    We can carry any knife in Britain we just need a reason. But if you live in a rural area cops tend not to care as long as it's not ridiculously large and you're not being an idiot with it.

    My first 06 will be the carbone one and the second one would be the walnut I think 😄

    Oh interesting what you point out about the different color beach wood between the carbone and stainless steel blades. I've been confused by seeing the knives on photos with the different handles where oak looked lighter then the beach wood handles but your video clearly shows otherwise! I just bought my first Opinel, a stainless n 8. Will use that while camping mainly for cutting food. But now I want a 6 as my EDC. Keen to try one with a carbone blade, unfortunately then don't give carbone different handle options.. Nice video! :D EDIT: my only complaint would be that mine is a little stiff to open and lock. Is there any way to improve that? I don't want to just start spraying around with WD40 around the wood.

    Just received mine from James and Company. Do not buy this knife sight unseen. The box look like it had been pre-opened. I suspect it was a return because the fit and finish was absolutely terrible. Major gapping on the liners and blade was rubbing against the liner when it was closed. Don't believe I can return it. It's trash

    I am late to the show, I know… But an Old Bear bad??? I have one that is at least as good in cutting, functioning as an Opinel. And looks better. By the way, ever heard about Jose da Cruz? Still have to try a MAM, but I don’t think I trust such a feeble linerlock.

    I carried one when I was overseas in the Army in the early 70's. It was the only size we could carry in uniform and it was for sale in our very tiny PX. I wore it everyday and it was a work knife. I tried to take care of it , but it took some dings here and there. Always a great knife.

    Nice review. I own several Case knives of various styles, acquired over the years…and none of them have gapping. And, when I bought many of them, I didn’t even check to see if there were gaps. Just wasn’t on my radar. Of course, if there had been severe gapping, I would have refused them. Anyways, great every day knives made for a purpose.

    Hello! I am about to buy my first Opinel. And I am between the n.7 and n.8. It will be the tradicional folding one, not the garlic. Do you thing that is big difference in the size of the blades?

  • @TheStreamingEnderman
    @TheStreamingEnderman4 ай бұрын

    Hello! I'd say the No.8 is probably the best bet for most individuals, but if you prefer a smaller knife, or have smaller hands, the '7 may be better for you. Have you carried any other knives? Perhaps I can find a size closest to that. Cheers!

    Yea for me...the 6 is way too small. I have the 8 9 and 10...9 I find for my hand the best fittingnice choices of handle materials too if I may say. A desert ironwood burl would be my choice if they would make one...but I'd go with an olive wood if I had to choose one of theres

    I used my 112 for over many years so I bought a 110 Sadly the 110 doesn’t get used as much, prefer the 112 . Good quality knives both. Only problem is weight for me I’ll prefer the lighter models 2024 half the weight.

    Good video! If you have a chance, put some Brasso on the brass & steel, treat the wood & it will look like a jewel when you are done...I have a '91, so I should know...😊 The front bolster is designed to give you a better grip on the knife while you are processing game...i., e., it will keep your hand from slipping forward & slicing your hand...Also, the knife's balance is towards the back - the heavy end is designed to fit the palm to give you more of a purchase as you gut and begin to process a deer, for example....

    How does the #6 feel in your hand? Would a #7 feel better? My #8 is a perfect fit for my hand, and my first one was a #7, which I lost, and which I loved because it looked so inoffensive.

  • @TheStreamingEnderman
    @TheStreamingEnderman5 ай бұрын

    For me, the No.6 is just right. Any smaller and I'd say it's "too small", however. So if you have larger hands, it may not suit you as well as a '7 or an '8. The larger sizes are equally comfortable, (for me) so I'd say the No.6 is the smallest it could be before entering the realm of uncomfortable. Cheers!

    I will buy a Viking but wish for the shorter blade of the Siglar. First, I need a Helle Lappland, a great Leuku. I carry a Helle Nyling daily since 1985. Everyone should have a Nyling. Helle quality is superb across their line. Another favorite scandi grinder is Ahti from Finland. I have five. I went to Ragweed Forge to get a Viking but found the Ahti Korpi and four others. Very traditional Sami influenced knives. Good video and thoughts.
