    I support you in canceling Adobe. I don’t use their stuff for like 5 or 6 years. Instead I use RawTherapy to process my photos and Krita for sketching and miscellaneous tasks. These are enough for my needs. I agree that people have to oppose major companies to make them pay for the content they use for AI training.

    Never heard of that software but I'll give it a look! My problem with Krita was always that it's GPU dependent, and wasn't/isn't viable for many users beyond "enthusiast" level computer users. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    It's interesting what you say about watercolours and oils at the beginning because that is such an arty perspective. To a regular person who is well into adulthood and takes up painting for whatever reason, acrylics are going to be far more in line with what I think they'd expect from paint. Most people's experience of paint starts with poster paints at school, might include something kind of modelling paint perhaps and maybe woodstains or fence paints, will almost certainly include interior painting and decorating with vinyl matt or silk emulsion, whatever they're called. Those kinds of paints are far more similar to acrylics than to watercolours or oils. It's only people with an arty background who find acrylics weird or outrageously fast drying. To everyone else acrylics are normal and oil paints especially weird! Some artists will bleat on about acrylic's treacherously fast drying times as if that's such an issue. I've been painting for two years now with acrylics and have never found myself thinking "Oh, I wish this paint would dry more slowly!"

  • @cinderblockstudios

    I don’t get it lol That’s a lot of Pumice gel for an acrylic painter. I have a small jar in stock for quite some time , been itching to use it in my pastel work, but been doing mostly acrylics , have not felt the need to use it in acrylics. But that’s just me. If I wanted to pastel a wood panel , I would glue a water color sheet to the wood then maybe the pumice gel .. but again that’s just me. But … interesting video series .. there are lots of odd supplies I keep in my gallery .. marble dust … glass bead medium … black gesso … sand , just to name a few. All have interesting uses in making art. Lately , I not one for stocking up , while it might save money to buy larger quantities, supplies can go bad , and today with fast delivery , I just as well store my supplies on the art suppliers shelf. Thanks for the video !

    Thank you for the review. So how does acrylic work on oil paint?

  • @cinderblockstudios
    @cinderblockstudiosАй бұрын

    Generally it should be oil over acrylic, but the other way around can work with a decent isolation coat. Do note though oil paint will crack over time as it fully oxidizes which can cause issues as a base to acrylic paint.

    What about house primer? I've used that on a wood panel with oil enamel on top. I was wondering if the primer would grip the wood better than gesso, but I did not have time to test. I just went with the primer, which is how I paint wood frames.

  • @cinderblockstudios
