Hi Natalie! Do you have any specific plans for Hawaii that you will share with the public or are open to sharing with those who will be there as well? I’m just curious as I will be there around the same time! Also for Kent, the Pokémon world championships are in Honolulu during the weekend of 8/16-8/18!
I didn't see events in the description box going beyond August. I'm hoping you'll mention the Pacific Northwest Yarny Social in Boise Idaho October 3rd through the fifth. 😁
Speaking of heels on socks, have you had an opportunity to wear either of you Vanilla is the New Black socks to see if you like the heel in those?
I love this place. I stopped in while walking around town one evening. They were so welcoming to newbie knitters, answered so many questions - and of course the tea was wonderful!
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Are you planning on heading back to WI at all? I cannot believe you didn’t go to Sow’s Ear in Verona, near Madison! Sow’s Ear is a lovely yarn shop cafe. The Madison area also has Madtown Shop Hop Oct 13-15th and is so fun. I live in the Twin Cities, but am a big fan of Madison ❤
I was disappointed too that she couldn't come to Sow's Ear. It's a real treasure here in Wisconsin and it's my LYS. Maybe some other time!
Hi Natalie, Where are you visiting in Hawaii. How many days will you be there? I am assuming Honolulu. I live on the Big Island. We no longer have designated yarn shops. We are beginning our 4th year here. We live in the northern part of the island in a town called Waimea/Kamuela. It is halfway between the west side (Kona) and east side (Hilo). There is a wool mill setting up operation north of us. It is pretty exciting. I believe the name is Ohana Wool Mill. It would be sooo cool if you visited it! We have two knitting groups at Tutu's House in town. They are very small sadly, but I appreciate having them. I know that there are other knitters . . . The group in Honolulu is a nice size. I know their name but it is not coming to me at the moment. Aloha Knitters! Are you meeting with them?
With little Evelyn I never know what day it is till Thursday when you post haha
So glad you enjoyed Milwaukee and it was so great to meet you! It’s a very yarnie state and has so many wonderful yarn stores! Cant wait to see what other stores you show off after Cream City Yarn! And the dyers of Stitch Stuff yarn are based out of Milwaukee! It’s a mom and daughter duo
Oh, I'll definitely be visiting on a Friday someday! I would bring yummy broccoli/cheese chowder, because green and cheese! Definitely a fall trip dream for a mental break from this dreadful Texas July heat! Such an amazing destination; thanks for showing us all these fabulous places.
Had no idea this was so close to me, I must visit! Thanks Knitty Natty!
When you get to VA these are amazing yarn stores! : -center of the yarniverse (Ashland, VA) -Knitting B (henrico, VA) -dances with wool (chesterfield, VA)
DWW is my LYS! I'll add Fibre Space if she stops in Alexandria or The Yarn Club if she gets down to VA Beach.
Only couple hours away and will check this out when fires are out .
Si I finally looked up what LYS stood for, Local Yarn Store! Oh, that makes sense now. I think Boss Kitty was asking me about my LYS and I was lost. Lol
LOVING the interviews and visits to LYS❤️
Thank you for passing on that excellent tip about using lightbulb markers as stitch protectors. I’m using it already.
Aww yay!! Glad it was helpful!
The toe of your socks are anatomical, following the anatomy of your toes. Ergonomic would be like the split keyboard I use to prevent wrist strain and carpal tunnel. I used to knit anatomical sock toes for my sister. She was a great believer in left and right socks, just like shoes.
Oooh yes that makes more sense!
Loved your video and I look forward to viewing many more. Since I’m from the Tucson area, I would bring a pot full of SW Tamales, corn and quezo. Also love Maggie’s books and all sorts of fiber arts. Linda K. Green Valley, AZ
9:26 that is interesting. I really have not done short row heels, but I don’t think of thegusset decreases as extra rounds because once you start knitting the instep stitches again, inmy mind, I am knitting the foot and going towards the toe and I actually start counting how many rounds of foot from the place where I pick up and start knitting again at the instep. So I guess I trick my mind into not thinking that it’s 20 extra rounds.😅 17:45 well the lightbulb stitch marker, protect your stitches if they accidentally scoot to the end of that stitch holder needle? I keep thinking, putting it down in a bag or something, and pulling it out if the stitches scoot to the end of the stitch holder needle will the lightbulb stitch marker, protect them from coming all the way off?
Aww, I love the photo of you and Addy together 💕
Beth told me about the lantern idea. Brilliant!
Hi try the shadow wrap heel it is my favorite but very similar the flk heel. It fits similar but better and quick
This was such a great video! I really enjoyed watching it. Her story is amazing and I can’t wait to buy some of her yarn to make a sweater!
