Welcome to my channel! My channel is dedicated to women in their forties and beyond where we can share tips on skincare, haircare and makeup! I have a diploma in makeup artistry so I do know the right side of a makeup brush ;) - and love to share tips and tricks that I have learned over the years.
I want to celebrate getting older. And I also want to do the best that I can for my skin here and now. I love makeup unashamedly. I love its power to transform and bring back confidence in women, especially mature ladies over forty (and beyond). As we mature, we have many things to deal with - our skin's texture and its needs are not the same as they were ten or even 5 years ago. KZread is where I have found community and space to share these kinds of topics.
So please subscribe and come along for the ride!

I love your make up, simple and beautiful😊
Thank you 🤗
Stunning Sue :) Love the eyeshadow xxxx
Thank you xx
Thats about how long I take
Youre very pretty
Thank you. You are very kind x
Sue: HELP!! I'm very fair, pale skin with cool pink undertones. Even with blush, in photos, I look like Casper the Ghost. I can't make contour or bronzer work for me. Any suggestions? Your finished look is lovely. I can't afford MAC, though. 😕
I would skip the contour and use a tiny bit of cream blush. Essence has some new ones out, a pink and a peach. They are highly pigmented but blend out beautifully. You would only need a tiny bit x
Love this bronze look on you. Very flattering on you. The sable eyeshadow really is a stunner and I think it would look fantastic with my hazel eyes. I need to see it in person at my local Mac store. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Milica! If there's one shadow I would recommend for hazel eyes, it would be sable!
Love this quick and easy look, thank you. I do however have one question - I have a very deep mental crease and no matter what I do, my foundation or even tinted moisturizer settles in this crease. I have googled and watched videos and I've tried every trick there is, but nothing works. Do you have any tips and/or advice?
That's a difficult one! I have a slight one forming too. Maybe try some matte concealer. Anything dewy will reflect light and exacerbate it.
❤❤❤
Looks nice when it’s all done. I don’t have many Mac products just the painterly eye primer and naked lunch eyeshadow which I like. I don’t like really dark eyeshadow as my eyes are hooded. I’m interested in the blush but I’m currently using a Stila cream stick one I have dry skin and the powder ones might not suit me
The stial cream sticks are amazing. They're pigmented and soft. Cream blush is very flattering on mature skin. I love naked lunch eyeshadow xx
Beautiful! So warm and glamourous! You are certainly a MAC expert! I want everything you used.
Thank you xx
❤❤
Looking GORGEOUS, Sue. Loving the warm tones on you.b
Thank you so much x
Very interesting video thanks for sharing have a great time greetings ❤️👍
Thank you xx
Hi Sue most of the items I repurchased over the years are sadly discontinued 😢. I still repurchase regularly the Benefit gimme brow in shade one as being pale it’s really difficult to get a good shade match. This isn’t yellow on the skin or dark and is the best match I have found. I do get my brows threaded and I tint them myself, so the fibre coloured gel is usually all I use in my brows (I didn’t pluck them to death in the nineties as my mum did that in the sixties and was a cautionary tale- they didn’t grow back). Rimmel lipliner in east end snob has been in my makeup bag for years and repurchased many times. Laura Gellor balance n brighten in porcelain- I bought it for years, but lately it’s not looking great on my skin and I think it’s just because I am getting older. It was always my touch up powder when any redness broke through, but it now looks dry on my skin. I have bought several over the years however. Some of the items I bought many times but are gone forever are: Lancome teint idole in shade 008 - now reformulated and my shade was discontinued. I bought it many times over the years before that happened. Bobbi Brown alabaster extra repair skin tint - now discontinued Prescriptives foundation- sadly a brand that no longer exists Clarins lipstick in lilac pink - I bought at least three times before they discontinued it. Bare minerals lipstick in Bavarian pink - so sadly discontinued as I bought it over and over. Best wishes x
Hi Loraine. Wow. Lots of discontinued stuff. I find that once favourites are discontinued, I never really seem to find a HG replacement. I'm not sure if that's just me? You certainly have seen your fair share!
