Hi! I'm Jess
I am a Rutgers graduate who spends the majority of my time reading when I'm not busy whooping my husband in board games. I'm a coffee addict who prefers to drink pumpkin spice iced coffee all year round, no matter the temperature. Although I’ve always been an avid reader, my love of reading really started in college when I read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.

I picked up The Perfectly Imperfect series on your recommendation, and I’ve loved every single one of them!!
Right now I am reading a Peter Pan retelling called Losing Neverland By Evelyn Montgomery and it is good so far. If you haven't read it you might wanna give it ago
My favourite reads last month were When the Moon Hatched and Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home. It wasn't the greatest reading month for me either though. I feel like there has just been too much going on workwise to properly let go and sink into another world. Fingers crossed July will be awesome. 😊
I appreciate your honest reviews ❤ if you didn't vibe with a book or several that is ok! I have so many books I want to read and hearing your honest reviews can help me prioritize what to read next.
Hopefully you have a better reading month in July
the singing didnt bother me but the giggles were TERRIBLE at higher speed. i did slow it down to 1.5 speed and it was fine then.
Maybe that's why the laughs didn't bother me. I was listening at 1.5. I still thought they were noticeable and a bit odd, but so too is Lark. 😅
Oh my goodness, I completely agree with the audio of Leather and Lark! The laughing was horrible. I think I would have liked the book better if I had read it physically. I listened to it at about 1.5 speed and the laughter was still super weird. I’m just glad I’m not the only one that thought it was odd.
Would you happen to have a video that explains the different subgenres of Fantasy Romance for those that are new to the channel/genre?

i will be checking out the mafia series you mentioned cause it sounds 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Where did you find that awesome shirt?😊
@@lorifrederick2367 it’s from hello lovely!
ohhh wow yeah I agree about Leather and Lark audiobook's laugh track and singing... still loved the story, but not as much as Butcher and Blackbird.
I loved A Court This Cruel and Lovely (I rated the first one 4 stars), but I also listened to the entire series, and the narration, particularly the female, was fantastic. Fun fact, the female narrator recommended this series to her partner, who normally doesn't read romantasy, and they loved it also. That's neither here nor there I just thought it was a fun fact to share lol.
I dnf Leather and Lark because of the audio
A Court This Cruel and Lovely I had to DNF. The pacing wasn't great for me, didn't connect to the characters. Felt it was rushed in some parts and slow in others.
the only book i loved in June was funny story i have had a bad month too, I did read when the moon hatched but I didn't like it the writing was too long and descriptive for me
I felt the same way about a court this cruel and lovely series. And his pet name for her- “wildcat” 🤢🤮🤮 I just couldn’t…
June was just a weird month for so many people.
i felt the same way about A Court This Cruel and Lovely! i tried picking up the sequel but couldnt get into it
Thanks for your videos! I read the Drowned Empire series by Frankie Mallis. While it can sometimes get a bit repetitive with the characters internal monologues, overall, I thought it was fun and look forward to the final book coming out. I really liked Ryhan, the male lead. Very slow burn.
The laughing in Leather & Lark was creepily high pitched and the singing was a big no.
Omg yessss
yes the laughing was so cringey lol did prefer it to the first one though
Yes!!!!! 💯
Heyy, thanks to u I wouldn't have read this book if it wasn't for this video❤ I'm happy that I did
I loved A Court This Cruel and Lovely! I even bought the second one and I’m hoping to read it soon. Too bad you didn’t love Trial of the Sun Queen. I’ve been Buddy reading the series and really enjoying it. I’ll be reading the third book for July and I’m excited.
The Book of Azrael by Leilah Wendell 😮💨
added more books to my TBR, like always 😂 When The Moon Hatched has been on my TBR for awhile and your praise for it makes me want to read it ASAP
I read it in June, and it was so good!!
👍❤
Whispers of the Deep was really good. I'm currently reading the second one, Song of the Abyss, and it's falling flat in comparison.
Such a fun and cool video!!!
Idk why i haven’t subbed to ur patreon I we have such similar tastes in books that I always know if I’ll like something based on ur recs! I’ll be subbing soon!
I felt your pain with some of these😖and I really enjoyed watching this ☺️💛
I think you should take your top 12 reread books you have listed as reread from thus and prior videos and place them all in a video together to do the ultimate reread burn rewrite video
I read The Fabric of Our Souls this month and really enjoyed it, I hope you like it too! There's a spin-off book that just came out and I want to read that soon.
I am looking for you on discord. How do I find you? I am new to all this. I looked below and could find it.
Similar thoughts on How Does It Feel & the sequel. If you enjoyed the unhinged villain, try reading Kathryn Ann Kingsley's the Unseelie Prince. 4 book series. Better pacing, world building and character development.
You should do a reread, rewrite, and burn on completed series. Sometimes the second book isn’t that great but if you do this on a completed series, it gives us all an idea of what to push through.
I am 100% positive that when you read The Sword of Kaigen you can only get better than when the moon hatched because nothing can top that book for me.
Recap for sure! I literally just got to this book an bd in not done yet, totally figured out the mate thing.
I read feathers so vicious because of your recommendation and I absolutely loved it. I devoured that book in a day! I can’t wait to read the second one!!
When I see The Last Lost Girl, I don't know whether I should continue watching because it's in my July TBR
When the moon hatched is really amazing ❤
I picked it up and look forward to it!
So good!!
Court of Ravens books were some of my only 5 star reads so far this year. So well done!
Hey , I’m fairly new to your channel 😊😊 I loveeeee your content ! I wanted to ask , as I can see you’re a fantasy reader 😊 I read more of dark romamce/romance and thrillers ! But I desperately want to dip my toe into fantasy , I have watched so many series that involve fantasy and I have always absolutely loved it , but I need to start with something pretty easy , what would you suggest for someone’s first fantasy read , with some romance in it 😊😊 thank you , Jennie❤
So I added you on patreon but I am confused on the bookclub you referenced. What is it and can I join?
Hi! The Bookclub is available for anyone who is a Fae Enchanter tier or above! If you’re in one of those tiers - join the discord from patreon and you’ll be able to interact with the book xl if there! I’ll also post the liveshow links to the book discussions on Patreon!
I also read whispers of the deep. I enjoyed it as well. It had some unique things in it. It was also a true enemies to lovers.❤
Powerless is sooooo so good!!! I’m not a YA fan… but the banter and the way the MMC talks to the MFC is better than spice to me 😂 Read the novella after powerless! Can’t wait for reckless!!!
Loved Still Beating. One of my favorites.
It seems like an impossible feat to have to “burn” any of these. I don’t think I could do it lol. I would love to see a dark romance one!
Yikes why would you do this to yourself? You could have tandem read tod and eos, that way it's not just him 😅 I think people who love a Court of Silver Flames love tod, both having healing and redemption and stuff. I loved both these and you hated them both 😂 The heart vibes with what the heart vibes with. I'm looking forward to finally getting to Golden Son and Bonesmith and The Rom-Commers and Glow of the Everflame, and just too many things honestly.
I really love the set up of A Ship of Bones and Teeth but I guess Karina Halle and me just don't vibe 😮💨
Looking forward to the readalong. Love me some pirate books!
