved the Bay because Arcadia Bay will always be a corrupt place and it won’t be a heaven If Max decided to spare it. It could also be because I got attached to Chloe like you said and it’s harder to sacrifice her because she grows on you. Especially when you’ve played LIS Before The Storm and you get to play like the rebel. But now after we finally going to get the new Life Is Strange Double Exposure it felt like when I listened to Max backstory and the development video behind on what we need to know to catch up on Max future after the events of LIS. Some info they told us is that she haven’t used her powers since the events of after Life Is Strange because she learned how dangerous the consequences of her rewinding power could be. And now it feel like I am drifting more towards Sacrifice Chloe again because it feel like more sense. We’ll have to see what the new game has to offer. But I must say it would be fun if Double Exposure could add more dialogue & game changes like Journal items if you saved Arcadia or Chloe in the episodes so we can’t decide on what’s the best ending really is to keep the playerbase divided and with a lot of pros and cons from all angles That’s why I love that the ending is almost at 50%-50%.

Playing games years later can be flawed when analyzing the game and the original criticisms of it though. One example is GTA 4, the classic example of “next gen” games actually being inferior that everyone forgot about. Next gen GTA 4 had amazing graphics compared GTA San Andreas, but it had less features and less things to do. Everything said about games today was said about GTA 4 back then. But now everyone forgot about the original criticisms of GTA 4 and they use it to attack GTA 5 without irony. The physics in GTA 5 are clearly a design choice because the amount of complains GTA 4 had, but people don’t mention this. People will shit on GTA 5 because you can’t pick up bricks or buy hotdogs, but in GTA 4, you can’t customize cars, get tattoos, get haircuts, etc like you can in SA. GTA 4 offered nothing new but fancy graphics and physics, but now a decade later people act like it’s some masterpiece. Look up internet forms from 2008 and everyone was saying how it was inferior to GTA SA. Rockstar took some of these criticism when they made GTA 5, but now people attack GTA 5 without understanding the context to why rockstar made those changes. People didn’t complain about the content of GTA SA to warrant those changes in 4. Assassins Creed, Fallout 3, even Skyrim and many other games have these issues too, everything said about Starfield was said about Skyrim, but Skyrim was still a huge success so Bethesda didn’t change their model like COD doesn’t. Remember when it was called Glitcher 3? I bet most people don’t because the hype to the Witcher 3 came years later and people forgot the original criticisms… including CDPR.

I suspect that another thing that has contributed to people believing that games arent fun anymore (because they're bored) is because so many young people have lower attention spans due to the internet and thus get bored faster

I completely agree, i remember not too long ago thinking all games are boring because i would only play FPS games, then i tried NieR Replicant, fell in love with it and then tried automata and was amazed. It really expanded my view and taste for games and not only relying on multiplayer games. It helped spark that curiosity that i had when I was younger. (P.S. Thank you Yoko Taro for giving me the opportunity to enjoy games again, especially the ones with a deeper meaning.)

"why gaming isn't fun anymore" it's probably because you've grown out of the age of needing immediate satisfaction and need to do something a little more meaningful for your life. video games keep you in 1 spot. do something that can make you money, or at least make a difference in the world. I mean really, have you seen how many hours you've dedicated to not just 1 game, but several others? Take those numbers and imagine that you used that time developing a discipline somewhere. games are meant to be fun for moments in life. Its not meant to be the entirety of life.

I want to make this clear. The whole "Old games bad, new games good" thing is an unintelligent argument. The reason being this. New games tend to constantly repeat the same methods as every other game. So when you see things you don't like CONSTANTLY return to every single game you play, that consistency remains. Today's games are becoming less experimental and marginalized for certain audiences. A lot of the same features that are disliked continue to be implemented in said games. But arguing this point seems pointless because of these 12 year old mind reader who hypocritically say you shouldn't "force" your opinion on them as they shove their opinions on you as if everything they say is objectively right about your character.

The thing that people miss when they say that, “Gaming isn’t fun anymore because we all grew up.”, is the fact that video games themselves _also_ “matured” right alongside us. Just look at a couple of games like Elden Ring or Nier:Automata. Do you think that there are any kids at all playing those games? Do you think that teenage boys care about anything to do with those experiences other than maybe the fan art of 2B? No, because those games don’t appeal to younger audiences, and they weren’t made for them in the first place. I feel like a lot of that perception that those people have about video games being “for children” comes from the fact that they’re still largely playing the same games they played when they were in school. People played Minecraft when they were in middle school, they played GTA and Call of Duty - even though those games are M-rated and technically they shouldn’t have been allowed to own them. I get the impression that this same logic was probably once applied to television, back when it was still relatively new and children began watching cartoons. The point is that the medium of video games isn’t an age-specific creation, it’s just another form that entertainment can take on, like any other before it.

But Im not only talking about minecraft, There are other games out there like roblox or fortnite that have a lot of unique categories of the games. Either that or play new games you haven't played.

Most modern games aren't for me anymore. Now gaming is still fun for me,but honestly I see so much fun factor for games dropping from newer games. And yes this includes a ton of indies...Most actually as there are quite literally almost 100k games on Steam alone. Now what i'll say I definitely overplayed FPS games that I just can't get into any of them anymore and I can't fathom how people have been constantly playing them.

Do something else for a while and you'll feel the urge to play games again and guess what happens then? YOU HAVE FUN WITH IT AGAIN!
