I raise my glass to Saab for being the spark that set off the impending global phenomenon that was Top Gun.

Bought one 4 yrs old in 1977 for £450 already rotten as a pear. Painted and sold it. 6 weeks later the engine fell out. Very fast and great to drive but , apart from the Moskvich the biggest rot box ever.

Saab had the worst advertising, due to its failures to mention its pathological obsession with safety. Volvo and Saab informally competed for the best crash test results

John Gardener best fictional spy was Boyse Oaks, played in the 1965 film by Rod Taylor. I am working my way through the 12 John Gardener James Bond audio books while working out at the Gym, each morning. A lot of double, and triple twists. Q is female and nicknamed Qourt !

Brilliant clip at these times 1977 ,cause not only SAAB 99 TURBO has beaten local-matador BMW 528i , even Baxter's report style was classic,, same as for the first Concorde flight in 1969 !! 😐 RIP

The vision of Don Simpson to see the genius in Tony Scott's style & visual artistry. Only Ridley could have done it if not Tony. Just look at Blade Runner those visuals rival Top Guns.
