Our lake is dying. Between the dropping lake level, way too much development, invasive zebra mussels and not much hope of water replenishment in the near future, folks need to stop moving here. Also, the beautiful pictures of the lake and kayakers were very nice, but they were not of Canyon Lake. I do not recall any pine trees on the shoreline, nor any waves breaking on a reef when kayaking. Please stop promoting this area.
I am sorry but most of this is BS... The lake is down 25 feet... It is not a good place to live. Over run by too many people. I would say look for somewhere that gets rain.. It is super hot in summer.. The places to eat are few that are any good at all.. Housing market is not good.. Again, Don't believe this glowing report about the lake seen here..
The best kept secret? It is drying up? There's no water in it and I think only one boat ramp may be open. Heartbreaking.

Development and surrounding communities are using water faster than what is being replenished over the past 6 years. 2021 was the only year the lake went up due to weather system. Unless demand decreases, it will continue to drop. It is now at a record low.
Growth is going to continue because we live in such a desirable area. Water resources around San Antonio and Austin are seeing the pressure due to drought. Rain will bring some relief, but we do need conserve. I agree

I own a home in South Texas but I don't live there. So I don't qualify for a homestead exemption; my taxes are now almost 2X those that do. To get a reasonable cap rate, I will need to charge a rent beyond what my tenant can afford to pay. I will probably have to sell. Not hard to see that a lot of small landlords will move away from owning rental properties. What did the poor renters living in Texas do to deserve this? Property tax reform should consider homesteaders, landlords, and renters and treat them all fairly. . .
Investors and landlords definitely have to consider the carrying cost of each property. However, there are a lot of benefits to owning real estate in the long run, with potential equity even for the small landlords. If your property is in the San Antonio area, I'd be happy to run numbers for you. Have you checked the rental rates in your area letely?

I'd be happy to do a comparison of San Antonio with your city. Where do you live? There is good and bad to all big cities.
@@SanAntonioHomesInsider I can agree to that, and I should be more specific by saying that San Antonio has some very harsh areas. I’ve seen communities that I’m willing to live with my young family, but the surrounding areas always makes me reconsider why I shouldn’t take the plunge. Generally, I’ve noticed that there is active gang violence and that’s cause enough. I’m in a suburb north of Seattle. While I don’t lean politically left, up in my neck of the woods no one really does so that doesn’t bother me, and there is no active gang violence. Typically, all that political mess is center in the down town areas or what can effectly be considered the “inner city” which, originally being from the east coast, Seattle doesn’t really have. San Antonio seems to be having issues that make me believe the move isn’t worth it. Illegal immigration (being on the border), active gang violence, horrible state of inner city, homelessness, and higher probability of being killed, molested or assaulted.
@WisomofHal I do get your point. There can definitely be safety issues in bigger cities. However, I've lived here almost 10 years and have not been affected by violent crimes. As a real estate agent, we do see the good, bad, and ugly, but I personally don't feel unsafe. There are pros and cons for sure. If you were to visit and check out different areas around the city, you may have a different opinion. I appreciate you checking out what we have to say on our channel!
