When your dryer is on low, does that mean it’s cool or warm? My dryer’s low is still hot. Won’t that dry the inks right away? I think I need a dryer with a “cool” setting, no? I love how your tiles came out. Thanks for this demo!!!

Thank you for this video; beautiful tiles! Are you saying to use the modge podge as well as the glaze or in place of it? Also- will these 3 finishes render the tiles waterproof? I thought of using Rustoleum; have you tried that?

I'm so glad I found your channel. I just purchased a little hobbyist compressor, like the first one you started with so that I can learn with it. It will also help me decide if I want to go further and eventually move to a bigger system. Although in a small apartment I might be better off sticking with the smaller quieter one. I was tossing up whether or not to get an airbrush stand and second inline moisture filter for it, and think I will, based on what you've said. Thankyou for your helpful overview

Why am I having a hard time getting veins with the gold alcohol ink.

Hi Debbie, I get the gold veins by "floating" the gold in another ink or on the 91% alcohol. I usually put the ink down and put a drop of the gold in top of it and while the gold is floating in top of the ink, I move it with gravity or with air. It separates and veins while it dries. Hi!! Hmmm... I'm not sure what particles you are talking about. My guess is that you are asking about dust particles and if so, they won't go away. I wish I could see what your are talking about because I don't usually have that issue.

i Have used all 3 of sealers you have been talking about. I want to put my tile outside along a brick wall but after a while the ink starts coming off. Can Alcohol ink not be displayed out side? some colors last longer but even with 3 or 4 coats of sealer & letting the dry for about an hour between sprays it still doesn't protect the tiles. I haven't tried the modge pod yet. Maybe the ink isn't meant to be outdoors?

I personally have not tried alcohol inks in an outdoor setting. I live in Maine and our winter conditions would be extremely harsh on any outdoor tile. I would probably have to agree that because of the lightfastness of alcohol inks, the best bet is for them to be displayed and used in indoor environments. The one solution that possible may work is to apply a coat of resin to them. It would be worth a try if you really have your heart set on having them outdoors!

If you have treated them with 3 coats Kamar, 3 coats UV sealant and a coat or two of crystal clear they will not, but I would hand wash them with a gentle soap and water.

These are really pretty! A few comments ... I bet you can find little planters at a dollar store-type store. When you're putting on the blending solution, there is resin in it, so blowing on it is not safe. The resin particles will stick to your lungs. Tim Holtz has warned about that. How about applying it with a brush, or a sponge applicator, or even spreading it with a gloved finger instead? Just thinking of your health :) Probably the same for spreading the inks. They are toxic. Every time you blow out, you then inhale the bad stuff. You could apply the ink with a paintbrush, or used canned air or one of those puffer cleaners used to clean camera lenses. Just some thoughts so you are more safe when you make these. I really enjoyed the video and your technique! TFS!

My air compressor isn't what you would typically expect. My husband rigged up a larger tank and ran hose from it so I have a longer supply of air without the compressor turning on. I then simply bought a valve, extra hosing and just the air brush. My first compressor was one I got on Amazon for about $50. I will link that one for you as it is a great place to start.

Can you use a hair dryer on yupo paper?

Yes you can but I usually use the heavy Yupo just to make sure it doesn't buckle. Yupo is plastic and it will melt or warp with higher heat. I've been able to use regular yupo with a hair dryer without buckling and Ive also had it buckle if I hold it too close or too long. To be safe, I go to the heavier weight Yupo when I use any type of heat.

I'm glad it helped! I've done a lot of experimenting with different brands and sizes of brushes to get the desired look. I always start smaller than I think I need and then go larger. It's easier to add paint/ ink than take it away.

Just a tidbit.. If you want a beautiful finish that is heat resistant up to 475 degrees use Stone Coat Countertops epoxy or Stone Coat Art Coat Resin. Both are heat resistant up to 475 degrees, both are UV protected... the Stone Coat Art Coat has a higher UV protectant than the countertop one, but the countertop one will cure to a harder cure. Both are great for sealing tiles and will not yellow as fast as other resins like envirotex or art resin.

I didn't use resin on these, but I have before. I absolutely love how resin looks on coasters, but the process is time-consuming so I do a lot of painting and then will spend an entire day resining. I use art resin but I am anxious to try Stone Coat Countertops as I've heard great things about the product.

My air compressor isn't what you would typically expect. My husband rigged up a larger tank and ran hose from it so I have a longer supply of air without the compressor turning on. I then simply bought a valve, extra hosing and just the air brush. My first compressor was one I got on Amazon for about $50. I will link that one for you as it is a great place to start.

Can you use a hair dryer on yupo paper?
Yes you can but I usually use the heavy Yupo just to make sure it doesn't buckle. Yupo is plastic and it will melt or warp with higher heat. I've been able to use regular yupo with a hair dryer without buckling and Ive also had it buckle if I hold it too close or too long. To be safe, I go to the heavier weight Yupo when I use any type of heat.
Love that you mentioned size brushes to use for particular strokes. Helps us beginners greatly!
I'm glad it helped! I've done a lot of experimenting with different brands and sizes of brushes to get the desired look. I always start smaller than I think I need and then go larger. It's easier to add paint/ ink than take it away.
Just a tidbit.. If you want a beautiful finish that is heat resistant up to 475 degrees use Stone Coat Countertops epoxy or Stone Coat Art Coat Resin. Both are heat resistant up to 475 degrees, both are UV protected... the Stone Coat Art Coat has a higher UV protectant than the countertop one, but the countertop one will cure to a harder cure. Both are great for sealing tiles and will not yellow as fast as other resins like envirotex or art resin.
I didn't use resin on these, but I have before. I absolutely love how resin looks on coasters, but the process is time-consuming so I do a lot of painting and then will spend an entire day resining. I use art resin but I am anxious to try Stone Coat Countertops as I've heard great things about the product.
