Those lever connections. Had so many returns for those. However they have improved on later models. Learn from mistakes i suppose.
Exactly
Having these tools and skills, this guy will soon be a king in the land of the blind. The population as a whole has no skills no tools and no inclination to do or to learn. He will be coining it. Well done.
If you don't mind me asking how have you avoided this with your installation? (I can see you are only replacing existing, but it's now technically your install as you have to follow manufactures manual and the all work should be to BS7671 and code of practice for EV chargers regardless) in relation to the lead been plugged into vehicle. Does the customer have insurance? 4.5.2.2 Avoidance of trip hazards & 4.5.2.3 Avoidance of unnecessary obstruction.
Yes they have insurance and council permission
@@sotaelectrical Ok, with the council permission is that something we sort out as an installer or the client? is there a form?
@@mattys5686 the client sorts it buddy
Green yellow insulation tape 😢 you let yourself down
Sorry have I missed something?
Hey Sota, brilliant stuff as per usual! ❤ I need to see more in depth vids mate. Thanks 😊
Thank you!!
So I’m surprised you didn’t get the solar kit with it. Stick it on the roof of the van for it to continually charge, while you’re using it.
I bought those lever connections anout a year go to try them. Absolute crap, and expensive.
Unexpected, damn, you win some you loose some, What is the depth meant to be by UK standards, Australia is 600mm.
Silly question but do regs require isolation switch in UK?
It doesn’t require a local point of isolation in England, in Ireland I believe it does 👍
You deserve far more than 13.9K subscribers. Keep up the good work. That is one big charger though.
Thank you sir appreciate your kind words 🙏
Your welcome on the tape trick😊 works a treat.
You’re my hero!! Great tip, all credit to you sir
Why didn't you just use the the data pairs in the cable for the Ethernet connection for the internet and a harvi with two CT clamps for the PV and Grid load. The Harvi wireless CT has great range on the 868 MHz range and will easily travel the distances needed.
Because if you read the install instructions that come with the Zappi, they state not to use the harvi for the grid 👍👍
Mind the aul back buddy! Sure that powerpack ain't light 😅
It is a beast!!!
Another goodun.....top man
Thank you mate
If you're too dumb to not lose screws! No wonder your fitted chargers blows up ! 😂... any 5yr old child would realise how to not lose screws !! 😂😂😂😂 omfd
Can measure the resistance of the 2.5 next time to gauge how long the duct is from the reference tables 👍
Simple tips are always the best - I will start taping from now on. I have placed a mechanics magnetic tray under where I'm working if anything falls. As you know when you drop anything it does escape in all directions so it doesn't always work.
Agreed 100%
Toolstation do a set of 3 collapsible trays. (Sealey make I think). Rubber with magnet base really useful and only a few pounds o buy.
@@richardwilliamson3624 nice mate
lost loads of indra screws. stealing this tip also haha
Great tip!!
Someones pulled the main cutout to install those meter tails in the new DB.. 🙂 oh an Eddy currents where the tails go in to the old CU in a separate fashion.
great job - pity about the illegal number plate!
Never mind ay 👍
Wow the exterior cable doesn’t have to be in a conduit? Where is this? Rodents wound tear that cable apart…
Where did you get the magnet from you hold the cutters with? Top job by the way enjoying your videos 👍
In my bio mate, go to my Linktree and you will find it there 👍👍
@@sotaelectrical thanks pal
Cracking Content been following you for a bit, looking at getting a 3 phase install done, would you travel to Weston super mare?
Thank you!! Yes I would but I wouldn’t be able to compete with a local guy to you with the travelling that I would have to do, give me a call if that’s not an issue 👍
👌👌👌👌
I've seen 10 mm tails on some jobs for EV 😳
U need to spray the meter box 🤣
🤣
Glad it isn’t just me that when a good van goes it’s like putting your faithful donkey down!!!!
How’s that van so clean and tidy in all your videos? And your work clothes! Man I’ve been doing this 20 years and can never keep this skip tidy?
Just a bit of pride mate, got to keep your office tidy! 👍👍
‘Save the C50’
I still have it
Where did you get the cover for the van doors whens it's raining?
