    Hi Frank. Sorry,me again! I’m must have the worst AT. Bike keeps blowing starter,fuel,ignition fuse after seconds of starting,but my continuity test said 0.5-0.6 to both. Do i still have to check all wiring for brake or could rectifier be sending too much power? Also is 60 amp rectifier too much for xrv750? Cheers😊

  • @FranksWay
    @FranksWay2 ай бұрын

    50 amp rectifier is ok...i never used a 60 amp tho...check your wiring, somewhere a positive is making earth connection...also check wiring at bottom of ignition..sometimes the steering turning rubs wiring through..good luck bud.

    Hi Frank. Can you wire a rectifier wrong? I’ve had to cut connector and solder wires. Apart from 3 yellows, I have 2 red and 2 black.the new rectifier has 2 red and 2 green! So I’ve just joined the 2 reds and black to green(separately) reason I ask,I’ve lost 2 starter relays since

  • @FranksWay

    The 3 yellow wires can be mixed, no particular order needed..red is positive and green is negative..black on earth

    @@FranksWay Thanks for replying. what I don’t get is having(apart from yellows) 2 reds and 2 blacks coming out of rectifier. So the wires I’m joining them to is 2 reds and 2 green wires. I don’t have 1 black 1 green coming out of rectifier! So can joining the blacks to the greens cause the relay problem?🤔

  • @FranksWay
    @FranksWay2 ай бұрын

    @@FranksWay If I leave the blacks disconnect,the greens will be disconnected as well! I’ve looked at wiring diagram for xrv750P. Looks like the earth is a bit further along the cable! And as you said the 2 reds harness to make one,so the blacks have to join to the greens. The 2 blacks coming out the rectifier should be green colour. I’ve got another starter relay ordered,see if this one breaks shortly after fitting. Could the rectifier be sending too much power and breaking relay?

    If you unscrew the plug completely a small telescopic magnet should pick it up easily. If that plastic part somehow falls in the hole of the plug...not good. P.S. I'd do the plugs along with the air filter and I'd take the whole airbox out along with the throttle bodies to have access to the front plug from the top.

    Thank you for the video!! So much useful and interesting information. I have been riding my 950 ADV since 2019, had 5k miles, now at 26k. I absolutely love this bike. Once its going it really feels weightless and inspires lots of confidence. I try to ride it off road as much as possible (mainly because the knobbies wear so quickly on pavement), on its 20k plus miles with me it has really given me no issues at all! which impresses me since I've often heard how common water pump, fuel pump and clutch issues 950s come with. After passing the 24k mile mark, I wonder if I should sell :/ maybe to get a more modern adventure bike, specially now that I'm literally waiting for the fuel or water pump to go plus other common issues with these bikes... but at the same time I feel like this really is a keeper, something to treasure and keep as long as possible. Any comments or suggestions?
