I've been working on a game for 7 years. It's gonna be done fairly soon. Then I'm gonna upload it to an obscure website and start making another game. I have a full time job so I'm truly just enjoying working on games because it's a satisfying creative outlet. I don't really expect anyone to play it, but I'm clear minded about why I'm making it in the first place, so that's fine. There's just something I really enjoy about being able to dump some ideas I have in my head into a game project whenever I feel like it.
❤
I think its important to show a game your making to the public because it holds you accountable and almost forces you to make that game because youll be letting people down if you dont. Im sure this could be a good thing or bad thing depending on the person
Ive just loaded UT2004 back on my PC lol Ive been playing all day.... and yes Facing Worlds and BridgeOfFate are still my favourites what a great game.
Any game is an artwork. Just as in any discipline, create art for exploring, learning, and amusement for your self first.
For track making, I would look at trackmania. I am sure it might be way to ambitious but it is extremely flexible and intuitive way for a lay person to make a track for the game.
The problm with he recent gmes is not just they lose contact with the core of th franchise..but first is the same problem of a lot of AAA games nowaday they being rushed and undermonatizd and lauched bugged and broken, and when they flop becaus eof it the copany say is because the maret don't like the gnere anymore
Only making prototypes, messing with technology and art, you often don't get far enough to the point of realizing a cohesive game, with gameplay mechanics, a game loop and progression that is entertaining for more than a few minutes.
Hi! First time here! That's right legacy of HoMM 3 is not forgotten. But I am fan of HoMM5. 😊 Just about a month ago I discovered their modding community, and in particular HoMM5.5: they developed this mod for more than 9 years! Truly 5.5 - modern visual looks, better AI, RMG, no more imba skills and perks. Was balanced for PvP. And more importantly! Tower version in HoMM5 - Academy - love aesthetics!
I am 2 years late for this video, but I have to write this... I played UT'99 since almost it's release, and Facing Worlds was... And still is... The BEST map... It had some sorts of alien, yet familiar, down to Earth, vibe to it. Reminded me of the floating in atmosphere city in Original, single plauer Unreal... And the soundtrack on this map... The track was callled "Forgone Destruction", and made perfect eerie, void-like atmosphere.. And in recent years I played the remake version of UT with my family, avaliable on Epic Store... It was in a Beta state, not finished, but Facing Worlds was a completed map. And just the same as the original, just with updated graphics, grass on the rocky terrain, but the layout was the same, the music was the same, and the feeling was the same. I am really sad they discontinued that game and it is unavaliable for download now. But for me that map represents all that is Unreal Tournament '99 - a fun bloody rampage to enjoy. And it is true, when someone mentions UT, my first thought and first words that come from my mouth are "Facing Words". Great video, I will subscribe to you for more great content. Cheers!
Sergio Pizzorno? 😲
Adventure-Strategy or Roleplay-Strategy feels good to me :)
Nope, haven't moved on. I still play facing worlds.
now do one on synths
Ambitious, my boy, very ambitious <3
The best fos game ive ever played
That was a nice listen
your games look so cool
Love the video! Thank you for being vulnerable and putting this out there. I have to ask: I love the tune that plays at the beginning. What’s it from?
I used to play this instagib.
you lack a clear goal
whiplashed by his voice
@NoClipCrew Time for a follow up at the end of the year?
"you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention"this is Genius, now I NEED to play this game, the manual, the details explained, im sorry i got spoiled since ive always been curious about this game...
Inspiring, thoughtful and impressive range for two years of work.
Thank you! :)
I rather play barbie riding club for windows 98.
Bro, is that legend of legaia music?!
Great video and he's an excellent orator. I did find it funny when he said 'we started with a stamina system like the souls games' before, in an attempt to explain how the combat is different, describes basically exactly the same stamina system that the souls games have.
Still have not 100% finished as my switch broke, but I believe I was pretty close to the end. Amazing game! Played it as people were saying it's a bit similar to Outer Wilds in terms of mechanics & story discovery and I'd say that's correct.
Impressive! Great music, great video, great games❤️
>> stretched aspect ratio what a clown
Another great video, ty
botster documentary???
you are awesome, please keep it up
> Heroes 3 being a HIDDEN gem Yup, that's an American console peasant speaking right there.
honestly, this series has been a good part of what pushed me to dive into gamedev in the first place. Thank you for being so inspiring 🫶
Really enjoying this game. It's a treat.
Great video, I really like the style of your 3d models! Also loved the inclusion of the Besaid and Norune Village themes!
you want to be a gamedev youtuber more than you want to be a business owner who sells computer games.
Making games is such a cathartic and invigorating experience. That feeling when you've been tunneling in on a singular mechanic and seeing it work the way you want after hours of work is just bliss.
'writing netcode' and 'fun and rewarding' are two phrases I never expected to be joined
Thanks for sharing, this is really enlightening 🙌
For all those who enjoyed Tunic I want to ask the question to the dev: Did he know/play "The Lore of Canis" before developing Tunic? It has some similarities, though it was less sophisticated graphical but it had a lot of interactions and possibilities as well as a great world with lot of mysteries inside it. Hope you make more vids like this!
This game perfectly captures the feeling of wonder and discovery I had when I was a child playing SNES games that I couldn't read anything, since I didn't know english. Finally understanding some new mechanic was like a puzzle within a puzzle, exactly how I felt as a child. This game is a must-play for anyone, even more if you were a non-english speaker child playing a game in english.
I wonder what the musician to game design pipeline looks like? I, too, went from music producer for self to lemme just make some games i can at least make music too
I had a very similar journey to you with music and eventually finding the answer to my creative woes in game dev. Now I love working on music again and I'm releasing my first game on Steam this summer. I'm looking forward too seeing what you come up with, and best of luck on your future projects!
God, so melodramatic 😴😴😴😴😴😴 Get over yourself brother.
The way Jeremy speaks about game dev is how I feel about playing games (playing far more than 99.9% of even avid gamers) , a far less productive outlet honestly. Started with my obsession to learn as much about the videogame industry as Jeff Gerstmann knows back when I discovered the pre GB crew when they worked at Gamespot.
It's the most artist thing ever when you hit that point of going from making something strictly for you to trying to make something for others and second guessing every decision you make from then on. I'm a 3D animator and I enjoyed it far more when I never released anything I made and just did it for the experience of learning 3D modeling and animating. Now I want to try and make it my primary source of income and that changed everything. Now I'm constantly worry about validation from others and if what I'm making is even any good or something people will ever care about.
