Yeah, that article about Nicola is disgusting🙁. Nicola is not even fat. Yes, she is a tiny bit on the bigger side but not fat. I would say she is more mid/ medium size than plus size. And also a thing about that article is that turns out the woman who wrote it, is a zionist, which explains why she was dragging down Nicola on her looks since Nicola is a big supporter of palestine.

The actress playing Penelope is 37 years old. In the book, she is a spinster,28,by the time their marraige comes, and even in the show she is atleast 20, as it is a third yeah out

I'm loving your reactions to this season! I don't know the source of your doubts about Colin, but I really recommend a character analysis of him that Sammy Bates did on her channel. She really covers all the major aspects of his personality and history, with plenty of receipts. It's so good, and really eye-opening on several things. He really is a genuinely good guy who loves and admires Penelope deeply. But a lot of people miss the more nuanced aspects of his characterization, and it's resulted in some people really misunderstanding him and his motivations. You've probably already filmed your reactions to the last two episodes, but it would really help you understand what's going on in his head after the Whistledown reveal. Also, just so you know, 5,000 pounds at the time was roughly equivalent to half a million dollars, so it was not an insignificant amount, even to these rich people

Ok! I already have my video recorded for the last two episodes, I just haven't looked over all of it yet so idk how much of this I covered. But I wasn't sure what my hesitations with Colin were until I talked to my friends actually. His feelings and intentions with Pen felt very rushed to me. He went from not liking her, to liking her, to proposing to her all in 3 episodes??? We also talked about how he barely touched Marina in season one when they were just getting to know each other to protect her honor. But he was all over Pen even though they've known each other longer. So I guess in the back of my mind I was wondering how much of this is love compared to lust... And I know Colin's a good guy at the end of the day. It might just be because he's one of the characters I know the least (probably because of him traveling), even with it being his season

@@justjordan497 Those are all totally valid points! For whatever it's worth, here's my take on them: 1) What's the reason romantic relationships usually require a lot of time? Because they generally start with physical attraction, and then you need to get to know each other, to make sure you're truly compatible and want the same things. And that's what takes time to do properly. But Pen and Colin haven't only known each other most of their lives, but they've been close friends that whole time. Even when he was away on his travels, they wrote to each other. They already know each other better than a lot of people know their spouses on their wedding day. They did all the same steps, they just did them backwards. They got to know each other first and then added the physical attraction (on Colin's side). So he didn't really go from not liking her to liking her- it was more like he liked (or actually loved) her in basically every way except the physical attraction, so as soon as he woke up to that, he was 100% there. That was the last box to check. And we've seen from the previous two seasons that once Colin decides what he wants, he wastes NO time! Also, at this time, people didn't court for a long time before getting married. For most people, they would meet for the first time, court for a few weeks at most, get engaged, and then get married three weeks after that (which is how long they were required to wait, for the banns to be read). Colin and Pen already knew each other 1000x better than any other engaged couple in the ton. 2) As far as the physical intimacy, you make a good point. I don't think there's a great explanation for that, but I think it mostly has to do with the difference in Colin's age and experience level, and the very different level of intensity between his feelings for Marina (puppy love/infatuation) and Penelope. If the physical intimacy were *all* we saw, then I might agree that it could just be lust. But there is so much evidence of his love and admiration (even in those intimate scenes, he's completely focused on her experience and enjoyment rather than his own), that I don't really have any trouble believing it's genuine love

13:23 I'm at this timestamp and I'm just LOVING how long the scene is, I LOVE how romantic it is. OF COURSE Nicola is a power-rocket of sultry (f*c* fatphobia). I'm such a Polin fan. I'm lucky enough to not have been spoiled on anything when part 2 came out so am sad for every second of scenes people were accidentally exposed to.

Eloise was such a bad friend to Cressida. The whole show Cressida has been asking Eloise to help her and as usual, all she did was talk about herself. The same thing she always did to Pen.

Lemonade was considered a suitable drink for the young ladies on the marriage mart. They did not want them to get tipsy and be led astray by all the older men. It was usually acceptable for the unmarried men to sow their wild oats. Basically, they drank, smoke, gambled, visited brothels and raced horses. Some continued to do so after they were married, while the wives stayed home and had babies.

The marriage mart was where the eligible young ladies were basically put on display in an attempt to catch a husband. This was usually done when the lady was 18. In this case, Penelope was 17 in her first season which makes her 20 now. The actress who plays her is actually 37. Usually the ladies were in search of a suitable match but usually the higher the man's rank the better. Of course, the brides usually had a dowry, a sum of money promised to whoever marries her from the bride's father. The agreement was usually a written contract between the father and the potential husband. Sometimes the woman was not consulted at all. That is why the separate bedrooms for couples. Sometimes they hardly knew each other and there was a door in between so they could visit when trying to have a baby. Sometimes there were only public appearances merely for the sake of appearances. If a family had a high rank but were broke, they might offer a daughter with little or no dowry and hope that their rank was sufficient to entice someone with money. Usually the wife's duty was fulfilled once there was a male child to inherit the title. However, they often had more children due to the high child mortality rate. Nowadays, the phrase "an heir and a spare" are used, which is why Prince Harry named his book "Spare." William was born to be a future king, while Harry seems to feel he was born in case something happened to William. As far as the UK is concerned, the Princesses only inherited if there were no boys. However, that changed recently when the Parliament voted to keep girls in the line of succession. Princess Charlotte will be the first girl this applys to. In the past, the boys would have been first regardless of their birth order - George, Louie and then Charlotte. But with the new law they will succeed in their birth order. Once George has children, they will come before Charlotte and Louie. Back to some of your questions...Widows could take lovers if they were discrete. Wives, after producing the necessary heirs might stray as well, but again discretion was of utmost importance. Disgrace and scandal on the family name were not tolerated. The higher your rank, the more you could get away with. And men, could basically do anything. Mistresses were kept by providing a home, servants and payment of clothing, food, and other bills. Please do not call yourself stupid. It is not stupid to not know something. It is only stupid when you refuse to learn. I only know half this crap because I have been reading romance novels since I was 12 and I am now 57.
