    Run the high voltage transformer and bulb in series. You’ll limit the current to the transformer so you don’t burn it out.

    funny that whom ever you bought this tractor and loader from never put the high pressure shims in, but installed the high pressure relief valve and high pressure relief bar for that valve. i think the shims were solid discs that went in over the top of the valve stem to enable deeper plunger action, but i guess that is just for the bigger utility sized tractors. our tractors and loaders came from the same dealership, still has the schmidt implement stickers on mine too. curious to know if your machine is having the same hydro overheating issue as mine is...i'm about to add a reservoir and an aftermarket ebay trans/hdyro cooler to the radiator to solve my issue this year. i changed out the radiator to another one and no change, i have the low viscosity hygard in, not sure if i need to change that out but i was told that's used up in this part of north america when i changed it after first getting the machine, dealer said it's supposed to be better for cooler operating temperature during the winter. pirtek in plymouth mn makes new hoses near me and northern tool sells new cylinders of all kinds ams oil used to be lucas before the new owners bought it and made the oil worse...still better than regular oil by miles, but it wears out faster than the original. the price of that 5 gallon is really good, hygard is $135 for that bucket last i saw about the time you made this video. it's $30 for the gallon jugs, takes 2 to 2.5 gallons icant remember exactly...just more than 2 for me and we have the same machines and set ups. originally. thanks for showing the parts info, really appreciate that. not sure i will do this yet as i need to get a hold of the high pressure relief valve first. pirtek has a website but here is info. i had them make a new hose for my front quick attach implement lift Owner: Craig & Lynette Heitkamp Address: 11350 Highway 55 Plymouth, MN 55441 (between us hwy 169 and i494, right by medicine lake rd @hwy 55) Phone: (763) 475-0475 (763) 551-9081 (Fax)

    Hi April, Thank you for your kind remarks. I haven't had an overheating problem. I'm surprised that the hydro coolant line that lives in radiator doesn't keep the oil at the correct temperature. Curious! How can you tell that the hydro is overheating?? I never heard of the relief valve shims you are referring to. As you saw in the video, they look just like small washers. The gent that I bought this from didn't seem too savvy about working on tractors. I'm pretty sure he got this loader new from the dealer just the way it is and didn't make any mods. I asked him some basic questions about it and he didn't have the answers, but one thing he told me was that he filled the hydro with Amsoil synthetic. I had to replace about a gallon I because of oil loss from working on it and the larger cylinders. I wanted to stick with synthetic because I read that you shouldn't mix synthetic with non-synthetic I couldn't come up with Amsoil synthetic because of its availability around here, so I got on eBay and found that a 5 gallon bucket of Amsoil syn. was crazy expensive, but I did find a 5 gallon bucket of Lucas oil synthetic for a whole lot less so I ordered it. Seems to work fine, but the hydraulics really get sluggish in the Winter until they warm up. Is it the synthetic oil causing that????????? anyway that's what I like about the coolant line in the radiator because it helps to heat the fluid faster.

    deere made the lifting capacity this weak by design to get around newly updated 1996 consumer safety laws which brought you the beam sensor photo eyes in garage door openers and the hold down reverse with pto so you don't run over your children with your running mower deck and this, so you can tip over your tractor and kill your self...as easily with a low center of gravity. last time congress made this law you had to put fenders over wheels and have windshield wipers and defroster and safety covers over thing people would stick their hands and feet into on a regular enough basis that qualified for social security money

    Usually the faster you run the engine, the higher the hydraulic pressure, is this not the same for this tractor?

  • @spudpail

    Actually no. The engine speed will affect how fast the hydraulics move, but it has no affect on the pressure.

    If you cloase both air inlets it will get colder! Once up to temp, with the little round inlet a few turns open, THEN close the by=pass damper and crack open the side inlet. Using the ash drwer to start can kill the catulist if you happen to forget it. There is only one damper, the one in the side and the one inthe middle of the ash drawer is an air inlet. The instructions are right and it should not take long. Judge the efficiency of the cat by looking for smoke at outside chimmney top! My combusters are clad in metal, no seal; same as original. Mine is 30years old and on 2nd cat.

