    So instead of fixing the cowl issue, they put bandaids on everything else 😂

    No changes were made on the cowl until the 2023 year model so 2014-2022 all have the same issue.

    sealed the cowl and water tested,, seems fixed but still have a leak from wiper seals, have you ever changed them out?

    I haven't done anything to prevent water intrusion in my 2022 van. There aren't many draw backs like there were in the older models.

    did you have spots on cowl where it meets glass that came up from prob expansion ?

    I find the Achilles heel with Thunderbolt locks is a thief can just break a window and unlock that way rather than trying to pry open a door.

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures7595 ай бұрын

    Could you clarify what you mean by "unlock that way"?

  • @mikeymyke
    @mikeymyke5 ай бұрын

    @@blueskyadventures759 Thunderbolt locks look like they're primarily used to prevent someone prying open your doors by force, which they seem really good at doing. But what if a thief just broke into your driver side window, and hit the unlock button on the door, wouldn't that then unlock the factor car locks as well as the Thunderbolt locks?

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures7595 ай бұрын

    The factory lock/unlock buttons are disabled when the van is locked with the FOB. The only time they are active is when the vehicle is running or after it's been shut off and a door hasn't been opened.

    A 4awg will do the job

    2/0 wire is certainly oversized. I wanted to minimize voltage drop and allow for 120 amps to be pulled. I agree 4 awg would certainly do the job. Thanks for the comment!

    Gorilla tape across the cowl and straight up and down for the middle seam.

    I just got thunderbolts put in yesterday. He made it so they can’t break my window and unlock my back doors to my van when the van is turned off, you can lock the doors from the inside of the truck, but cannot unlock it when the vehicle is turned on, you can unlock and unlock the doors from the inside. my key fob controls it completely and lock and unlock it whenever I please

    THE LOCK RELEASE Could not be in arm reach if window is broken mount low as possible. YOU stated using lock inhibitor now there no power to passenger oem lock if wire right, and the thunder lock could be power all the time.

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures7596 ай бұрын

    I'm having difficulty understanding your comment but I will respond to the best of my ability. It is nearly two feet from the window to the lock release. The lock inhibitor does not stop power to the OEM locks, it only stops the Thunderbolt locks from locking when the ignition of the van is on. The Thunderbolt lock is powered all the time but is only inhibited on the front doors when the van ignition is on and the inhibitor is not bipassed.

    Your connection is not fused. The cable should be hooked up on the opposite side

  • @blueskyadventures759

    The video angle may make it difficult to see the fuse and how the connect is made. The connection is certainly fused, watch this video for a better look at the properly fused connection. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rGWFlJOlace2o7A.htmlsi=3w1NoHzh8KLBRWAo

    THIS WHY YOU DO NOT USE THE VANS KEY FOB AND Uses there our key fob. and must disable the door lock power when no none in the van so if windows are broken the door window and unlock will no work until the key is turned on .

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures7597 ай бұрын

    In the Promaster the interior unlock buttons do not work once the van is locked with the FOB along with the windows no longer being powered.

    My Service Engine light comes on every time I drive in rain. 2022 with only 2500 miles. Guess I better take it to a dealer to look at but if I do it on a dry day, they will say no problems.

    I would recommend investing in a code reader, not just for your current issue but for monitoring engine and transmission temperatures regularly. Next time you have the check engine light come on you'll be able to get an idea of what is causing the issue, more than likely what wire harness the water is getting into.

    Have a 22 less than a year old and I have the exact same issue with water getting into the engine bay. Mine appears to be from a large section of the cowl seam coming away from the windshield. Is this type of thing covered by the standard warranty as I only have like 13K miles on it? If not would you suggest using something like Gorilla 100% silicone to reseal the seam along the windshield? Feel this is definitely a quality control issue in RAMs part as my 2018 which I had for over three years never had any leaks like this.

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures759 Жыл бұрын

    I've seen people use gorilla tape along the cowl seam. I believe promasters only has a video on that. The issue with the cowling existed before the '22.

    Thanks, I might do the same. The max current I would have would be 50 amps, it seems that 2/0 wire would be overkill in my setup.

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures759 Жыл бұрын

    2/0 would be overkill for only pulling 50 amps. Even when I plan on pulling 120 to 150 amps, 2/0 is over kill but I wanted to minimize voltage drop. I hope it still helps you with an idea of how to run your wires through the cab area to get to your DC-DC charger.

    Hello Blue Sky, We have experienced many ProMasters being inconsistent regarding how the factory locks operate. As one of our technicians likes to say, "The ProMaster is a weird bird," which is why we recommend the M2 Thunderbolt lock to operate the deadbolts independently from the ProMaster factory locks. - Team Thunderbolt

  • @blueskyadventures759
    @blueskyadventures759 Жыл бұрын

    That is unfortunate that there is such inconsistency to the ProMaster's locking system. It would be great if you made a guide for your future ProMaster customers so they could determine if they do have to resort to using the M2 lock instead of the M1. Any people prefer the M1 design as you only need a single key and it operates with the factory remote uconnect locking/ unlocking. - Adam

    Greetings, Blue Sky Thunderbolt Locks here...we first want to say "Thank You" for being a customer and for the video explaining how the locks might work in that situation. Keep in mind the M1+ with the lock inhibitor was designed to be a safety feature. In the situation you described, you are correct the user would have to either turn off the ignition or reach over to unlock the deadbolt. We are not hiding this, but rather explain to customers in our guide that the locks are intended to secure contents, not persons. However, we think your solution is clever and well thought out, but not necessary if you install the M1 or M2. The Thunderbolt M2 lock would be an effective alternative as they operate independently from the factory locks, and you choose to engage them only when you desire. The M2 is fast becoming the most popular lock by customers worldwide. Thanks again, and safe travels to you. Team Thunderbolt
