1 tv screen can be used as a background for small product videos. I've been using my single tv screen with stock video backgrounds I combine in Resolve. It's a nice way to add a background. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4BqtrScd8bMm84.htmlsi=HZUZDIJxDIjsveXG

You can get one of those backlit things for a TVs where it lights up the wall behind it and all around and use that as your light around your subject to mimic the environment that you're showing on the screen

Great idea, thanks for sharing. Have you tried a projector? I tried a cheap projector, and the result was not bad.

Out of curiosity, do you think a short-throw laser projector TV might work in place of panels? Or do you think that presents its own set of problems?

A sample of finished work you’ve done, snippets rather than the whole content, would be good to see, that way I’d be better placed to make a comment about whether it’s a good idea. It looks like it might be, but I need those samples.

The thing I don’t like with this ai Fx is continuity. The ability to get different angles from a fake room.

Why not use a powerful 4K projector with back projection? You can have a much bigger screen then. You’d obviously need to be way more careful with your lighting, but it should be pretty doable

What I can say is that when “cheap” in-studio shoots are this complex, leaving the studio is for the birds in any situation you can avoid it. All of which is why I chose radio over TV some 50 years ago.

Why not use a projector instead of 3 TV's? I'm going ot use Canadian prices here but 3 inexpensive 74 inch TV's are going to cost you 1000$ each so 3000$ in total and that's not counting mounting brackets and so on. You could replicate this from anywhere from a few hundred dollars to 6000$ (if you went crazy and got something like an LG Cinebeam Ultra Short Throw 4k laser projector) but you could certainly do soemthing with a 1000$ Can projector. If you are throwing it out of focus it doesn't need to be 4k, 1080p would work well. You just need a bright projector with good color and contrast so your projected blacks mostly match the real life shadows. Is there a reason you chose to go with 3 TV's instead of projection? I guess the TV's would be PROJECTED light instead of reflected and so would be brighter maybe?

a short throw projector accomplishes similar results, although without the ability to mimic the gloss of a window. that and a high quality projector might be more expensive than three cheap screens, especially considering longevity

I’ve been using my iMac 27” as a backdrop (along with my iPad Pro 12.9” as a floor) for Star Wars toy Photography for years now - so much easier and safer for me to shoot at home, where I can control everything, than out in the real world trying to find locations to suit the figures I shoot. - It’s a life saver, a time saver, a money saver and a biggest thing saved is MY SANITY!!!

ASUS has a reflective transparent strip that takes the pixels left and right, slightly stretch them to completely hide the screen bezels. It’s called ROG BEZEL FREE KIT ABF01 you could buy a bunch of them for your setup.

Not ridiculous. With a very simple, dedicated solar set up?…it’s low everything footprint and removes costs. If you could find lower lux LED (preorganic in case OLED are alive) that were power efficient? The only drawback to a back lit anything is what it does to exposure. A lower lux screen costs less, uses less power, and it will slightly blur on its own. Here is when it gets fun. In theater and some film, we have to fog the mirrors and some glass to avoid glares and hot spots. It already exists. It is a spray, already color corrected. 1 piece of clear photo friendly plastic, sprayed with real theatrical mirror fog? It will naturally blur and create massive chiaroscuro, the original depth of field. Depending on the thickness of the mirror fog, grading is customizable and easy, and there can be many pre sprayed fog “windows” to dial in the exact blur, mood, and lighting you need, it will cover the strips and unify the surface,…and, if you are lucky? There can be multiple cameras, and fish eye lenses closer to the subject(s) from many angles. Rock On!!! 🔥🔥🔥~ stefan

You can also mask the bezels of the TV by using Adobe's new AI generation video tool I think, not sure though. I know Davinci will also have some AI tools, but don't know exactly what kind of. Also, I think it is also possible to just have an image generated and then blurred, since it is blurred and will be static as a background, I think it also would work, and you don't have to buy 2K worth of TVs.

With you on this. Completely. I'm a graphic designer and cinematographer. I've loved creating visuals since a very early age and spent most of my childhood learning about colour, composition, lighting, and even to this day, nothing excites me more than learning more about the things that bring me so much joy! Sitting down with friends, writing scripts, saving up, and then actually shooting films that you spent months ideating and planning, carefully crafting each frame where every single element is intentional, is highly rewarding. Then coming back and adding sound and colour, getting feedback from a bunch of people, and making a million changes is a process that pretty much gives me purpose. It's not just about the money; there really isn't much else I would do with my time. This obsession is what got me through my worst moments and further intensified the joy of every cheerful situation. Will future generations ever understand the excitement of sacrificing sleep to hike up a hill and catch the perfect sunrise on camera? Or will they see this as a meaningless endeavour? Why would anyone want to appreciate beauty of any kind when everything can be generated so easily? A huge part of what makes something exceptional is the painstaking work and enormous amount of thought that goes into creating it. The effort is what makes great work rare and hence, great. If everyone can generate everything with absolutely no effort, the emotions that are induced by what is rare today, will lose all of its intensity. I started feeling this way long ago, but the AI rage has simply heightened my fear. A few years ago, when AI wasn't a household term, people started talking about a future where every car will be self-driven, and all I could think of were the plethora of beautiful moments I hold on to from taking road trips with my friends, taking turns driving, and exploring places that seemed unexplored. The nights when I roll the windows down and drive around aimlessly, feeling on top of the world. Machines were supposed to make our lives easier, not take away our sense of purpose. What will bring people joy in the future? What will induce a sense of passion? What will humans do with their time? And of course, how will we sustain ourselves in society if machines start to possess our skills?

Looks great but when you switched over to Andrew I was hoping he would go into detail. What resolution project is in resolve? Does it have a particular name? How do you prevent flare from the tv. I thought that was going to be the problem you were going to say. For the strips, are they attached through velcro? But a deeper dive into the setup in resolve would’ve been nice. Or at least the source you used

Why not use retro projection like in the old days or even short-throw laser projection? There are some affordable 4K projectors nowadays with lots of lumens and would make up to a 300” image. Just wondering. Sure you guys already thought about it and weighed all costs involved.

They make bezel hiding strips you can put between two monitors. They reflect the image over the bezel making it almost disappear if you're not focused on it. I don't know if they make them big enough to use for what you're doing though.

been having the same crisis over the last few weeks - I have all the same skills besides painting and I fear that my childhood and adolecense that I used to build those skills was for nothing - there is no scalable human art anymore - unless we can seriously market the human aspect of each thing that was made - my whole theory for building anything going forward is painstakingly marking every nuance of creativity in order to convey just how much effort went into these things - we watch Christopher Nolan because of how real we know his movies are - and we watch people do their own stunts because we know the risk they took - art used to embody the effort that was put into it - but it can't anymore, effort to output was a 1-1, then a 1-10, now it's 1 to ∞ - barely anything will be made with effort going forward - but proof of effort and heart will make things stand out infinitely more and therefore audiences will be drawn to it

I think as creatives we have to embrace imperfections in our work. AI may be able to eventually make a full length feature film, but it will be boring, and formulaic, and clinically perfect. It won't be able to mimic the weird little idiosyncracies of humans. In your song example, the lyrics you wrote were the interesting part. When you ask the AI to write lyrics, I find that they kinda suck. I like messing around with AI but I see it as a tool; I use it for inspiration. But maybe I'm delusional.
