2005 was the 6.1. The 6.4 wasn't about 2010
I'm dropping a new crate in my 1975 CJ -5 Jeep. I'm looking for about 400 HP. What would you guys recommend?
"The advantages of coil on plug is each plug has its own coil..." 30 seconds later "There's less parts involved than an HEI...." Lol wtf? 😂
My dad put some oversize tires on his 67 Cougar and it hydroplaned horribly @ 50 mph in the rain. Unplanned lane changes were the norm. He traded it to a dealer and the new owner put it into a cornfield a week later.
Give me the Gen 1 all day everyday
Oh he'll NO called a Skyline a 240...atleast is still a Nissan...😂
1:54 meanwhile i breaks at 700hp
ford in australia used the coyote in the ford falcon b series all the way to the final model the fgx, and we actually got it to 5.4 litres and supercharged it calling it the miami, the highest power model we had was a 351kw engine, should make another video about australian v8s
I had an 89 RS five speed, T-Top Camaro, sans mufflers. I miss it and want one again.
the ls engine was still being used in australia to 2017 in the vf commodores, and in australia the gto is known as a vx/vz monaro
The Power Glide My all time favorite. Raced one behind my Ford 4 cylinder. No torque converter necessary. Would work on the street too!!
I have stumbled upon your channel today, with this being the first video that I watched. I have binge watched most of your stuff, and you have easily earned a subscription from me. Shame the LT6 hadn't come out when you made this video, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Cheers!
First of all there's two different LS1 blocks for instance 2002 Corvette 5.7 L LS1... 2002 Corvette ZO6 5.7L LS6... totally different blocks but very similar.. literally the 5.7 LS6 block is thicker... I heard the 241 heads that there's two sides of them.. all the era and the newer revised era.. I'm not totally sure about the headset up being different... which I'm very curious about... Corvettes with a 5.7 rotating assembly 1 which is the Z06 has a more aluminum material in the block... so definitely two very similar aluminum blocks in the Corvettes... so I've seen people say oh the HP limit on a build have a 5.7.. aluminum block is limited... yep all depends on the era of the 5.7 aluminum LS block
Very interesting indeed! Thanks, that clears up a lot of confusion. The powerglide was great for neutral drops.... couldn't kill it. Whatever the Chevette had in it (probably a TH200)? could go 60 mph full throttle and then into reverse where it would skid to zero mph and then start kindly backing up. (video on my channel) Got a Vette original footage). Thanks again.
Lq4 is where it is at
A SBC Dart Block 434 Afr Heads Forged Internals, Msd Ignition, Holly Sniper Fuel Injection For The Win!!!!
Pros vs cons. More weight. But way more horsepower.
This video has given me some ideas for my 77 which I am planning to restore body to a 70 1/2, find a wrecked or cheap 6th gen to use the suspension and drive train... hopefully looking a little like the Roadster Shop Rampage on completion. I'm sure it will cost me into the 6 figures and a few years of my time.
Will the lq4/9 6.0 cam swap to the l92 ??
I wonder why it seems like all or the majority of the iron block 6.0's on marketplace seem to be the lq4 instead of lq9
I'm looking to add headers on 2006 pontiac grand prix gxp 5.3 with a BTR truck Norris cam!! I want that extra added hp and sound and raise up the RPM range
i am a retired professional transmission rebuilder for 45 years. the 2004R was never in a corvette. they had a multi case bolt pattern and can be bolted to any GM v8 block. they were one of my favorites. i have one today in my 86 monte carlo SS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I like the 4 valves per cylinder with the Ford, but with variable cam timing and direct injection, reliability suffers. On my Mustang, I deactivated the variable cam nonsense when I installed Comp cams. I believe the Chevy guys do the same
This detailed info is right up my alley. Always like the 3rd gen and wanted one. I've owned a 4th gen (Ok, it was a Firebird), and now a 6th gen SS 1LE. Fantastic car.
Well done! Thanks for sharing
I will add a couple of negatives of the LS. 1: must pull the head off just to change a lifter (which seem to fail very regularly). compounded by 2: the weak arse threads fail on the alloy block when pulling the heads. After having my 3rd thread fail, I have sold my ls and gone back to a small block.
Thank u for this video I am ls swapping my c5 soon and needed a guide on what to do cause the engine was not cutting it even though it has a ls already
Injectors 💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
I'm just Starting my build witch is my dad's first car and was past down to me and it's a 74 plymouth duster with a 340 magnum and I will have this car at Altamont badassery lol minus slaming it not a fan of muscle cars being slammed to the ground
Very informative 👍
Big thumbs up for 68 camaro swap idea
I’m a ford man the LT engine wins hands down on aftermarket parts and simplicity works better for me better engine size for a more universal engine in fitment across different models.. yeah over head cam is good but LS LT push rod is just as good I say ford needs to stop trying to make Ferrari engines bring it back to the good Old basics 351 Windsor and Cleveland cubic inch talks how about ford remakes the Windsor but this time put proper heads on it …. Chev has won this party 🎉 for me 😎 ford needs to wind 💨 it back to Reality bring back the pushrod engine and make money on aftermarket race parts again
So what is a 4L65-E?
Flow through the valves isn’t dictated by the surface area of the opening but rather the curtain area (circumference X lift). Generally a smaller valve can move more quickly (and further) than a larger valve.
So you can rev a small block a little higher yeehaw, and you get nothing out of it. No replacement for displacement boys . . .
This is a very Chevrolet-centric video. Many significant GM automatic transmission types were overlooked, especially those from the other divisions. The title "All 15..." is very misleading.
Great channel! Thank you!
4l80 6speed trans not the 4 speed
I’m thinking if an LS-3 in my Saturn sky! Has the stock AR-5 trans any sug very much appreciated! Thank you !
Hey I was there
The wagon is not a donk is a 1971 to 19 76 Chevy Caprice.Or impala
Vvt is bs don’t listen to this guy
VVT GIVES YOU WORSE PERFORMANCE
Guess what lt1 still has all the vvt bs too.. they made a perfect motor and ruined it with that
Ls motors are direct injected he’s wrong
I can't stand bags. Most bagged vehicles have issues sooner or later. And the ride is kind of spongy. Just not really designed for good handling. Also, you say you would daily drive that SUV with those big wheels, but that ride is going to be harsh with those wheels. Need a little more rubber.
Your graph is wrong. The 396 and the 427 shared the same stroke at 3.76, but the 427 had a bore of 4.25 which was shared with the 454. The 454 had a stroke of 4 inches. The math for calculating cubic inches is bore X bore X stroke X .7854 times 8 as in cylinders.
👍👍👍
You do not want equal length headers on most V8's. You want no more then one pulse reaching the collector at any one time but because of their firing order, 2 will sometimes reach it at the same time preventing scavenging.
Depends on what you're doing with the car. For drag racing dollar for dollar the big block is best! If you build a 400 small block and a 396 big block, and are limited to the same budget the big block will make more power. A gasoline engine is norhing more than an air pump. The more air in and the more air out with the corresponding amount of fuel, the more h.p. you will make! A stock big block head has bigger ports than the biggest aftermarket aluminum head!!!