@@Fifty-sense I know. It’s probably because shades I love are not going to suit the majority of people. I’m extremely cool toned and pale, so I am in a tiny minority corner of the market. X
Thanks for sharing. As I am a similar colour to you -same shades you use - try get hold of Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk original lipstick and lip liner. Even try 1 shade up in lipliner as the lipstick looks so good with both -it seriously matches everyone and I've purchased multiple ones - it would look stunning on you!
Thank you Linda! Sounds wonderful x
❤😊
Thank yooou xx
I have heavenly luxe brush from It cosmetics that I use a lot but it has recently started to shed hair 😢 It’s about 4 years old. I think it is the washing although I am careful how I wash my brushes.
Hi Mary. Four years is quite a good lifespan. It could be that the glue in the ferrule is starting to wear away.
@@Fifty-sense yes probably I just thought for the price it would have lasted longer 😏
@@maryrose7842 exactly! That's why I say that all these high end brands are exhorbitantly over priced. Any thing over $15, and you're just paying for the name.
I do like your EA lipstick 💄 I go through a lot of high end foundation powder compacts. They’re just easy and fast. My most repurchased makeup product was Oh La Lift by Benefit. It was multi functional. Would keep it in the refrigerator! Could use it to sooth and depuff the eye area, deflect light, highlight and conceal. Still searching for a replacement - it became part of my identity 😔
I remember you mentioning it before. Such a pity you can't find it anymore. It's such a disappointment when that happens.
I’ve been on quite an adventure with Oh La La lift. Someone thought I’d had a little bit of something cosmetically done while I was using it. Someone told me if I transferred cash to their bank account they would send it me. I’m just going to have to go on a search for the next best thing!
@@MsActor2009 have you tried writing to their head office in San Francisco?
Tried that. They said they would pass my message on to product development…
For me, it’s Revlon Colourstay foundation. I have bought it for the past 30 years.
I used to use colorstay all the time. My favourite iteration was the one with Softflex, many moons ago. It couldn't be beat!
The drugstore mascara I've used exclusively for long over 10 years is Maybelline The Colassal Waterproof in Classic Black. It lasts like nothing else, helps hold a curl, and adds length with easy layering. Great stuff!
I think I need to try Maybelline again! I stopped using it some years back as it stung my eyes 😕
I love your channel - everytime I watch one of your new videos I buy something new from Mac LOL - although I already have too much makeup!.. Quarry is one of my all time favorite Mac eyeshadows - but I thought it was discontinued! If we can still get it please let me know where! I repurchase these two things: Hourglass blush in Ethereal Glow (I am fair with cool undertones) and Mac Lip liner in Half Red - which is an amazing shade. I might have to get a new lipstick 🙂 I really like Rum Raisin too!
Thank you Hanna! Im sorry you can't seem to find Quarry . It may be discontinued in some markets. Mac does that sometimes. I also have Half Red and it goes with so many lipsticks!
The Elizabeth Arden lipstick looks fantastic on you.
Thank you! 💞
Right??! Got me busy looking it up. Sue is an enabler of the finest variety. 😉
The Chanel reformulations ... sigh. Their products have been fail safe til recently. It is so disappointing we don't get told they change things. Given how much they charge, I think it a consumer right to know before purchase. Edit to add: Chanel lip liner in Rose Naturel. My go-to colour for most my lipsticks.
Thanks Kate for the heads up about the Chanel liner. And yes, I agree, they should be more transparent about changes in their formulations. Some products I believe, now only have a 6 month shelf life. If I'm spending that kind of money, I want to use the product to the last drop. Which can sometimes take a year, or two or three!
Your videos are a real cheerer-upper! Thanks sooo much for putting everything together in this compact format. I'm super grateful for lipstick recommendations because once I'm under the weird lights in the store I excel at choosing light colours that make me look like a cadaver or too reds that make me look like Cruella de Ville. The confusing part for me is when the same shade comes in different finishes. I always get the too matt version that looks like stage paint. So thanks. I'm going to print out your transcript.
I feel your pain. The lights in store are very deceiving. Makeup counters should have lights that emulate daylight. I agree with your comment about Cruella de Ville😅. It's a fine line...one that shouldn't be walked alone!
I enjoyed this very much; the one product that I keep buying is Painterly from MAC and Maybelline lipstick in Born With It.
