I don't think there has ever been good evidence that there was a plan for the Trilogy from the beginning. Abrams and Kasden are photographed writing the movie during principal photography, they had an incredibly difficult time writing it, and George Lucas left part of the way through Pre-production. It is unlikely that they also had ideas for the other movies because: a) JJ Abrams wasn't directing those movies and didn't want to interfere creatively. b) Rian Johnson says that Abrams didn't have any guidelines other than Rey's parents would not be revealed. He could do whatever he wanted like: Ruin Luke Skywalker, kill Supreme Leader Snoke and barely move the plot along. c) Colin Trevorrow says that nothing was told to him as far as plot goes. He's ultimately fired for failing to deliver an adequate script. It's quite clear that Rey's parentage is a marketing gimmick to get people to come see all 3 movies for the answer. It's also clear she was meant to be the Daughter of Han Solo and Leia, but Carrie Fisher dying resulted in them having to change. If she was the daughter of 2 random people we have never seen before they could have shown their faces in the first movie. JJ Abrams was under pressure from Disney who needed to make back $4 billion dollars, and he used a cheap television gimmick to get people coming back for answers. The ultimate irony is that even if Rey was Han and Leia's daughter, the reveal in the last movie of the trilogy would also have been criticized for not having been worth the wait.

I loved Transformers Armada. It was... my first venture into Transformers. Highly recommend watching it, its a pretty cool show. Also, bro, you need to look at the Broken Mirror comics, where autobots and cons roles are swapped.

I was on On Set Dresser for years in Hollywood. On Sets deal with set continuity alongside Script Supervisors. One thing this video forgot to mention (although the excellent distinctions re: light came close) is that sets and locations will always be filmed through air. Air is full of microscopic particles that, themselves, bounce light. Like the “micro-poof” of dust as an actor sits on a sofa or rolls over on bedding. The stage dust that eddies around the grid, 15 feet above the set where the lights hang. All of this combines to the human eye (the ultimate in camera technology) to create a warmth that digital will likely never overcome.

6:30 One super interesting thing to me is the seeming lack of “humanization” tools that arent just human translation like we musicians got in the digital age. There are various DAW plugins that can take a MIDI instrument and seed randomize things like velocity and frequency of notes and reverberation effects that are programmed to simulate the acoustics of a real room. These are all things you can program easily and it feels like stopping mid transition between key frames a few times at random and then deciding whether or not to twitch followed randomly determining the the degree of said twitch within reason could help add to cgi movement.

That wrinkle "introduced" by Abrams about the apprentice getting overtaken by the master was introduced BY the sith who invented the rule of two. Darth Bane learns it to get into the body of Darth Jannah. It was the one bit that was actually consistent in the film with the old lore!

Thats the difference between a funny bad movie and one of those “purposefully bad meme movies”: a funny bad movie is one that tries in earnest to be good but fails due to incompetence, meanwhile making a movie “bad on purpose” can takes away that fun. Like a movie like cocaine bear tries too hard to be a bad B movie based thats intended to be a meme and people can pick up on that disingenuousness. Also making a movie “bad on purpose” is such a lazy cop out because when the movie fails the creators can just say that was on purpose

My biggest complaint is still that they just did a terrible job but Rey’s character. Stick a random girl in a masculinity storyline, don’t explain who she is even though you’re in a story spanning decades where everyone is explained, jump straight to action, turns out by the end she’s the main antagonist’s grand daughter but we never learn how that happened. Disney just sucks at character building which is why they rely on buying huge existing storylines, plugging in their standard ratios of comedy:drama:action:LGBT diversity, and abandoning the fanbase.

Seriously the original idea wasn't great, nowhere near great, but it was way better that what we actually got. If they had just trusted the original writer we could've had a rather nice story
