    As sick as that #2 solo is, he does an even BETTER solo toward the end of that performance, starting at about 18:05. He and Chick are duelling to the death. It's just absolutely insane.

    Nobody is going to mimic this this is the unmatched drum solo of all time Dennis Chambers is the Michael Jordan Jackson Tyson of drumming if you would put him on the stage along the side of Michael Jackson back in both of their primes the crowd would have been looking at Milton Chambers which is his real name Milton has Independence of the limbs Rolls chops fills pocket grooves a recognized style

  • @DrumLife
    @DrumLifeАй бұрын

    Finally someone has said it, we did this challenge for one reason, to further cement how great Chambers is, this new generation of drummers believe in part that his contributions aren’t at the level they should be - so our response is just play a little bit of what he played, to our surprise NO ONE HAS ATTEMPTED! We should celebrate the ones that come before us!!!!!

    The guy plays EVERY style like a master. Megadeath to Metheny! I mean, come on! Can sight read like no other. Has it all covered. A drummers drummer. Artists love working with him for what he brings to the table, no matter what style. And his pocket is one of the best also, no matter what style. Innovate chops, great feel, perfect time / etc. Truly one of the greatest drummers and overall musicians of our time !

    3:18 that is 7/4 As for the note values that "he just played on the hi hats" that is tricky because What do you mean by the Just played.

    why cant i listen to it for more than 30 seconds? it doesnt mean it sounds good nor is it musical. cause its not. he tries too hard to fool drummers with self indulgent playing and super complicated rhythms. i actually really liked his drumming in the 80s much more....

  • @Hhhlll7778
    @Hhhlll7778Ай бұрын

    I see where you coming from but to call him fooling other drummers is an insult, I believe he is truly in his own world trying to push the boundaries of drumming

  • @MrDarkstar620
    @MrDarkstar620Ай бұрын

    If that's the case, then put Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers, and other legends in that box. Lol. He's mastered drumming and is now pushing boundaries. This is a thing for every artist that takes their craft seriously. Don't dress up your opinion as a fact and discredit someone who knows what they're doing. Please: that's very toxic.

    Comparing art is pointless to me. I love both of their unique styles. Nate even dedicated a piece to Steve on Pocket Change 2. I am thankful that they decided to share their wonderful music with us. My heroes can coexist in my mind, but I have to say that Nate shaped me like no other. He's always going to be the maestro of maestros to me. I can only laugh when people say one player is "better" than another player at that level though. I am so glad it doesn't work like that.

    It doesn't matter what top skills the drummer has - what matters is the music as a whole and the composition. That means song material, arrangement, orchestration, the quality of the fellow musicians! And David Weckl was lucky enough to play with the best composers and musicians of his generation, like so many other top-talented drummers. This lively scene hardly exists these days, the prospects of being involved in various projects in the long term and earning enough MONEY are extremely minimal. In a word: There is a lack of incentive and prospects to take the risk of becoming a professional musician and practice many hours a day for years. Hardly any studio jobs, few well-paid live gigs and rarely a major national tour or even world tour with any well-known stars. It's no longer worth it to become a top musician given today's conditions!