Ooh... painterly is fabulous! Now I need to look for Born With It! Thank you for sharing!
I love painterly as well! Will try the 💄!
I definitely couldn't do any faster! Really enjoyed this, as usual!
Thanks Debra. Yip, I couldn't do a proper job in less time!
These colours are great on you!
Well done! I loved this.
Thank you!
You look lovely - thank you
New subbie here….I love L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara!! I try other brands/types but I always seem to go back to the Voluminous one! 💗
L'Oréal mascaras are definitely my favourite! 💕
Hi..liked your video so much..❤❤
Thank you 😊
Great! I really like your positive energy.
Thank you 🤗
Maybelline Lash Sensational is my favorite drugstore mascara.
Thank you. I think I need to try Maybelline again 🤗🌸
I'm excited, I just subbed to your channel!! Question: can I buy your brushes if I live in the US?
Hi Julie. Thank you so much ❤️. I can ship internationally, but unfortunately the cost to ship from SA is very high.
@Fifty-sense Darn it! Thank you though!
Beautiful look. Thank you. ❤
Thank you for using products that I can buy in South Africa. That was wonde
Pleasure Mariana! 🌸 I also have my own brush range, specifically made for Saffers who struggle to find great quality brushes at respectable prices. Link is in the description box. Use sue15 for discount xx
I love taking my time putting on my makeup, but if I have to rush I put some foundation on with my fingers, some concealer, cream blush, a one and done eyeshadow stick, mascara (always!), and tinted brow gel. But, I rarely need to rush, thank goodness.
I also love taking my time. It's the favourite part of my day! But if I'm in a hurry, I pretty much do exactly the same as you! X
I like to apply with my fingers also! Not all the time, but quite often!
I agree. Fingers are great sometimes!
Love it!
Thank you!
Hi there, glad I found you! Lovely look. I look forward to more content from you! Cheers! 🇨🇦
Thank you Mary!
I LOVE IT! A simple, everyday look, that's easy, with drugstore products. Thank you so much! Rosemarie ❤️
Pleasure!🤗
Half way through your video and you still haven't put it on your face :/ Plz show us a comparison? Thanks anyway.
I am jumping for joy at long last products found in South Africa that don't cost an arm and a leg. I am a young 77 and thoroughly enjoyed your presentation.
Marlene!! I'm so glad you found me! Lekker stuff! Xx💓
That was wonderful! At 70 I am struggling to find a 5 minute everyday makeup routine & with a few modifications I’m encouraged to try many of your ideas. I am losing my vision & that adds some challenges, especially with mascara.
Hi Wanda. Mascara can often be a challenge, even with the best vision. I hope that doesn't deter you though. Thank you for your lovely comment. Much appreciated.🙏
Love it, I don't think you need bronzer, you look pretty with the pink blush. Just found your channel and subscribed.
Thank you Lynn! Xx
I spend 10 minutes just on my brows😮. But they're complete works of fiction. I like doing my makeup and I never rush the game. I'll skip breakfast or leave the kitchen a mess, but I wear a full face. Love your video!
You are my kind of lady! Love it! I am the same 😅
What a lovely video! Thank you for sharing!❤❤
My pleasure x
I just subscribed and wanted to say 'hello'. I am a youngish (I've been told) 75-year-old. I love makeup still and find it brightens my day as well as my face. I'll add a heads up for Maybelline Sky High mascara. Since starting to use it a few months ago, I have been able to leave off curling my eyelashes -- it does a beautiful job of that along with being an excellent mascara. I've used L'Oreal Telescopic too, but find the Sky High gives me a bit more length and volume and curl as a bonus.
Thank you for your recommendation. I know that Maybelline makes some of the best mascaras. I stopped using it a while ago as it used to sting my eyes. But I really think I should give it another chance 💓
I am new to your channel and really enjoyed your video. I was wondering if you could review the RMS blushes?
Hi Ana. Thank you for your comment. We don't get the RMS blush here in SA, unfortunately xx
@@Fifty-sense Oh, I was unaware of this. Thank you!
Thank you for the information about brushes. Greatly appreciated. ❤❤
