Regarding the crab tree, I fear the thinning of lower limbs won’t be successful. Rather I would through bolt the split in two places. Using 1/2” threaded rod and accompanying nuts and washers. Drill a suitable hole through the main trunk a couple inches below the fork and cut the rod after tightly securing the washers and nuts. Then turn your attention to the two limbs above the fork and repeat the process about 6-12” above the fork. This second rod will be a bit tricky to install since aligning the rod through the two holes made in the limbs will need to be precise. Not extra long drill bit is advised. Secure the nuts and washers as you did below, cut the rod to be nice and neat. Don’t over tighten so as to stress! And don’t worry, trees do fine with holes drilled through the trunk or limb. Monty, we love watching Gardeners World.

33:13 Simon Lycett i like your idea about that silver 2 inch chicken mesh wiring - which u need: twice the size of your container. * 🌷* 🌷* Thats the brilliant idea, so to speak.

Great transformation, but why do the creators never stain any of the new wood? His drawing showed dark stained wood.

Hmm, is the pergola just for the water feature?? A round fountain could have had seating around it. Space for afternoon tea with the family. ?? Something I didnt understand??

@Karincl7 of course. Sorta stupid comment. Do you think I judged the size of the water feature wrong?? Could be, I didnt see the real space accurately.

I had the same thought. It looks gorgeous but it’s not really practical. The placement and the size of the waterfeature is a little off. It could have been such a lovely sitting area

I think it may have had to do with the quadrilateral layout of islamic gardens, which was the aesthetic they were going for.

It's a lovely garden/plan with a beautiful selection of plants .The Agapanthus in the weathered containers is my favorite I think...however the L shaped seat is a bit low for a couple their age to be comfortable and useful..Charlie can hardly sit on it.A case of form over function. The pergola... "The perfect spot to seek some shade" as the voice-over stated. My question is how?...without even a few slats of wood across the top of the pergola or shade cloth ...hope the neighbour's tree is enough
