The single most interesting fact about "Grand Prix" was that it guaranteed the future for the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team. He painted his cars up like the fake Japanese team, for money, and he did trie very hard to get it all sorted to race properly, but the Ford V8 and the Serenisima V8 were both too heavy and lacking in power. Bruce was always great at getting what he needed when he needed it.

@@constipatedparker5879 It's called LIFE, Constipated - and Grand Prix racing isn't a 'safe space' sport. For your information, it was the promoters and circuit owners who were reckless by failing to enact (expensive) safety standards. The drivers were just trying to make a living. You can't be 'reckless' and drive a F1 car - you won't live long enough to become reckless. These men, and yes they were all men, were extremely capable and thanks to the likes of Jackie Stewart (et al) were instrumental in pushing for elevated safety standards. This boomer concludes by saying : KISS MY ASS! As hard as it may be for you to understand..... Those were indeed great days before subsequent generations fucked everything up. Take a look around.... I rest my case! ✌

@@jimw.4161 racing is supposed to be racing, not being incinerated and burned to a crisp alive while trapped inside of a magnesium and lead-fuel coffin because neither the sport you're racing for and the people managing your team cares for your safety as a driver. if the players of your sport need to put their lives not on the line, but straight inside the noose every time they play the sport, then maybe somethings wrong with it and needs to be examined and fixed. i'm not saying they weren't good drivers, by all means they were very good drivers and this goes same for the cars, the cars were very good for the time but this time is long gone and should never come back. (its not totally unsafe though, im sure the hay bales can stop a 250 km/h racing car from plowing into a crowd)

@@finnegan6464 F1 racing will never be a completely safe sport. However, as you say, safety standards have risen considerably since the 1960s - thanks largely to the efforts of drivers like Jackie Stewart. Hi Bob, the car (unfortunately now under new ownership) was rolling road tuned and carbed with twin Dellorto DHLB35's, breathing through custom trumpets and air filter arrangement. Fuel supply via electric pump through carefully set-up pressure regulator and out through custom sports exhaust, standard ignition, uprated coil and slightly hotter plugs - block, pistons, cams were all standard 1300. Produced about 110bhp. Lovely cars, have fun! ;)

Some comments here that they are F3 cars made to look like F1 of the day. However, this may not be accurate. I know that on some tracks Phil Hill drove a F1 car with a camera mounted on the nose in the actual race. The scenes at Spa as the car drove into the rain storm was filmed during the race in this manner. Certainly there were F3 cars dressed as F1 but I thought they were for the scenes where the actors were shown driving.
