If that guy on the left is in good shape and can at least do a pull-up, he can lower his arm with the force of at least half his body weight, way too much for the other guy, with an almost outstretched arm, to hold up. This is simple physics. I don't get what's so astonishing here.

This is basically the book teaching the pencil that without the paper the lead is useless. Until the Stylus comes along and says yes but all I have to do is touch your mind to get you to react.

Everyone compares this to UFC it seems. It’s undisputed that kickboxing is the best form of hand to hand combat in an arena. But that’s exactly what birthed the art. An ARENA where the goal is to knock your opponent out - not kill them. There’s other forms that are highly effective but ultimately it’s the person who’s using them that is going to be the most effective. The reason kickboxing is SO effective in the UFC is because a proper kickboxer is using distance and defense along with striking VERY powerful strikes. These forms would get destroyed by a professional kickboxer. For sure. But not everyone is a kickboxer. And kickboxers typically lose to a heavier weighted kickboxer… these forms (purely speculative on my behalf) help people that aren’t in prime physical condition, aren’t in an arena and are looking to injure or discombobulate their opponent with the least amount of force and ESCAPE. Kickboxing kind of forces you to finish the fight. You don’t escape until your opponent is knocked out or gives up and it requires a LOT of physically demanding training. This seems to be pure technique. Like if 2 guys tried to jump me and I needed to defend myself long enough to get back to my car and leave. Or to evade an attack to grab a deadly weapon etc… Again, just my observation. Could be completely wrong.

What these videos lack imho are some 'martial applications'. If someone attacks you more often than not there is little touching and empathy levels are low while stress levels are high. In this regard: Internal martial arts work and are important for a. non telegraphing / mind hitting and b. overcoming one's opponent pure muscle strength / gaining fundamental stability. But they need to be put into a greater contest imho.

I was a cocky 21 year old black belt in Gojyu Ryu. Met an old Tai Chi master who started fire with his hands, broke a jug of water by placing his hands in the water while not touching the ceramic pot, had me punch his throat ( not really hard but it would have a normal person crumpling in pain...) He then said to kick him in the nuts. I couldn’t bring myself to do that but he said that he can suck them up into his body and take some serious blows there. He then started punching himself in the groin to prove it. At 22, this lowly first degree black belt went out and bought a .357 Smith and Wesson... just in case.
