The Lost Gardens of Chateau de Rosieres
The Lost Gardens of Chateau de Rosieres
Returning a huge, abandoned chateau estate to its 17th Century glory. Decades of destructive forestry ruined the medieval estate of Chateau de Rosieres in southern France. Follow our journey to rescue 130 acres of the castle's historic lands, returning the estate to its self-sufficient heydey of the 17th Century: Rich, productive vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, a working farm, vineyards, ornamental gardens and much more... All based on environmentally-friendly, sustainable principles.
We are Amy and Marc, a French-British couple with young children and far too many birds and animals. We're also painstakingly restoring the medieval castle and outbuildings. You can follow that part of the journey on our other KZread channel: @TheGreatChateauRestoration where we show DIY, restoration and renovation work plus historical exploration of the fascinating, centuries-old chateau.

You guys deserve 100k subs for the amazing videos....come on people
Thank you so much 😀
Marc, you certainly need a break from all the rain. Missed seeing Amy today, I guess she has been working in the family room on the ground floor. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
What an unusual but fascinating vlog from you both. How exciting to have the space to indulge in this project. I love them, especially with the history attached. Sorry about Marks predicament, I imagine it's torture for him, but I remember all those gardening volumes he purchased at auction a while back. Perhaps he is able loose himself in those whilst recovering. ❤WCL
Looks like Marc should have measured the tensegrity of the top pipe before cutting the first pipe and position the connector in the middle of the wall and saved himself a trip to the shop! 🤔
A very successful recovery to you, Marc (sp?) and make sure to ease back slowly with care and rest.
Marc, give in and have multiple sets of tools in different areas of the estate. Convenience is important to you because you have so many different projects going on simultaneously all over the estate. Your time is more important than a few extra euros for multiple tools!
Margot just love watching you do magic with the stones 🤗👍 Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
I’m with you, Mark! You admired it as it was originally so don’t muck it up by making changes (leave the door as it is!)!
You guys are fabulous! Thank you for this!
What are the dark patches on the blue wall. Is there humidity coming through?
Behind that wall is the large cistern that we put in. The hole behind it hasn't been filled in yet because we have other work to do in that area, so some water comes through when it rains.
Margo is a GREAT JOYFUL worker. A blessing.
Go Margot go!
Glad Marc is getting better. I love how you re-purpose old Medieval building stones, Margo is a great stone walk builder, she found the good flat top rock to use. Clement is lending a hand and will be a great helper as he learns while he grows.
Wow guys, looks lovely. As in the UK,fed up with the rain I expected. Love to all K🇬🇧❤️
With time lapse/previous film it is hard to see who is OK. But I hope everyone is OK and doing well? If foot injuries are a problem, I would recommend steel toe leather boots - bit expensive, but they can reduce hospital costs/time! Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 John Ken
Hi John, this was all filmed before the accident, but everybody is doing ok now. The injury was above the foot but I do keep working on Marc to wear his steel toe capped boots (he has them!)
It's really interesting to see how Marc has thought through each particular function on the grounds and outbuildings of the chateau. He certainly has an engineering mind! Just need to keep him from getting injured and keep him out of hospital! 😊 Hope the recovery is going smoothly.
Marc is so smart. He seems to be good at everything.😊
Margo is really creative with those stones looking forward to seeing it finished
Can I please borrow Margot for some heavy duty chores around the house? What a trooper!
Best wishes to Marc again and thank you for editing this retrospective. 🥰
I love everyone’s work ethic.
Awesome❤
Looking Great! Get well soon Marc!
So glad to hear that Marc is recouperating. That means a lot.
Marc is such a handy man to have around. Marc needs a bucket to carry his tools, very trendy in the US. It's so nice to see Marc share his digger.
Wow. Loved this
i like your sound track ami.
cleaning out the water house i cant believe u walked around the ladder the whole time. lol
I get your posts on a Sunday morning in NZ, which I really look forward to. A lazy morning with brunch and catching up on your latest escapades. I love Sundays.
That's lovely! I'm so glad you enjoy them!
Thank you for the update on Marc. All the best in his continued recovery. Love the landscaping!!
Lovely to see a new video. Even better to hear Mark is recovering well.
Watching Clement helping Margot brought back so many memories of being 2 years old and helping my dad to build a stone patio. I sold him the stones for 6s/6d each ( it was the only sum of money I knew at the time), I would also help him mix cement, making sure that the water didnt run away then pinch his buckets to collect worms in or frogs , dependent upon which was more plentiful at the time. My dog even got in on the act by bringing frogs to me in his mouth ( totally unharmed as he was very gentle with them). My dad died last December and it was a wonderful reminder of times gone by. Thanks Margot and Clement!❤❤
Thank you for sharing that! What a lovely story.
Good morning from Bulgaria, what is the music from approximately 15 minutes onwards .. merci
Hi there! We use music from a database called Epidemic Sound, which produces music specifically for content creators like this. So it isn't a publicly available track I'm afraid.
I just love all of the music you choose for these videos, Amy ... It makes watching just that much better! 💞
Every Chateau needs a Margot!
I need a Margo!
I love how the gardens are coming together.
Gorgeous office and boudoir thanks to your inspired moving team and path scaling by Margo and Marc plus Supervisor Clement❤❤❤
Hard graft, but very satisfying in the end!
Margot is a treasure. I bet you'd adopt her if she'd let you.
Lots of progress in your different areas, glad to hear Marc is also progressing in his recovery. Don’t forget to look after yourself as well Amy. ❤❤
The stonework is looking great. Margot has the touch and Clement is a terrific helper. Hope Marc is feeling better. ❤
Awesome progress. Clement and Grandma and all seem to have really enjoyed it. Marc, I hope you are healing well.❤
Every time you see Margo's rock creations, it will bring back wonderful memories of her time at Rosieres. 🥰
BEST TO YOU
It becomes more amazing with every step! ♥️♥️♥️
Best wishes Marc and hope you have a speedy recovery.
Looking great!
Rain, rain go away! The stonework is going to be beautiful and Margot has really developed a passion for working with stones. She’s leaving her mark on the gardens of Chateau de Rosieres! Marc’s water system is brilliant. I’m very happy to hear that he is on the mend and following doctors orders. ❤
Who is Margo? Is she a relative?

How will you manage without Margo ?