  • @spudpail
    @spudpail4 ай бұрын

    Everyone has their own methods for running these things. I found that if the dampers are closed off after the fire is established and the cat is over 500 deg. the cat temperature will climb up to around 1300 deg. and you will notice little or no smoke out the chimney because the smoke burns in the cat. When the fire dies down to embers, there will be little or no smoke for the cat to work with, so the cat temp. will drop until new fuel is added and more smoke is provided. The cat will only work with smoke and nothing else! No smoke, no cat heat! That's something I have a hard time convincing people of!

  • @spudpail

    Funny how you ask a question on a video I posted 11 years ago! I was watching KZread when I got this notification. 🙂 To answer your question, I always ordered parts from various online suppliers and did the work myself. If you feel uncomfortable about doing it this way, the only thing I can suggest is to find a servicer of wood stoves in your area and give them a call, but be prepared to pay a hefty price. My experience with these people and HVAC people in general has always been negative. They like to read you the riot act and then try to sell you something new. Watch more of my videos and you may get an idea how to do some of this stuff yourself. It really isn't that bad.

    Are the tubes necessary for air supply to the combustor? The tubes appear to still run into a chamber connected to the damper. I'm wondering if it would supply just the same without the tubes

  • @spudpail
    @spudpail5 ай бұрын

    The tubes run from the small air damper that's above the side loading door. This is used to adjust the amount of air introduced to the bottom of the cat via those tubes. Without air, combustion of flue gasses in the cat wouldn't happen. I have mine open about 3 or 4 turns and just leave it that way. I couldn't say what would happen if the tubes weren't there, but I don't think the engineers would have put them there if they weren't necessary.

    Liquid cooled engines are ok to run at less than full throttle. It is not recommended to run air cooled engines for extended periods at low rpm's because it will cause overheating. High throttle allows the engine fan to provide adequate air flow for cooling.

    You need pellet stove L vent B vent is for gas appliances. It can’t hold the heat as well. Plus, it’s not stainless steel inside. The L vent is stainless steel. You might want to switch that out.

  • @spudpail
    @spudpail7 ай бұрын

    The instructions never specified that. I've had that stove for over 12 years and besides having some soot inside the pipe it looked as good as the day I installed it. I also read this: (Type L vents are designed for venting approved oil-fired and natural-gas appliances that produce draft hood flue gasses that do not exceed a temperature of 570º F (299º C), or 926º F (299º C) for 10 minutes in an over-fire situation. Type L vents should not be used to vent coal- or wood-fired appliances.) So what do I believe?? It's all moot point for me anyway because I sold that stove 3 years ago and replaced it with a gas one. I only made this video for information to link to for my Craigslist sales listing. Thanks for your reply.

  • @spudpail

    A catalytic combustor is a powerful way to maximize the efficiency of your wood stove while making the air cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly. If you don’t have a catalytic stove and combustor, they are worth seriously considering. The EPA continues to place greater restrictions on how to burn wood fires in homes, and this fact is making catalytic stoves more popular each year.

The brightness is much more consistent and flickering is no longer a problem. The only downside is that the colon no longer pulses. You could leave 1 incandescent bulb in there just for the colon if you want. An important side note; These led bulbs are not polarized, (even though the listing said they were), so you don't have to worry if each socket is installed the same way. I hope this helps. Great video. I have a Rinnai RU98iN for hot water, and want to use it for heating my first floor about 1400 square feet. Do you know whether I can set it up to meet the plumbing code, any advice very much appreciated!

