    Man, as an FPS gamer turned mountain sports enthusiast myself, this whole channel really hits a nerve like no other. Loved your intro here! I like how you're being honest about what inspires you and keep drawing from it without letting it veer off into the "useless LARPing for LARPing's sake" territory.

    One problem as a glasses user is that sweat can pretty quickly get on your glasses, making them incredibly annoying to use. Especially when it's hot and your rucking. I've noticed that with a shemagh it can stop the sweat from your forehead from getting onto your glasses, but I only realize now that i need to try out a beanie and see how it goes. Now the main question for me is whether to get the 56% wool 44% polyester smartwool sport beanie cuz i'd mostly be using it for hotter weather to stop dripping sweat, or the 88% wool 12% nylon one that you showed in the video. Any thoughts?

  • @KitCreep
    @KitCreep15 күн бұрын

    I’m a fan of the higher wool content because it doesn’t hold onto water the same way cotton or even “drifit” material would. And I agree about sweating with glasses. The beanie really does help.

    Does anyone know what if the sizing is like the OCP GEN 3 ECWCS Level 7 Army Extreme Cold Weather PRIMALOFT Jacket Parka Coat? I know the lvl 7 is on the bigger size so its recommended to go one size down, is this the same thing?

  • @KitCreep
    @KitCreep15 күн бұрын

    If you’re planning on using it with body armor, go a size up so you can wear it over top. If not, then get it in your shirt size. It’s oversized enough to layer without too much dead space. Also I prefer a size long to cover my ass tbh.

    Great presentation! Always found the answer to great glove question was... lots of gloves. Ski touring, fat biking, hiking, bushcraft, etc here on the wet and cold west coast of Norway it was always carry two or even three sets of liners, two options of shell and/or insulation mitts, and always have a pair of back-up/rewarming mitts (usually Buffalo mitts) in with your sleep socks.

    Do the danner combat hikers have a decent sized toe box, or do they run narrow? I'm seeing conflicting information online. I have naturally wide feet, and I wear super loose fitting rubber nonslip shoes on tile floors all day at work, and for any other activity I wear some sort of zero drop shoe/barefoot shoe, used to be just wide Vans but now it's mostly my Jim Green BFARs or Vivobarefoot boots, in the summer I wear Altama maritime mids or highs because my area is super swampy, been looking for a wider toebox alternative though. I've hiked up mountains on very rocky wet trails in all of these shoes with packs so suffice to say my ankles are very well conditioned and it's difficult for me to even put on "normal" shoes if they don't have an accommodating toe box. I've been looking for something with more support and protection just to have in the toolbox and these seem to be it especially with how cheap they are on ebay. I've tried a few milsurp european boots and they were all just too heavy without offering much more support, as well as being uncomfortably narrow.

  • @KitCreep
    @KitCreep2 ай бұрын

    I love the combat hikers but they do run a little narrow. They’re leather so they do a good job of forming to your foot. I got wides and they felt roomy at first but slowly formed to my foot. If you get wides and they feel too tight, they might break in well for you.

    Hey, Im Norwegian and we have some really good techniques for Baselayers and cold weather gear in general. Your use of the mesh(fishnet) is slightly wrong. The Norwegian army uses the the mesh against the skin and then something called Ullfroté basically a durable thin wool shirt where the outside is smooth knit and the threads on the inside are looped back on themselves trapping warm air and still letting vapor through. Il put a link below from the Norwegian army. Let me know if you want to have a conversation about this to. In Norway we say the same about synthetic as we say about coton. Only cold Americans wear it( just a joke about Marines freezing in the Norwegian mountains). Interesting to hear different approaches to cold weather tho😊 love your channel 🇳🇴🇺🇸 kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6VlpcuYg6e7itY.htmlsi=Fspi0ieHOBYhn1W0 Here is a video of Marines training in Norway, notice how they have been given Norwegian equipment because some of the US stuff doesn’t work that well. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpt7rbydmLXglZc.htmlsi=74SPKDDnWRxK81kw
