Good point. There were only a couple of projects with solid axels from Patrol GQ, had been done. Not feasible at all. The problem with this model is that it doesn't have independent frame. The frame is integrated with body (hybrid). Also front part of the frame is very weak spot. My opinion, when they designed this model a lot of work was done to reduce the cost, as a result not solid suspension, but comfortable. The conversion requires a lot of work, welding, bracing/structural reinforcing, steering wheel assembly, etc. After that the rig will not be legal on the road. It's much cheaper to buy a Gladiator or TLC80/70/Patrol. We use our Deli for a long distance expeditions, reliability and comfort are priority. Good comment, though.

Cool vid and nice scenery/hike man, keep it up. Really good intro, by the way, both music and camera angles. Only thing I might comment on are the black bars on some of the video, might be annoying to some, but it's probably not your fault and is just how the camera works. Glad KZread recommended me this.

However, I'm not sure about conditions from Nahatlach forest road to lookout, 2wd vw van will probably be ok (check with BC softroading and BC overland in Facebook).

hey im looking to import a delica l400 to vancouver myself and i was wondering why you chose to go for the gas model and not the diesel. im still in the early stages of this decision and you input would be much appreciated. great videos btw
@DA-Van-For-Fun Жыл бұрын
Hi. Good question, thanks for asking. Either diesel or gas engines have pros and cons. Why we chose gas: 1. Gas engine (6g72) has available parts in North America (Mitsu Montero Sport), available engine blocks, heads, timing belt kits, and it is not cost prohibitive 2. 6g72 is one of the best engines from Mitsu and it is less expensive to maintain compare to 4M40 diesels (applies for North America). 3. No injections pumps and issues with fuel injections, fuel pumps, quality of fuel, etc.. 4. Easy to start when it is -20 -30 outside, no dancing with shaman's drum around the rig or looking for a tow truck and a warm garage 5. Gas engine is more agile on the highways, easy to speed up, overtake/highway friendly, 140 km/h no problem 6. Diesel, is more vulnerable for water content and if it is not sealed properly and without snorkel, a couple of drops of water will be enough to destroy the engine. Gas engine can survive the deep water crossing. 7. Both engines are subject for overheating. However diesel requires more attention (it doesn't like high rev.), my personal opinion. 8. No turbo Hope it helps. Good luck!

how deep have you had this thing wading? I have the 3.0 too, I’ve been through some deepish puddles on the road and it didn’t like it. seemed like electrical issues. it wasn’t deep enough to reach the air filter so no issues there. This particular rig, no, I didn't. Back in 2007 I had Pajero v73 with the same engine. I did a lot off-roading and crossing rivers, deep puddles. The depth sometimes was up to the intake and I did not have any problems at all. My opinion is that 6G is one of the best engines designed and constructed by genius engineers. Unfortunately cars are getting old, and with this car I think it will be quite challenging due to old wire, particularly connections. If I find a good safe crossing, I will try
