Hi. Good question, thanks for asking. Either diesel or gas engines have pros and cons. Why we chose gas: 1. Gas engine (6g72) has available parts in North America (Mitsu Montero Sport), available engine blocks, heads, timing belt kits, and it is not cost prohibitive 2. 6g72 is one of the best engines from Mitsu and it is less expensive to maintain compare to 4M40 diesels (applies for North America). 3. No injections pumps and issues with fuel injections, fuel pumps, quality of fuel, etc.. 4. Easy to start when it is -20 -30 outside, no dancing with shaman's drum around the rig or looking for a tow truck and a warm garage 5. Gas engine is more agile on the highways, easy to speed up, overtake/highway friendly, 140 km/h no problem 6. Diesel, is more vulnerable for water content and if it is not sealed properly and without snorkel, a couple of drops of water will be enough to destroy the engine. Gas engine can survive the deep water crossing. 7. Both engines are subject for overheating. However diesel requires more attention (it doesn't like high rev.), my personal opinion. 8. No turbo Hope it helps. Good luck!
