I’m amazed I’m writing this. I do street photo And live between 35 & 50mm. When going to a demonstration or parade I will use a 28mm lens. I just purchased a Sony A7C because I couldn’t acquire a Fuji X100V/VI. I just bought an 85/1.8 lens. I don’t really know what is going on here. I’ve watched a couple of KZread videos that argued that the 85mm lens can be used for street photography. I will see. I will try doing street portraits. I will try taking photographs from a further distance from my subjects. Yes, as you suggest, I don’t have to get close to my subjects. Quite the contrary, I can’t get close to my subjects due to the focal length. I will experiment and see how using this focal length works out. I selected the 85/1.8 for three reasons. It is small and lightweight. This lens is at the limits for this small body. Finally, it is cheaper than the f1.4. This experiment is a radical departure in focal length for me. I don’t know if I’ll enjoy using this focal length. As a result, I want to limit my exposure to losing money if I decide to sell it. There is a street carnival this weekend so I will have an opportunity to play with this lens. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

I’m new to photography. I have the Canon EOS Rebel T7 with a 18-55mm and a 75-300mm lens and a 256gb SD card. I just got my camera almost a week ago. I was having issues with the 75-300mm lens. When I was using that lens my photos were burry and had a white glow over the photo and you couldn’t see anything. Someone told me to switch from manual to p and that fixed the issue. I did take a lot of photos with my 18-55mm lenses and shared them on a camera group on Facebook. A lot of feedback suggested I need to learn more of the basics of my camera, exposure and iso but it was all a great start to the photos I took. I have my camera set to P, iso is at 400 but I change it between 200-800 depending on the image I’m trying to capture and the light in the room/place. The camera is set to raw. Because I saw a video on Tik Tok and the girl said to set the camera to Raw because it allows for better editing quality later in Lightroom or whatever you use. I don’t know how to take videos with my camera yet. I’m trying to learn as much as I can before I go on our weekend trip next month to Corpus Christi for two days. My fiance has a bunch of things planned for us and he wants me to bring my camera so I can take pictures of everything. This is my first DSLR camera. I had camcorders and digital camera in the past but not since 2012 or earlier.

What you say is totally relevant but it depends of the country where you are. I am Belgian and live in Spain. I am focused to make the main of my revenues to UK, US and Belgium because here in Spain is almost impossible to have a decent life as an artist. This country is definitely not design for small businesses

I'm still thoroughly confused. Let's take shutter speed for example. You say in order to capture sports or activity pics you need a fast shutter speed to decrease blur(unless if that's what you want), BUT what you DON'T say is that if you use a faster shutter speed the pic will ALSO turn out DARKER because you're not letting as much light in. And conversely, if you use a SLOWER shutter speed you will get more blur BUT you will also get a brighter exposure.

The only thing I would;do add to your budget comments is for beginners to understand that interchangeable lens cameras will cost you more in lenses than the camera itself. Only spend half your budget on the camera body