M
Tv show Lavern and Shirley filmed in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
❤😊
Love those colorful socks
Hi Natalie That shoulder technique is in several of Norah Gaughan’s patterns. It may be an Elizabeth Zimmerman technique.
Definitely EZ's in Knitting Without Tears! I do like to put a marker there so I can match the two shoulder pieces correctly.
Oh cool!! Thank you!
Hi Natalie! You have quite the schedule ahead of you. Don't worry if there are videos that you find are a bit less packed than others - we appreciate them all the same!
Hi Natalie, your socks look great! When you were talking about knitting more rows for the foot on heel flap and gusset sock, I realized that I don’t start counting my rows on the foot until I finish gusset decreases.
This is how I knit my socks too! I’m always worried I’ll pick up my stitches differently from sock to sock if I count straight down from the leg - counting from after the gusset never changes
I just know this yarn is out of my price range… taking my mom here ASAP😅
Haha it's a lovely store!!
I love that store! But my bank account has banned me from visiting it 😄 I had no idea they had so much yard from local spinners. I need go get back in there and do some shopping - shhh, don't tell my bank account!
hehehe
It’s so great that you share “behind the scenes” videos ! What a busy couple you are and Toaster is just so adorable x
Aww thanks! We're pretty partial to Toaster 🥰
my favorite yarn store!!😍
It's amazing!!
Holy cow! What a day! I love hearing about real life in the van. Truly, I'm exhausted just watching. Thanks for inviting us in :0)
I would love to go to Lambspun! I love the book series. I would bring chocolate cobbler to the pot luck ❤
Yum!
I would bring my stuffed mushrooms 🍄
Awesome job! I loved watching and learning about knit stars.
Do you have internet in your van. I use my car internet on the road because my phone hotspot isn't always good. My car is Verizon and phone is T-mobile.
Not through the van itself, but we have a T-Mobile home internet (a router just like you'd have at home!) and a Verizon hotspot. Usually we're fine with emails and watching videos, just uploading requires a higher caliber of internet 😮💨
@@KnittyNatty Safe travels.
I live in England but would love to visit. I would have what us English say have a field day and spend a lot of money on yarn
What advents are you getting? Fun videos ! Keep them coming
Aww thanks! I'm getting two mini skein advents (Hot Springs Fiber Co & Polka Dot Creek) and a self-striping one (Freckled Whimsey) this year. Staying reasonable! I'm also getting a Beetlejuice one for October from the Little Wolf Knits that I'm so excited about!
Hi Natalie, Kent and Toaster! Fun travels!!
Hello! Thank you!
I love how knowledgeable she is! What a wonderful yarn store !
Wow that's a super long day! Amazing job!!
Yes it was! 😮💨 Thanks! Enjoying some slower days with National Parks now!
I hope you can hook up with wabash woolen works in wabash indiana. It is an amazing cottage mill and the place is so cool
Oh that sounds really cool! We started our trip last August in Indiana, so we aren't planning to go back anytime soon, but hopefully one day!
Love little peeks into your daily travels. Looking forward to the new shop video when it comes out. You both do a great job of mixing up your vlogs to hit everything and keep things interesting. Always sending positive vibes and good energy for your travels. Give Toaster some extra ear scratches from this Ohio girl.
Aww thank you so much! Giving Toaster a stritch right now!
There is a very cool park you should stop at in Minnesota, Pipestone National Monument. It’s a sacred place for Native Americans.
That sounds amazing! Since we breezed through Minnesota this time, we're planning to come back next summer and do all the sites!
After traveling in your ‘home’ , would buy the same one or get a different brand of vehicle?
Ooh love this question! We're still really happy with this one as far as size and layout. I think if we had unlimited funds, we'd probably design something ourselves (but have someone else build it). Now that we've lived in the van for a year we have a really good sense of what we need (more storage) and what we don't (a large bathroom)!
I really enjoyed this video! I learned so much that I didn't know about Jimmy Beans Wool. I want to plan a trip to Reno now just to visit the store. Thank you Natalie & Kent for bringing these great shop tours. I've added a few more "LYS" to the yarn shopping file on my phone. I want to visit them someday, like you did, in person. When I dream, I dream big. Lol! I'll really miss you guys "road trippin'"...and touring shops... sharing your adventures in the national parks...and just everything! As much as I am dreading the completion of this adventure, I can't wait to see what you two do next. Oh! The bittersweet of it all! ✌️💗🧶🧦🏞️🐕
What a great episode! Can’t wait to try this yarn! Thank you❤
