PETER FRITZ

I teach what I've learned so far about landscape & car photography, which I’ve done for over 35 yrs. But my real objective is to cheer on men in their mid-to-late years with their passion for motoring, photography, and a quest to live more deliberately.

MY BACKGROUND
******************
I shot & wrote for car & motorcycle magazines and manufacturers in the '80s & '90s before moving into software. Throughout my varied career, I’ve had a bunch of passion projects (I wrote a short book, built & ran three blogs, and created a podcast with more than 100 episodes). I also did a long stint as an active property investor before the sh*t hit the fan, and I lost everything in the GFC (except my sense of humour).

Today, I enjoy making videos about the things that make me - and hopefully you - happy. 🦘

    I'm 32 for now, coming up on 33 soon, and I've been looking at getting a used Macan Turbo or a Boxter. I really want the auto so my wife can drive it in an emergency. But I want a manual and I can just teach her to drive it - in case of emergencies. But after watching your other video about this car, I'm leaning more toward a Boxter or Cayman. Very fine tips Peter. Thank you. In the late '90s I was working for a company in Hollywood, USA, that prepped vehicles for film and print, mostly ads. Great video, I'm watching this because I have the RF24-105, I then added the EF70-200II, now I'm thinking the 24-105 doesn't quite do enough, that faster aperture of the 24-70 would be so much more useful that going to 105 since I have that, and more, covered by the 70-200. The 105 has been a fantastic lense and I would highly recommended it to someone picking up a camera and a single lense as part of a kit, but like you said, when you add to your collection, even just a little bit, the 24-70 just starts to make much more sense very quickly. And an edit just to say you gained a subsciber. Really nicely put together video with great images 👍

My father used to say, "no, no, no, you cannot say it didn't really need it but I got it done and didn't count it." He told me that what I believe it needed and spent the money to change all count on the cost factor- sum of all the parts make it what it is now, thinking.

My path was similar but different: a 2002 Corvette, a 2008 Corvette, and a 2015 Corvette Stingray with the Z51 package. All wonderful vehicles from the glory days of Corvette racing here in the States. Traded the 2015 in 2023 for a BMW X5 M60i. I thought that I, at age 75, had moved past two seater sports cars. Wrong. By December of last year, and with the Porsche Boxer high on my list of possibles, my BMW Z4 M40i arrived. Great car with performance metrics equal to the 2015 Stingray, only quicker, more agile, and all the while feeling more planted. Love the Z4 M40i. Aint life grand to have such wonderful vehicles available.

Members of an authorized Porsche club receive discounts from Porsche dealers for servicing, parts and merchandise, and genuine Porsche parts have a 2 year warranty. Also, "OEM" does not mean "genuine". Your membership card also works at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Regards, from Perth

    Thank you, Myles - much appreciated. After 10 Benzes, where I often purchased OEM parts from the likes of Bosch, Bilstein, and Mann that were identical to genuine bar the 3-pointed star, I understand the distinction between OEM and genuine parts. The CTEK battery charger is a case in point, where the identical Porsche-branded ‘genuine’ item is triple the price. Madness.

    Thanks, old boy. I've been doing a lot of thinking about this little channel over the last few months, and I realise I need to lean into this topic a lot more. After all, not many people on KZread will have photographed the iconic 80s cars when they were first launched - like the F40, R32, E34 M5, NSX, LS400, MX5, 964, SL500, RX7 Turbo, Supra, Diablo, and more. I love cars, and I love landscapes, so driving and photographing cars in the landscape will likely be my thing from here on. Except when there's no car to shoot, them I'll be very happy shooting the landscape on it's own. I'm really pleased to see you making decent headway, now. I honestly believe your channel can become one of the premiere US-based landscape photography channels over the next few years, and compete with the guys from the UK. You've definitely improved your storytelling, presenting and editing skills significantly over the last year.👍

    I have a PDK 992 and a 6MT 982 in the garage and 9 out of 10 times reach for the Cayman keys over the 911 unless I’m taking it to a track day. The Cayman is just more enjoyable on public roads; largely because of the manual transmission, but also because of the size and feel. The 911 on the other hand is unbelievably good on the track, but I still often choose the Cayman for track days since it asks more out of me as a driver.

  • @PETERFRITZPHOTO
    @PETERFRITZPHOTO3 күн бұрын

    Fun times, for sure! Car shows are really hard for three reasons: car placement, lighting, and obstructions (people). If you can figure out a way to get access with the press (before the general public), that can help with the last issue, but the rest is tough. If you can appeal to the organisers, you might also be able to see the cars as they’re delivered and set up in the venue, which usually happens a day or two before the opening. If you publish your images anywhere in the media, that certainly will help with credibility.

    I just received my copy of this lens a couple of days ago. It performs very well. A really nice surprise is that not only does Lightroom have a correction file, Adobe has released a version 2 of their correction file. As for low light, I am looking forward to trying this lens out inside with low light. One thing that I find helps with cranking up the ISO is to turn off the viewfinder preview, and then rely on your metering. The autofocus locks on really well, even with lower lighting levels.

    I’d love to have a hasselblad. I’ve been in love with them since I first saw the 501 in the magazines. Back in those days, the 501 was THE working horse for the serious photographer. Fashion, studio, design, etc were all realms that had the 501 in heavy use. These days, my most ‘premium’ camera has been a Leica TL2. Price for price, I’d much rather have the hasselblad over another red dot camera. The latest M series cameras have just been problem prone with its software and gotten way out of hand in the pricing. $10,000 USD for a body only and ff sensor. Just isn’t there for me in the value department. And the service…I have no interest in shipping it off to Germany every time it needs adjusting or maintenance. One day I’ll have a hasselblad.
