    Hm, I still think it’s a bit cheaty to claim 8 different patterns. Yes it’s nice not to have to turn the mic, but still it’s just 4 different patterns.

    I just picked up a used 2006 (60th ann.) black/perloid in near mint condition. the Fender B-Bender (Parsons/Green) is pretty damn cool.

    These were designed for bass guitarists to dabble with the classic upright sound. You did fine. Don't let the purists distract you because you're not using proper Simandl hand position or fingering. Clean sound and accurate intonation is all that matters.

    I bought a V7 2nd gen. It was set up poorly and the neck had a trussrod issue. I received a new neck under warranty which was fine. But as much as I read about Sire basses being perfect out of the box. That absolutely was not my experience.

    The Blue Encore 100 needs a lot more gain than the Shure Beta 58a. Less bass and more articulate. It's handling noise is a lot more predominant also, I'd say twice as noisy as the Beta. It does look great!

    So good to hear someone talk about stage levels being too loud…..don’t be too loud on stage…..I loved,” you should be able to talk while playing and hear yourselves”…. And you don’t need a 50 watt tube amp cranked to the max….for almost all normal clubs ….get a smaller amp and crank that…like a 12watt amp

    I am a gigging bass player. I'm a true blue MarkBass guy and I still love my old Polytone amps, but the Phil Jones is a great amp. I've used this amp for years with a laptop battery or the supplied AC plug. It is great for upright and electric bass. It's great for solo practicing and recording. It's great for band rehearsals. You can use it on gigs but you'll probably need to feed it into the PA.

    I just accidentally ran across your Hoffman Guitar video. Thanks for sharing your story. It just so happens that I am the the original owner of the identical Dreadnought #133 built one month before yours (Feb 1977). I bought mine in Minneapolis in March of 1977 for my birthday. I love my Hoffman!

    I worked on an assembly line at the Ford Plant in St. Paul MN for an entire summer so I could save up and buy one of Charlie's guitars in 1979. I own #178... Rosewood back and sides, Adirondack Spruce top, Abalone inlay, and Rosewood fingerboard. I have a pretty large collection of Martins, Taylors, Collins, Guilds, and Gibsons...NONE of them come close to that Hoffman. Your Mahogany Hoffman sounds amazing, so bright and clear. You are lucky to own it.

    I opted for the M5 variant in transparent blue and it checks all the boxes. Picked it up off of Thomann USA for $677 with shipping. Goes for $800+ in the states. Great review! Love the finish on the M7s.

    I have the same guitar and it has also become my #1. I didn't mind the 'fat' neck (I play a lot of acoustic), but it took me ages to learn to dial in the set up on that compound radius neck. (How do you do your set up?) My tech had suggested running light top/heavy bottom and I did for a time. It still gave me problems. One day, I put normal 010-.052s on it and after very little bridge adjustment, it plays amazingly. And it sure is purty.

    I bought a M7 from Thomman and am very disappointed. Fret ends are sharp and no effort was made to round them at all. I ordered a 6 string harley benton at the same time and it has better fret finishing. I will need to do a complete set up and fret dress, round and polish

  • @ViTAR30
    @ViTAR304 ай бұрын

    Fret dress required on mine too, it could happen depending how much time went from production to sale and how it was stored for a long time. I believe if it's fresh, it could be ok out of the box, if it took time, wood is a living thing that can shrink a tiny bit and frets can get out a tiny bit for edges to become sharp.

    I found your comments on the neck really interesting. I have the Strat 2014 version in sonic blue too and the neck is the best neck I have EVER played - I love it. so really interesting how you found it.... my Strat has fat 50's and they are like custom shop pickups on an Am Std - these were and are great guitars for the money

    Man, I got to hand it to you. I’ve been watching lots of videos on fretless basses and 90% of players play up or down to the note but you are nailing playing in tune. I’m a guitar player who just became in love with the bass and am starting from square one, I love the thought of a fretless but I may need to really get better technique from my fretted bass first. Could you share any advice please? Thanks!

    I play guitar and bass and yes both are a different way of thinking and not being rude, but do you know, able to hear, and reach pitch ? If given a song in the style you do best, but not told the key, could you bend one note to pitch and then know where on the neck in the song your are? If playing slide guitar can you play without looking in pitch? Also, do you know what the term a slur note is?

    The first time I played fretless was in a music shop. Of course it went pretty badly, but when I put it back in the rack, the guy from the shop said 'Maybe you did not sound ok, but I could hear that you tried to compensate bad notes. I would not stop you from buying one.'

    Love the TF P-bass! The way I look at the electronic set up is that the front position switch gives you the traditional P-bass. Then, the back two positions give you options. With the mix controls (like on a jazz bass) it takes more time to dial things. Great review!
