    I bought exact same car a month ago and i must say i am really really impressed with the car coming from a Nissan leaf . The car isnt perfect but its a well built car and does what a car should do. On normal mode on motorway way i get 250/255km effortlessly and on mixed driving eco mode i get around 320km on a full charge. Brilliant car for what i paid. Bought its after a 2yrs lease from a company so had it on a bargain

    Great video. I've been looking at the new MG4's here in Spain (I'm a kiwi living here) I tst drove one last week and it drives surprising well and even sporty feeling. They are about to go up in price thanks to a new EV trade war looming. It means we might see MG's possible import tax rate at 38% which is going to be crazy as they where the only really good cheaper option I feel. I don't like the French or German EVs we do have. I drive a PHEV myself a 2023 model C300e estate and it has only a 25Kwh battery but it's given me the damn EV bug as I always want more EV range and getting tired of charging every few days! So I feel I should have gone full EV, and we also have plenty of free 11kw chargers about so I never really pay for charging. Have you tried the MG4 Xpower? Looks like a beast but the range is only around 280-300km real range in Eco mode.

    My worry is that those that buy it may return to fossil due to it's various shortcomings, which maybe what Toyota wants, or perhaps if we're lucky they will instead drop their brand loyalty and switch to an EV that is just better. Mind you Toyota needs to do something as Jan 1 they won't be selling their fossil cars in Norway, they are barely if at all selling them in China now and then as we reach more milestone dates they will lose more market share due to not being able to sell any new fossil cars in other countries.

    Funnily enough watched a Kris Rifa video this morning talking about range tests and how everyone does them slightly different. I think the main takeaway though is to do it as a loop so you get a fair balance in case of elevation change, weather, traffic, etc. As for stopping totally agree, just recently moved up from my 28kWh Ioniq I had on lease and sold that to a friend to the 64.8kWh Kona and so different particularly now it's winter since we've just past the solstice and to basically be able to run it for an entire week without needing to charge. But also the longer road trips when i get to do one typically I stop every 2-3hrs not for a comfort break all the time but just to get out stretch my legs, some fresh air and such so also would plug in(if need to).

    Even at 900 per KW it is still ridiculously expensive!

  • @Snerdles
    @Snerdles13 күн бұрын

    That's because installation is a fairly fixed cost and the battery expansion doesn't change it all that much. It's the same with solar panels. Due to roof design I tried getting solar panels installed and all my quotes had payback periods over 20 years since I can only fit so many panels. More panels on an easier roof even with all the other equipment and panels being the same would be far less expensive per kWh.

    @@4431mike They price to what the market can bare but I think we will see prices drop over next 3 years as Home Batteries are an easy market when over supplied with batteries. ie Always there and just get the price right and people will buy. I reckon $ 500 / KWH installed would mean most solar owners install a battery.

    Only 2% of the hydrogen produced to date is Green Hydrogen and about 8x more expensive than petrol or diesel. All other types of the gas are produced from fossil fuels; effectively they are still running their stand from a fossil based fuel system.. Its way more efficient to pump hydro produced energy direct into a battery to run a car or truck than go via any conversion process to a hydrogen end use. Toyota are getting desperate...

    Except 95 plus percent of Hydrogen is creating using processes like steam reforming of methane, net result is more emissions than just burning the methane. Only upside is you are moving the health impacts of burning fossil fuel somewhere else. If you are interested the hydrogenscience coalition provide a great breakdown of where hydrogen does and doesn't make sense according to physics and economics, spoiler -power generation and transport don't.
