  im gonna say something that nobody ever likes to hear but, JUST SAVE UP FOR THE REAL THING you will be much happier with a 2k dollar monocular than with dual sickening digital nvgs

  How? He presents the facts and even provided a database of specs, so you can compare what you like. Granted it was provided to him and he honestly gives his opinion towards the end which is not that heavily in favor compared to other devices. Sorry, but I disagree with your assessment.

  I still have my 1st gen Russian tube. I was into night vision before night vision was cool. It worked - ish (for what it was) I also owned an OG PVS-7 and that thing was great (for what it was) I now own an NVG30 and am exceptionally happy and completely surprised for what this unit can do. It’s proof that year after year, digital is coming ever closer to making the choice toward blurring the difference. I have been walking almost nightly with the NVG30 without illumination (for the most part) Will I be driving my quad at 40mph through the woods with this? No. But for using it in and around my home and forest, for fun and security, absolutely. I have a rifle mounted IR Illuminator/laser (TLR VR) and as soon as I’m able (recovering from cancer), I’ll post some videos on my barely used KZread channel. I’ll mount the TLR on a pistol and demo it from my perspective of ownership. The mount by the way, is not perfect, but perfectly serviceable. Lastly, there is supposed to be an app, but I can’t find it. If NVG30 ever developed an app where you can program from your phone, or tablet, that would make this unit just about perfect - especially for the price. Really lastly, I’d also love at some point to pair this with a thermal. I’m almost wondering if adding thermal 1x to a bridge, might make the NVG30 close to perfect for home security.

  I have my husky on me at all times. Both used at work for cutting large boxes right down to using it while fishing. Easy of use and safety, not to mention how simple it is to rotate and switch blades.

  I have the prybrid and blade locking mechanism is terrible. Blade slips out when doing down push cuts. I was cutting the seam of drywall where the corners meet and the blade slips out. When I actually want to replace the blade, it doesn't want to release the blade. If it wasn't for that, it would be a decent EDC.

  How’s this compare to the “NVG40 Pro Digital” monocular you have for sale?

  Planning to come out with a video on that in the next few weeks but so far in my initial testing the NVG40 pro is much more reliant on IR lighting in low light conditions compared to the NVG30. The Field of view is also more compact, but it does have a circular view which is nice. It is a good unit for the price if you have no problems running ir light. The Nightfox prowl and the night operators max 2.0 are more in the same league as the nvg40s and i'll be including some comparison shots in that review.

  Can you see the IR illuminator's on these digital NVG's? That's the big problem I've had so far is that all the ones I've seen make it VERY easy for people with out NVG's (like in night-time airsoft matches), to spot you with the naked eye because you have a big red or purple glowing thing light on your head.

  The 10 is a very well constructed unit. Sturdy and solid. It would nice if the nvg10 manufacturer upgraded the 10. External USB port for recharging the battery in place or external battery and allow for firmware upgrades, a micro SD slot to record video, and update to a better vid chip.

  @@brianchandler7118 haven't had any luck powering them from cr123s. You can power the devices with a power bank with or without the batteries in.