Google - rear van door canopy 👍
Very good job 👌
Commenting on a very old video, but... that's how far I have to scroll back to find your Ohme installs. Are Ohme very reliable? I don't see many videos of Ohme replacements. Why so many videos about Zappi, and so few about Ohme? I know you like the Zappi, but on the other hand, you seem to be 'fixing' a lot of Zappis too. Even if their customer service is great at replacing the failed ones, there seems to be a high failure rate on them. And that's also backed up when I read comments threads where people are saying "I'm so pleased with my zappi. It failed, but they were so good at replacing it!" - I find it hilarious reading so many people saying they are 'happy' about their failed zappi being fixed. Like celebrating being shot in the foot because you only lost three toes. But with Ohme, I DON'T see you having to replace lots of Ohmes. So should I assume it is more reliable? Is that the right impression to take? Or is Ohme also just as unreliable as the rest, but it's just boring to video lots of Ohme unit replacements because they are sealed units that don't allow you to see the scorch marks and smell the magic smoke?
So I actually replace way more Ohme EV chargers than zappi’s and yes I can’t think of a good way to make a video on the Ohme and I don’t really like them, so I don’t want to promote them, equally I don’t want to get strung up in court for slander
You inspire me
Clean, what do you charge for these jobs
Nice. Do you leave your van doors open when you're working inside?
No mate
What planner allowed two properties to be built that close together?
Savage 💪🏻
3 phase in a house that’s mint
Oddly very common in here in South Africa. i love it. 3 x 230v and a neutral direct to council supply. except half the time the fuckers hit us with loadshedding.... lol Edit - you can even run 380v equipment in your house if you have it. its mental
✅️👌
Legend work mate 🔥🔥🔥 as always keep it up 👍🏻
Myenergi customer service used to be the best around, now they could actually be a contender for the worst. It’s a shame because their products were game changing
It doesn't really look durable enough for trade use, that big display is going to get broken.
I e had this for about 3/4 months now and no broken screen, it’s like anything, just look after it
No conduit required for that cable you ran?
a cable that heavy a gauge, the insulation should be plenty of protection from the elements.
@@noah4822 I'm not too sure about that. I know it's an added cost and more labor but I definitely would have in conduit. Maybe even bury some on the conduit too.
@@andrewfeldt3774 i've never worked on HV, just soldering electronics for work but i think the cable that runs from the charger to plug into the car is the same cable that runs from the breaker box to the charger, and the car charger cables are left in the elements on outdoor charger stations like along freeways. i know conduit is needed for running like 110 but this stuff, not sure. i've never even been inside a EV tho so im just guessing
@@noah4822 I understand what your saying. At least in this scenario the cable is between two buildings. If this was run along an open side of a building I would just be afraid of more exposure not only from elements but landscapeing, theft I've seen all sorts of things.
@@andrewfeldt3774 i didnt think of theft, makes sense. a house i rented in Denver had a locked angle iron cage around the AC unit, a house 2 blocks down didn't and got theirs yoinked while on vacation. two guys dressed as city workers in a stolen fleet pickup lol
I like how you went from Milwaukie to dewalt to Festool. Unbiased well done
You're on google street view outside that property! Thought I recognized it as it's down the road from me.
Am I!! Il check it out!!
tripping out .. sounds like fun
You forgot the dynamic load management and the fuses went off
Top drilling that man, dont understand some trades not taking the drill of hammer wen goin throu outside walls(or inside in your case)?!u should see the state of my brick outside my rented property that the virgin cable chap done,i was fuming wen i got home!!they gave me 4 months free Internet but eva way its not the point summit so simple. Keep doin wot ur doin 👍
The charger tthatt made the popping sounds is awful. Lots of exposed PCB. My own charger has an EVSE module, a contactor module and a main switch/RCD module. Everyhing is inside a module and it works just fine. The EVSE module in my charger is less than £100 and tthe restt of ittis prety much bog standard. Regarding granny chargers and 13 amp sockets I had an overheating problem charging at 3kw so I now charge at 2kw with no problems.
I have charged my EV a 50kWh MG 4 on a granny charger since i took delivery of it 18 months ago. The granny charger plugs into an external water proof 13 amp socket. I have had no problems, the socket is fed on a fused spur to a very substantial ring main. I only charge at 10 amps and constantly check the plug for heat, it only runs finger warm. I once detected a hotter than usual plug this problem was rectified by changing the 13 amp fuse for a new one. I never leave it charging over night. This works for me but takes a day time charge to replace half the battery. I am parnoid about causing a fire hence my precautions. Note - this only works as i am retired and the car spends a lot of its life on the drive. Love the videos by the way, very informative.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!! 👍👍
Do you reckon this would power a Metabo chaser? 1400w for the chaser but then the vac is also 1400w
Do they actually pull 1400w though?
I'll get the clamp meter on it and check, would be really useful having a power bank without trailing an extension
