We can carry any knife in Britain we just need a reason. But if you live in a rural area cops tend not to care as long as it's not ridiculously large and you're not being an idiot with it.
My first 06 will be the carbone one and the second one would be the walnut I think 😄
Oh interesting what you point out about the different color beach wood between the carbone and stainless steel blades. I've been confused by seeing the knives on photos with the different handles where oak looked lighter then the beach wood handles but your video clearly shows otherwise! I just bought my first Opinel, a stainless n 8. Will use that while camping mainly for cutting food. But now I want a 6 as my EDC. Keen to try one with a carbone blade, unfortunately then don't give carbone different handle options.. Nice video! :D EDIT: my only complaint would be that mine is a little stiff to open and lock. Is there any way to improve that? I don't want to just start spraying around with WD40 around the wood.
I bought my first Opinel last week, a No 08😊, I think I need a 06 as EDC😬
And now the 112 comes in Nickel with a drop point. Outstanding.
Just ordered this and a few Opinels.
This looks very good ,90mm is a good size for all day knifes ill get ones now with the default 4034 stainless and nice wood
Oh dose that walnut come in #8 and where do yah get em
I have a no 6 . Nice knife but very small . They are sharp .
Thanks for V. ! Got the mam sheepfood ...! And love it !👍
Good to hear! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I have three 112's Love them
You've got the 55 too, my favourite 😁😁
Just received mine from James and Company. Do not buy this knife sight unseen. The box look like it had been pre-opened. I suspect it was a return because the fit and finish was absolutely terrible. Major gapping on the liners and blade was rubbing against the liner when it was closed. Don't believe I can return it. It's trash
Definitely not better, but I love my sheepsfoot MAM, that thing is a lot of fun.
Sheffield steel is the best in the world no disrespect to case usa but Sheffield knifes are on another level specialy the old stuff if you can find the old Sheffield black sleel knifes there the best your gonna put in your pocket for holding a edge strength and quality
I am late to the show, I know… But an Old Bear bad??? I have one that is at least as good in cutting, functioning as an Opinel. And looks better. By the way, ever heard about Jose da Cruz? Still have to try a MAM, but I don’t think I trust such a feeble linerlock.
I carried one when I was overseas in the Army in the early 70's. It was the only size we could carry in uniform and it was for sale in our very tiny PX. I wore it everyday and it was a work knife. I tried to take care of it , but it took some dings here and there. Always a great knife.
Already got one!
i love opinel knives i have opinel 12 saw i love it
The only no6 I own is a walnut....the handle is polished to a mirror finish, I have now only to mirror polish the blade.
I always overlooked these pocket knives...but im starting to really appreciate the classic design...and that thin blade.
I like the Beechwood I have the no 6 and 7 the 7 is green colorama Yep 👍 you can get them scary sharp great video !
I have a No. 4, a No. 12, and a No. 8 in walnut. I also have a No. 10 in carbon steel somewhere.
Buck 110 is the way to go.
Traditional-ish? Dude those knives are made since 1890 😂😂
Nice review. I own several Case knives of various styles, acquired over the years…and none of them have gapping. And, when I bought many of them, I didn’t even check to see if there were gaps. Just wasn’t on my radar. Of course, if there had been severe gapping, I would have refused them. Anyways, great every day knives made for a purpose.
Get a Quick deploy Shieth pull it out it is open one hand !
Hello! I am about to buy my first Opinel. And I am between the n.7 and n.8. It will be the tradicional folding one, not the garlic. Do you thing that is big difference in the size of the blades?
Hello! I'd say the No.8 is probably the best bet for most individuals, but if you prefer a smaller knife, or have smaller hands, the '7 may be better for you. Have you carried any other knives? Perhaps I can find a size closest to that. Cheers!
Walnut is my favorite. But I swap the inox blades out for the carbon ones.
Nice handle choice! And a great blade, too. Cheers!
Is your pinky having enough space to fit around the butt of the handle?
