  I try my best to make these patches with no “amp” in the chain. This way HX effects users can grab these presets as well. However there may be one or two in this collection that won’t work. But most will!

  You should consider stripping these back for the HX Effects, without the amp modeling but just all of the time-based effects. If you don't have an HX Effects unit, I'd be willing to help with that job. You've got some really cool tones going on here!

  This is a tough question. In my opinion dialing in guitars sounds on headphones can sometimes lie to you. It may sound like a dream in your headphones and then you get to the gig and you wonder “what happened!?”. Ultimately I would recommend some sort of speaker. Headrush makes a great FRFR speaker. But you can use almost any headphone if you learn the “errors” in whatever headphones you go with.

  One thing I always suggest is make sure your helix is not sending “line” level. It’s in global settings. I run mine “isnt” and “mic”. It gives you way more headroom on your PA gain input. Just a suggestion.

  Thanks so much!! So my main amps are Helix. I recently added in the UA lion and UA Ruby pedal and then the helix for switching and effects. Just totally different textures for amps. I stopped using plugins a while ago. There are some great companies, but I personally like the sound of my Apollo preamps going into the DAW. Harder to do that with plugins. That’s just my process though.

  Yo what’s interesting is how it actually makes the Helix effects shine more. I’m no scientist or specialist with digital algorithms they use, but maybe there is something there that “smears” the effects slightly when using Helix amps and IRs. It’s not a bad sound at all, it’s just a specific to Line 6. Having “amp pedals” that their soul purpose is making the ONE amp sound amazing allows the amp quality to shine more with UA. Especially with the early/mid break up sound. The Helix is still undefeated for HEAVY high gain /metal tones though.

  You’re 100% correct. All that matters is what you paint with these colors. A good artist will always make something great. So it’s not in the tools. It’s in the inspiration of the artist i.e. you! So for the time being, I’m inspired by these UA pedals to paint and create.

  Why did you choose to go into the interface instead of just running USB from the helix to your computer?

  The main reason is so I can process the sound going in more. I use UA Apollo interfaces and I just prefer the unison pre amp sound. Secondly the Helix as an interface just felt a little too “cold” for me sonically. I have used it in the past on the road and for live uses running my Ableton synths through it with my bass signal. So it’s great for some things for sure. But for me I have just gotten a better result processing it as its own unit into studio pre amps. But whatever gets you making music and inspires you, go for it!

  Yes, It depends on the type of song i'm working on. If it needs super punchy modern guitars I use SSL or API channel strips, if its more vintage or "vintage" sounding I use the NEVE 1084 or Helios preamps. I try not compress more than 3db going in if I use compression at all going in. I also try not to color too much with EQ.

  I am fairly certain I didn’t use any amp blocks when building these. So yes. BUT I’ve built so many packs lately, I would have to double check. If you do buy this pack and some do not work, I’ll refund or send you something else.

  I’m not too familiar with the layout and function of the pod go. I THINK it maybe is the same as the stomp series. But without having a physical pod go to build the presets on, I would hate to make a mistake building the presets on my Helix floor. Hopefully SOON though!

  How did you hook up the big sky to the helix. I'm confused with the helix in/out and the big sky right and left of how i should hook it up right for stereo?

  There are tons of videos that will explain it better than how I’m about to. First take a cable from Helix Send 1 to Left input of big sky. Second. Take cable from helix send 2 to right input of big sky. Then put a cable From big sky left output to Helix Return 1 Then put a cable from big sky right output to Helix return 2 THEN put a stereo effects loop block in helix (Loop 1&2) on a stereo path. Boom. 💥
