Capt Dan - originally from New York and wife Elizabeth: from Illinois moved from the west coast of FL to Key Largo, Florida April 2017 (just in time for hurricane Irma) to pursue our dream of fishing and diving the Florida Keys. Seems pretty routine to me. Once they determined you weren't in compliance with the required safety equipment for your vessel, you should expect a thorough boat inspection and should be thankful for just a warning. You also seemed a bit annoyed by the fire suppression / flag thing which won't sit well with the FWC crew. Know the requirements next time and maybe be a bit more formal with your interactions and things will go faster. These guys are looking for additional violations once they have reason to believe they may exist.

I too am retired military and respect our law enforcement and abide by the law. I understand checking the catch, safe equipment, registration and licenses but the full court press to look in every compartment just a little bit over the top and definitely goes into invasion of privacy category for me

I think you have presented this real better than Heiko although I love Heiko sometimes he drift off into space, especially when he shows the spinning wheel he should give more attention to how it’s working, which one he’s using, but he doesn’t do that. Maybe you can wake him up.

I think it's fair to say the entire stop was justified. With that said, I was surprised you didn't end up in handcuffs. I've watched a lot of videos chronicling FWC encounters and believe they are more of a revenue producing entity than safety and fish & wildlife enforcement. I don't say that lightly; I am almost always pro-LEO. The FWC arrests sober people for BUI regularly and allows the legal system to sort it out. It really is too bad the organization as a whole is ok with ruining the live of law abiding citizens. And yes, I do understand they get dangerous people off of the water too. That is expected. Well I hope you are wrong about them arresting people who really aren’t BUI just to harass the public and put them through the system. Those are the ones that abuse their power and cause the public to demand police reforms and defunding of LEO. That is not what we want. We want fair policing and those that are clearly breaking the law punished in accordance with the law making the public safer. What we don’t want is arbitrary stop, search, and seizures without true probable cause. Stopping someone for a “Safety Check” is BS. You would not tolerate a stop and search of your vehicle for a safety check; so why should that be acceptable when on your vessel?

You guys are awesome one day I want to move to the keys. I used to live on the water in Palm Coast, but my husband cheated on me five years ago. I divorced him sold my house and I miss fishing so bad so at least I get to watch you guys you are amazing.

@@FloridaFishingCouple I went fishing the other day and caught two nice mangoes I fish under the bridge by my house. I have a cast net. I catch my own shrimp or mullet for a couple hours. It was so much fun and relaxing.
Man I just knew Dan wasn't there when you made your comment about fitting the taco in your mouth 😂 You should look into the DJI Osmo Action 3 or 4. Luckily my GoPro 9 hasn't given me any issues. The only thing I can say is the front screen had a few horizontal lines but that doesn't affect the video/picture quality. I knew it happened while I was moving about on a sailboat but I know I didn't hit it hard at all. All the reviews I've read favor the DJI Osmo Cheers 🥃

Back in the 90's I made a trip to Melbourne beach FL we decided to grill and sun was shining like waves every ten minutes it would rain sun out the entire time. I got soaked plus how can tomatoes cost that much there Publix Gold off the vine. Remind you 90's $6.34 for three tiny tomatoes. Geez!!! Hate to buy them there now.
Ahhhh, the liquid sunshine (rain and full blown sun) can be nice sometimes! And, yeahhhh, let’s not even talk about the price of groceries here… 🫠
