    I park my fld for weeks at a time and have no issues. I thought this was set up so I can see how low my volts are before cranking up my truck. It will still turn on slowly on the firs line,i use my gauge as a guide to how low my batteries are.

    I have a question for you my friend. I have a 1998 Freightliner Classic. Just replaced the batteries and put deep cycles in. Just put a brand new alternator on 160 amp. My problem is the voltage gauge . At idle, my alternator is only 12.6 volts. Going down the road it'll do 14 to 14.5, gauge needle humps up and down, my other gauges, you can see them bright and dim. Coukd this new alternator ve bad, or is it the batteries? Any idesa are greatly appreciated

  • @CadeIvy
    @CadeIvy Жыл бұрын

    I don’t know if this is your issue, but generally speaking you’re not supposed to use deep cycle batteries in on-highway applications because they aren’t rated for the incredibly high amp draw of a starter is my understanding of it, so dropping in some regular batteries might be a good place to start, but the alternator could be defective, or the alternator belts could be slipping, or the alternator pulley could be spinning on the shaft at low speeds.

    I’m having the same issue right now and actually didn’t know about this until i watched your video.. so i took my batteries to autozone, got them recharged and now the truck will actually turn on for a few seconds but when you press on the gas pedal it won’t do anything. The pedal feels loose.. any suggestions?

    In the video, you said the top plate usually can’t be removed without removing the transmission. Well, luckily, I have a truck that ALLOWS top plate removal in the truck!! 2004 Sterling LT 9500 has a big enough access hole around the shifter to allow the top plate to be removed. It’s right, but it can be removed thru that hole!! I’m having low to high issues. Gonna trouble shoot several things today!! Great video!! Thanks for posting it!!

    hello sir , i own a differential business and this past Friday i received a call from a gentleman DESPERATE for help !! he had an 2002 freightliner with trans problems ! i explained that that's not what i do however he convinced me to help him !! NOTE ive never seen the inside of a eaton transmission let alone fix one but long story short i rebuilt the rear box over the weekend but the truck wont shift to low range , any ideas on that issue ???

  • @CadeIvy
    @CadeIvy3 жыл бұрын

    Check the air lines on the range shift piston it’s on the back of the transmission and it’s located externally because it’s an RTX. Also make sure that the transmission is in neutral before attempting to range shift. The transmission will not range shift while it is in gear

Sir I have a 10 speed that from high to low won’t go like it should unless I move my shifter sideways or put it in gear I hear it drop to low , there’s no grinding at all and my synchronizer was changed a few years back because it was doing the same thing but from low to high gears , do you think synchro went bad again?

    I'd love to put one of these behind a 5.9 Cummins in a 2 ton truck I'm piecing together. Where would I go to find a compatible flywheel (maybe off a freightliner, etc) and flywheel housing (is it SAE2 ?) with a good 14" clutch to make it work?

  • @CadeIvy
    @CadeIvy3 жыл бұрын

    They do make a SAE 2 flywheel housing for these transmissions, but it’s very rare. I found one on a sterling crane truck with a c7 caterpillar in it. The truck had an 8ll transmission in it but the bell housing is the same for that transmission and a 10 speed

    Check you splitter system first, one thing you can do if you have the FRO transmission is remove the aluminum splitter module on the top of the transmission, and next to me of the bolt holes there will be two small approx 1/4 inch holes with o-rings. The key will be to pressurize these holes one at a time. Pressurizing one will but the transmission in hi range, and pressurizing the other will put the transmission in low range, make sure there are no internal leaks between the two holes, and verify that the internal piston is moving, then troubleshoot accordingly

    Cade, Any ideas on how to free a stuck lockout pin without having to remove the hydro from the mower?

  • @CadeIvy
    @CadeIvy4 жыл бұрын

    the pin should have a 5/16 or 8mm bolt head, spray penetrating oil around the base and rotate the head no more than one turn to the left while trying to move the pin, then work the pin left to right while trying to pull it in and out until it moves freely, when it’s finally free just re torque the bolt to a few foot pounds

  • @jonathananderson371
    @jonathananderson3715 жыл бұрын

    The race in the cast-iron part of the transmission is off-center. After taking this part off it can be rotated 180 degrees before it is put back on. If the lobe of the offset is positioned on the same side as the dump valves, the output will turn CCW. If the lobe of the offset is positioned on the side opposite of the dump valves, the output will turn CW.

    What is the cause for a weak hydro for a walker? Can they be fixed?

    My Zero turn has independent pumps for the left and the right drive wheels. The left hand pump doesn't work and the right one does. I have an good extra right hand pump. Can that one be adjusted to use on the left side?

  • @CadeIvy
    @CadeIvy5 жыл бұрын

    Jeanne Keenan if it’s a walker you can and with most mid mounts you can, for a walker just take the hydraulic unit separate from the gearbox, there should be two t40 torx screws in the back, take those loose, and without separating the two housings, spin the back side 180 degrees until the two screws line back up, now it will work for the other side, side note is you will have to order a fan for the correct direction as the original will now blow backwards
