How about this the Earth is living and can readjust its inner/outer perimeters whenever something triggers a significant change in order to protect itself and ensure survivability. Some say its just evolution or some outside source causing these extinctions. I know one thing though the Earth is not the center of the universe, as humans would have hoped it too be or wrote religions that suggest this. The universe like time itself would remain unchanged as a whole if Earth was wiped from existence.Maybe the reason we have not found life is that they simply ran out of time and were destroyed before they found a way off their planet and their Sun was destroyed. For instance maybe that is why we were created by the Earth, to save it from our Sun and the Earth simply nursed its evolution of itself and the creatures on it to ensure the best possible outcome for success. Now that is just crazy but the one question remains will we make it off our planet or save our planet by ensuring our Sun never dies out. Most simply say its another generations problem after we are dead and gone but we are guessing how much time our Sun has left. That should be the only question our survival but most do not care about this question.

As Paleozoo itself has pointed out, there was complex life over 600 million years ago in the Ediacaran Period. The Cambrian "explosion" was a relative change.

In a geological timescale the jump from the simple animals of the Ediacaran to the complexity found in the Cambrian was so fast that the word explosion is warranted.

And after a couple more millions of years, the most powerful loving creature will be born. The Hallucigenia. Fast forward hundreds of millions of years again, and it will bond to a human, creating a superspecies symbiosis. The titans.