    To be honest with you, I don't know what your specific codes require or if there are any. You have the largest water heater at 199,000 btu, but 1400 sq.ft. is a pretty big area and I'm wondering if it would sufficiently heat an area that big. Because you want to use it for both domestic hot water and floor heat, you would have to use a flat plate heat exchanger to isolate the two loops and I don't think that one exchanger would cut it because I think, the exchange rate is only about 50% at best! You could use a larger exchanger or two or three in parallel possibly. I believe your heater could easily heat that area if it were used solely for that purpose, because then a heat exchanger would not be required. Also, a lot depends on the weather conditions in your area and how heat efficient the space is. I hope this helped.

    I found this, but it looks like they sell them in sets of 4. www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/search-results/?q=fa264ccl

    You might be able to get the leg pieces welded back together at a local weld shop. Some shops are real helpful to their communities.

    I used the perforated cast iron plate that came with my stove for a few years, too. Fits in where the combustor was installed. Not as good for collecting heat as a ceramic combustor, but longer lasting. Some aftermarket combustors are quick to quit working. The 'new to me' stove I'm using now has a factory blower and that improves heat output a lot. I'm using 3in1 oil in the fan motor oil ports. Any suggestions for fan motor oil? I put a thin piece of wood under the fan, squeeze the 3in1 oil into both oil ports, and when I get a couple drips on the wood then I know I oiled it enough (or I think so).

    I don't recall ever getting that plate you are referring to. Are we talking about the same stove? A perforated cast iron plate would not be a catalyst, so I wouldn't expect it do much outside of just restricting air flow, But you can do that with a flue damper. I did get cast iron coal grates, but of coarse I'm sure that's not what you're talking about. I do agree with you about the aftermarket combustors not lasting. I tried all types of combustors and I keep coming back to the ceramic style. I replaced my combustor with a steel cat last year and they don't seem to last as long. I put a ceramic cat back in that I saved and its actually working quite well. I think 3 in 1 oil is fine. That's what I use and never had a problem. Those motors generally have a felt pad that surround the bearing and acts like an oil reservoir so you won't have to oil it on a regular basis.

    @@spudpail Your comment on oil is very helpful; felt pad makes sense. The plate definitely not a catalyst, was supplied to me with the new stove, does damp the air flow, about 1/4" thick with big tapered holes about 5/16 or 3/8 diam. Restricting air flow when routing through the top flow channel may be all it does. Stove shows Duchwest India LTD, FA264CCL, and 8/83 on the info plate. Anyhow, I got a never used Federal Airtight stove that is older than the 8/83 stove; I had to remove the entire stove-top to insert the aftermarket combustor in this pre-83 stove. The steel combustor does not seem to get as hot as the ceramic did in my broke stove; steel seems to top out at 1250F, although I've been running it damped at 800-1100. I may try to rework the 8/83 model with new seals, new or repaired grates, and heat shield plate this summer. I'm retired and last week got permission to chainsaw a nearby fallen oak tree into chunks, split the rounds into 3-5 pieces and load into my pickup for a 2 mile drive home. Stihl 025 worked better than old pitiful me. A lot of the heart wood was rotted out, but that oak will be good fuel next year. I saw a Stihl economy chainsaw review, model Hozfforma G660, and I may invest in one w 36" blade and try to cut slabs! That could be good use of free oak in northern VA.

    Where did u buy your parts for this sir?

  • @spudpail

    I usually just "Google" the model number and look for an outfit that sells woodstove parts and go from there. I haven't needed too many parts for this stove over the years, but whatever parts I did need, came from various vendors. What I usually like to do with anything I'm looking for is to go to eBay and go from there. It's sort of a launching point, if you will.

    1980s stove, my only heat source for my home in Maine- under 5 cords a year.. best stove u will ever buy, and parts are still available.. most efficeint stove, none can be it...but it takes a learning curve to get it right..lol

    That is so cool! (No pun intended). Yes there is a learning curve! I've had it since 1985 and I still change my methods occasionally. I'm in southern Wisconsin and I burn about 2 cords per year, but I also have a fairly heavily insulated 2000 sq. ft. house with other forms of gas heat, however when the temps get above the mid twenties, the Dutchwest does it all. I Loved your comment, thanks.
