  I’m Capeverdean and it’s no reason to change the country name. Who are you to think we should change the name of our country? You probably know little or nothing about the history of the country and why it was given this name? After all, the country was discovered and populated by the Portuguese and they gave the country its name and there is no reason to change the name. We are a mixed race (Europe & Africa) and satisfied with the name.

  As an African whose ancestors were the victim of colonizers, I find this thumbnail and caption very repulsive. European colonizers are not and will never be African. That is a fact. Africans can’t be European even if they are born in Austria. Same applies here. Biologically, culturally, mentally, linguistically these people are European.

  I think the controversy is in Mayotte Island which is claimed also by Comoros islands but it voted to be french and one of the main causes is the woman's vote because according to islamic shariaa they get hakf of what the brother's inheritance and forced to share the inheritance with paternal uncles and other male relatives while with French secular laws they get equal share with male siblings and uncles and cousins get nothing in the small island where properties and real estates are expensive and rare.