I own several Otter Messers. Each is exceptional well built with beautiful finishing.
my name is Jesse turner I am disabled and broke I have a new KZread channel and I was wondering if you had some knifes you would be willing to let me have to make my own videos on please let me know what you think of this
These knives (and I own several), are way too nice, too good, and too inexpensive for any man not to own a few !!! It's just that simple !!!
Yea for me...the 6 is way too small. I have the 8 9 and 10...9 I find for my hand the best fittingnice choices of handle materials too if I may say. A desert ironwood burl would be my choice if they would make one...but I'd go with an olive wood if I had to choose one of theres
lovely collections shame there lock . fav walnut
I used my 112 for over many years so I bought a 110 Sadly the 110 doesn’t get used as much, prefer the 112 . Good quality knives both. Only problem is weight for me I’ll prefer the lighter models 2024 half the weight.
Good video! If you have a chance, put some Brasso on the brass & steel, treat the wood & it will look like a jewel when you are done...I have a '91, so I should know...😊 The front bolster is designed to give you a better grip on the knife while you are processing game...i., e., it will keep your hand from slipping forward & slicing your hand...Also, the knife's balance is towards the back - the heavy end is designed to fit the palm to give you more of a purchase as you gut and begin to process a deer, for example....
Thanks for watching! And yes, Brasso works beautifully. Cheers!
@@TheStreamingEndermanyou are most welcome!
Bucks haven't been worth their price for over 20 years. SOOO many better options.
I may have to agree with you on that
I’m very sad to hear you bad mouth Buck. I find their knives to be great! You would do well to give them another look.
Lost 2 of these (and a 110!) as a younger man, I'm loving my current Gerber AR 3.0 but have ordered my daughter a custom 112 with nickel hardware, she's into bushcraft etc. Great knives.
Great dad.
Cheers:) She's had a half-decent locknife with a damascus blade from Anglo Arms for about 3 years now, but the liner lock is stiff as hell on it, and it lost the thumb peg... looking forward to her having a bit of higher quality to work with:) @@kriskabin
@KevPage-Witkicker 👍 Hopefully she'll hang onto it for her entire life & think of you fondly when she looks at it. Great job, dad!👏
That's the plan:) She opted for the s30v steel herself:) @@kriskabin
How does the #6 feel in your hand? Would a #7 feel better? My #8 is a perfect fit for my hand, and my first one was a #7, which I lost, and which I loved because it looked so inoffensive.
For me, the No.6 is just right. Any smaller and I'd say it's "too small", however. So if you have larger hands, it may not suit you as well as a '7 or an '8. The larger sizes are equally comfortable, (for me) so I'd say the No.6 is the smallest it could be before entering the realm of uncomfortable. Cheers!
What Black Friday Sale? Where did you get the discount...from what vendor?
No mate it is necessary you tell those politicians I'm sick of their silly laws regarding lock knives and you are right the shabby people use kitchen knives.
I will buy a Viking but wish for the shorter blade of the Siglar. First, I need a Helle Lappland, a great Leuku. I carry a Helle Nyling daily since 1985. Everyone should have a Nyling. Helle quality is superb across their line. Another favorite scandi grinder is Ahti from Finland. I have five. I went to Ragweed Forge to get a Viking but found the Ahti Korpi and four others. Very traditional Sami influenced knives. Good video and thoughts.
Jesus you talk some !
We have a guy at work whose handle got messed up and so he made a new handle out of pine that was aged and then he let it sit for a few months and stained it.
All what's missing on that knife is fifty years of patina from being in my pocket.
I love my 110, had a 112 years ago but lost it, that was a great little knife. You cant be a knife collector and not own a buck at somepoint in your life. Everyone has to experience these knives
Nice review
Thank you! Cheers!
I treat blade laws like taxes, I ignore them.
I just bought this on eBay. But mine has 112v on the side of the blade? Any clue what that means?
