I really hope one of these years we get to see a crossover grey cup it’s just so improbable because you have to win on the road twice against most likely better teams cause crossover teams are 4th place always
True. Probably closest we ever came was Saskatchewan in 2017.
5:40 - VA... what was that pass? The defensive back Josh Johnson was just WAITING on that pass.
Who would've thought that it was the last time Edmonton Eskimos would win. Edmonton Elks still can't win much at all.
I think they can beat Ottawa Sunday
@@cflhighlights9370 I hope so. They should get a win or else it will be a big problem.
1:36 The good old days where you could miss a field goal and hit a Buick instead.
3:57 Old timey field goals look so casual. Guy just walks up to the ball and boots it.
The 2024 season is underway and can be watched on TSN, CBSSN, and CFL+!
They left out a dribble kicked touchdown by Hamilton in the last play that was called back. The rouge was actually scored with less than two minutes left, but the highlights make it look like it was the last play.
Let’s go als
Start of a 22 home game losing streak for Edmonton Eskimos/Elks.
Miss you Darren, thanks for this!
Not a stamps fan, but they were jobbed (Montreal game) on multiple calls.
Dutchy 😥
Thank you I've been looking for something like this for a while
Wait, was that the last home win before 22 home game losing streak for Eskimos/Elks? Yep...
That french ref has a history of hate and sh1tty biased reffing against SK for years. I only watch the riders play sometimes just to see how he’ll screw them. Go Lions.
I mean every fanbase says Proulx is biased against them
3:44 - I'm not so sure that VA was behind the line of scrimmage...
People hate that play, but I freaking love this!
Oh. My. Dog. I love the CFL.
I wanna be happy again
In cfl if you intercept in end zone and tackled does it count as a rouge too
No, but it used to be scored this way in the early days of Canadian football. Nowadays it’s just a touchback.
i miss rod black :(
I believe this used to be able to be done in the NFL. Some American high school rule books have it as well. Nice find!
18:01 Down south we call that “giving him the business.”
3:40 - yikes, poor official got destroyed.
Why do they not have a session for all the players new to the CFL to teach them the rules?
It depends on the coach. Chris Jones is from Texas and is not exactly known for bright ideas like this. He’s doing even worse now. Their last two games have come down to field goals with the score tied. Every Canadian coach knows in that situation you need to put your punter in the endzone. Both times they’ve put only one returner deep, who is American and wouldn’t know to kick it out.
4:15
anyone else notice the facemask on 37?
Yes I’ve always seen that and wondered how the refs didn’t.
The cfl is fantastic to watch but infuriating to watch because this garbage happens every game. The cfl is its own worst enemy.
I think the officiating has been pretty good this year
is it possible you could do a gord miller best cfl calls video?
To be honest, I understand the idea of giving the ball back to a losing team with almost no time left... it could've be a disaster in the kick return would've been for a TD... but it wasn't. So it was weird, but harmless idea.
5:17 - Nice defensive play by Streveler. Denied a TD.
Rip George Reed 🤍
What would be the reasoning for a team to choose this option?
Honestly, I have no idea. Would be useful if Ottawa was tied or losing by one to score a rouge, but I guess here Ottawa figured pinning them deep was better than risking an onside kick while losing by one.
I want to see this happen again in my lifetime, but I just can't think of any scenario where it makes sense to do it. Maybe there is some super rare scenario it would make sense but both of the examples on your channel seem like running out the clock would be much more advised. I really hope the CFL gets a Belichick type coach one day that does it lol
There are only two scenarios where this works. Let’s say Saskatchewan tied it 20-20. Then it makes sense for Ottawa to kickoff to score a single. The other scenario is that if Saskatchewan got the two point convert, Ottawa should choose to kickoff to tie it at 21.
I could see that working, especially if there was a strong wind at Ottawa’s back that could help carry the ball through the end zone. Here’s hoping it happens sometime!
You know, I really miss the days when the Rough Riders faced the Roughriders. Thanks for nothing Saskatchewan! You know what? I'm going to lay a curse on Saskatchewan and this is the best video for it! "Until Ottawa's CFL team is called the Rough Riders once more, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will win ZERO Grey Cups!" Too many men on the field...... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes I honestly think the 2014 reincarnation should have been the Rough Riders
I miss Dutch.
Is that a famous game with 24 point comeback from Montreal? It is!
I knew that the kicker and people behind him could recover, but I hadn't thought of doing that for a TD, usually it's done short as a sort of fake punt
Once again I'm disappointed in CFL that this type of highlight reel is uploaded by a fan channel, not the official one. If CFL really want to become a recognizable league, videos like this should be on their channel.
Exactly
@@cflhighlights9370 You're doing an awesome job making this, thank you for that. That three last plays by Fajardo in clutch to win Grey Cup... still have goosebumps watching them.
BTW. Who were the announcers for Ottawa Redblacks at Bc Lions game with Lions comeback win? I can't recognize them, but I like their style. Maybe one of them is Glen Suitor, but I might be wrong.
Farhan Lalji and Glen Suitor
@@cflhighlights9370 That's Farhan Lalji? I know him, he's the sideline reporter, didn't know that he also did some announcing. He's very good at it, not gonna lie.
19:39 - wait, is that a QB Kai Locksley who wasn't able to score against Roughriders as an Edmonton Elk on week 1? Huh...
Yes same guy
@@cflhighlights9370 interesting.
2:49 - I can hear CoachPhilReacts screaming "DON'T KICK TO DUDES WITH DREADS"... as it happened in his reaction to that game. Awesome return by Grant.
Wow... curious to see what was included. Didn't watch full games in 2023 up until playoffs, so yeah, won't tell much about missed plays.
Outstanding work!
Once again TD Place had crooked uprights... no one noticed?
Wait, that's Lawrence Woods, he's an experienced player, he knew what he was doing.
