Very sad that I went to ortho for minor crowding and got four major bicuspids extracted and wore retractive headgear for about a year. This happened from 1966 to 1971. Causing severe head and jaw pain. A specialist from Biola said I have a long upper pallate that is back into my airway - and there is 70% obstruction. He offered a nine hour surgury to solve the problem. Is there an alternative treatment? Like reverse headgear, or some new manipulative physical therapy? I live in Aptos, California.

An airway dentist can expand your jaws and put in inplants for the teeth that were extracted

I truly believe removal and retraction of my list premolars has restricted my tongue space and I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea only after this procedure occurred!! It's awful. They're needs to be a class action lawsuit.

Interesting. I take a single 8mg ephedrine pill before bed just to keep my sinuses clear while I sleep. We really do need to pay more attention to the things around us that cause inflammation or we'll find ourselves mouth breathing all night. It could be pets, it could be losing weight, it could be cleaning more often.

I realized that I was breathing through my mouth since I caught covid. I have had some sort of sinus inflammation since. I was wondering why my face wasn't looking as nice as it used to. Brushed it off to normal aging. Now 3 years later I am learning to breathe again. Damn, I was not ready for all the nose blowing 😂. My face looks better now, a month in. I can't wait to undo the past 3 years.

I guess a lot of people become mouth breathers at the childhood stage when their adult teeth come through . As a child you have adult teeth in a young persons head. I’m sure this is the reason the mouth is forced open to accommodate the larger teeth.

What is done is done. You can still look after your functionnal habits (breathing, tongue posture, swalloing). Try to get an appointment with a myofunctionnal therapist (or an oro-maxillo-facial physiotherapist). Don't let things damage you !

Because of Dr. Hang my son’s airway is better and we didn’t have to remove permanent teeth to get his teeth in line. Truly a leader in airway issues. Thank you Dr. Hang for the work you do.

Cardamom pods held in the mouth when not eating cause total nose breathing. The green pods are more or less tasteless and spraying with propolis occasionally further enhances oral health.

I'm 9 months into sagittal expansion therapy, my from top and bottom teeth are starting to flare outward, and I'm kind of scared about it. Do braces fix the flaring after expansion therapy? I'm noticing in some of these final results that you pretty much have to use flaring to achieve at least some of the space to get an implant in there. How much flaring should I expect in the final result? I had 4 premolar extractions in adolescence, and I'm now 49.
