I don't think it's every day you run across a craftsman like Lee White. Even the plain-jane working man's knives that he makes are beautiful. Thanks for showing this one, buddy. Cheers.

That's the way to do it. Buy the standard every day working model for daily use and keep the premier models (I only have nine of them 😀) for special occasions! The Mother of Pearl model is just to die for but very expensive.

Exactly my thought! Considering the fact the Barlows were originally working knives, it feels almost MORE authentic to use them!

Absolutely love your channel and reviews. I find it extremely helpful when you comment on the pull strength. Having poor hand dexterity due to arthritis I find this info invaluable. Would you mind telling me out of the slipjoints you have reviewed which would have the softest pull for deploying the blade etc.? Thanks and keep up the fantastic work...

Hello, and thank you for your kind words! For pull strength, I can safely say that Case, Rough Ryder and particularly Grohmann are the best brands I've seen for softer pulls. Boker and Otter are a little tough, and as for Sheffield knives, well...you'd best avoid them as they are easily the tightest springs out there. If you feel confident, I would suggest a TEW, but A. Wrights can be tough, even for me. It all depends on the individual, but I quite like Grohmann's Slimline for a gentle pull knife. Let me know if I can help further, cheers!

I love Barlow's and really respect the Sheffield heritage & steel but I just don't like 1 blade folders. 2 and some 3 blades are my thing.

And put together by the likes of Lee White, if I remember. Albeit at quite a rate of knots. Muscle memory I'd guess. As well as it's obvious ergonomics, I actually really like the brushed steel and rosewood look. Kinda modernish to my eyes.

I agree with the brushed look. Also, yes. Lee White makes these as his "day job". They aren't as "posh" as the Premier ones. But still a lovely, traditional, Sheffield user.

Just received mine from James and Company. Do not buy this knife sight unseen. The box look like it had been pre-opened. I suspect it was a return because the fit and finish was absolutely terrible. Major gapping on the liners and blade was rubbing against the liner when it was closed. Don't believe I can return it. It's trash

Knife is rubbish. I just got mine yesterday and if I didn't pay so much money to get it (listed for $55, $70 total with shipping and taxes) I would have tossed it in the trash. I bought it because of review channels praising it and now feel like y'all are just salesmen and not honest reviewers.

Hi Kol, I am sorry to hear that you got a bad knife. Plus, that price is a bit too high. But I would appreciate an explanation on why the knife didn't live up to your expectations. Was it of low quality? Or was it just a personal asthetic complaint? Because the knife (mine, at least) was of rather excellent quality, for the price. The only "problem" I could possibly find is that the knife doesn't live up to the "eye-candy" expectation. It isn't pretty, it's a user knife. Not a Premier Collection model. So if all you're complaining about is a lack of style, you shouldn't have purchased it. If you don't like it because it was just a badly made one, then that's perfectly understandable. I always try my best to make reviews that are perfectly accurate to my experience. If I see a flaw, I'll point it out. If I hate a knife, I'll say so. If I love it, I'll say so. So I would appreciate to hear the reason why this knife was "trash".

@@TheStreamingEnderman I hate to be the guy complaining about anything, especially a tool we all love. First off I'll start by saying I purchased the knife because of reviews I've watched praising it, as well as the fact that it's "hand made". Because it's hand made one could and should expect a bit higher quality. I personally wouldn't want my name on something that is lower quality then a cheap Chinese knife, and that's what this knife is. A rough rider goes for $17-20 and is of higher quality for a third of the price. The fit and finish of the knife is terrible. The liners are not flat, and look like they've been hit with a hammer prior to assembly, creating gaps between them and the back spring. They are distorted, not bent. The covers look like a child beveled them, with inconsistent shaping. Same with the bolsters. The spring is out of flush closed .5mm and 1mm or more in the half stop. The blade has a gap between it and the spring when open. One of the cover pins is not peened in the inside and sticks out inside the knife. It's literally very poor quality. Here's the facts though. These are production parts, stamped out of flat stock just like a production knife. The parts are sent over to an "assembler" to put together. He probably has been doing it for a long time and has a quota, and frankly just doesn't care anymore. He just whips them together and sends them out the door. He probably has a lot of pressure to get as many done as possible. This isn't a hand made knife. Is a hand assembled knife like it's IKEA furniture. It's a shame really. Had reviewers been honest I had been happier with a case or 2 rough riders. Show all the flaws, not just the "walk and talk". And stop praising a guy that lets that kind of quality out the door. I wouldn't allow it in my line of business and I'm sure you wouldn't either. I'm not mas at Lee for doing his job. I'm sure he's doing the best he can. But the company needs to be held responsible. The standards of Sheffield rely on it.

Hi again, Kol. I appreciate the time, truly. First of all, I can't speak for other reviewers, but my knife WAS very well-made. Yours? Not so much. Which does bring up the question of QC. I can't believe they let that thing out of the factory. Again, I believe you have every right to be upset at TEW. I would to. I still stand by what I said in regards to my copy. As mine was great. Sure, my copy doesn't represent all of them, but I DID give an honest review on MY copy. I can't vouche for other reviewers, but that's just my perspective. I also believe TEW has a lifetime warranty against defects. Thanks again for commenting. All the best.

I got the lambfoot version of this yesterday and it's absolutely great for the price,, all knife companies might let a "lemon" out of the door occasionally,, (ESPECIALLY CASE),, So you can't condemn a company, and a craftsman, based on one poor knife,,.. I am completely happy with my new TEW knife..
