  Raise your children with classical music, and they will not depart from it! My son has been listening to classical music from before he was born. I would put headphones on my tummy starting at around 7 months, playing Mozart and Bach. When he was born, he started huming music. He has been hooked on Bach ever since! Funny story, but true! He's an accomplished trumpet player now! So blessed!!

  Wegen "Halsstarrigkeit" kam Johann Sebastian Bach im Herbst 1717 ins Gefängnis. Er hatte sich schlicht geweigert seinem Auftraggeber treu zu dienen.

  The male countertenor falsetto is just that-false. “Nails on a chalkboard”. Find a female alto please.

  BTW, the "Kreis der Erden" in the text is poetical for the German word Erdkreis which comes from the latin "orbis terrarum". So the translation would not be literally "circle of the earth" as in some comments below but better "lands of the world" or "the whole world".

  Las imprecisiones de la trompa barroca son comprensibles, es sumamente difícil hoy día y casi intocable para los instrumentistas de que disponía Bach habitualmente. Las imprecisiones del corno inglés...bueno...supongo que es un instrumento de época lo que toca aquí la intérprete y por eso suena impreciso por momentos... bonita cantata

  Eine faszinierend schöne Wahnsinns Bachkantate voller musikalischer Kontraste: erst der rasante Eingangschor über die kämpfenden Engel, in der Mitte die zauberhafte Tenorarie, schützende Engel besingend, und dann der krönende Abschlusschoral, einfach nur himmlisch schön.

Diese so wahren und anschaulichen Worte sind eine ideale, zeitgemäße Einstimmung auf die Kantate BWV 87, die ich demnächst in einer Mette beim Bachfest Leipzig mit meinem Chor, dem Wasserburger Bach-Chor und dem Mendelssohn Kammerorchester Leipzig aufführen werde, zusammen mit zwei Choralkantaten von Mendelssohn.
