This channel is about fishing, and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Fishing for catfish is something I’ve done since I was a kid. Now, I am raising the bar by pursuing bigger catfish, more fish, and trying various catfish fishing techniques on various waterways around the southeast.
While I primarily pursue catfish, you will also see crappie, striped bass and even sharks caught as I enjoy the fishing lifestyle.
Through these videos you will come along with me in the preparation, the fishing, and even the time off the water, in the woods, and with the family.

This old man will give you my take on this rig. I catch twice as many fish here on a standard suspended bait rig. However the quality of the bite and the fish caught are better with the Santee rig. So thanks for the video I love the rig and am going to have alot of fun tweaking it.

we had high water from the tropical system in the gulf pushing saltwater up into the estuaries.. catfish were on the move going further inshore for fresher water and biting like crazy

I really dont know a whole lot about all the technical details of spawn. I would fish anyways lol. But last weekend i bank fished the mississippi and caught two good sized flatheads and one small channel. I didnt weight them but both flatheads were were good size one over 24 inches the other wasn't far behind

Went out this morning and to 2 good size catfish. One just over 2 lbs and the other just under 3 lbs.
I've seen that boat motors can be a lot like toddlers at times. Can't tell you what's wrong and you have to search for what the problem is. If you're really good with motors you might have a head start but to a newbie you could spend couple hours learning your motor or taking to the local shop. Always great info and story. Safe travels.
The bites dead on Fontana, down matter what depth you try. Not anything is biting, only thing I been hooking is snags
I would have immediately had my name removed from the board and apologized for my mistake. And it is both sides fault a spot was given and prizes awarded. A first event is tough and credit goes to both for correction of an error. I am surprised that state doesn't do measurements and weight as all have departments that do that.

Where I'm at you only find bullheads and channels, but the bite has started to slowly pick back up. Caught a decent channel last night!

Went a couple times this week so far and the bite still isnt here. I live in central Oklahoma. Going again today. Got plenty of bait biting, just no big fish. No bass or catfish.
In Ohio they just gave a girl the record for biggest blue cat and she caught it on a jug.
Basic rule of thumb for replacing an impeller is every year, but at a minimum every other year. If an outboard doesn't have strong flow at idle, then it definitely needs an impeller. The impeller housing and gaskets need to be changed every 2-3 years.
Only sexually reproductive fish are spawning so if you're not catching fish, there's a number of reasons why but the spawn is a small part of the reason. The number of non reproductive fish outnumber reproductive fish.

on your im not sure on my 60 mercury it hooks in on the water jacket and a water line goes to a gage at the helm. You can tell the minute the water pump starts to get week. check with your boat motor mechanic he will know it shouldn't run you that much. When my dad still had his shop he wouldn't let a new boat leave without one. It's good insurance and peace of mind

I tried fishing the Ashley river is SC today. I found out if you have heart disease, don’t fish mid early morning in the South. I could only fish for about 45 minutes before I started down hill. It looks like my fishing days are now forever going to be fishing nights. During the Summertime for now.

Blue crab population is in trouble because of the redfish. There are way to many redfish because of the strict limits on the east Coast for redfish.
Its great channel catfish bait get them over 20 lbs some say stays on easier than liver

That explains why the cats i caught in NW Alabama last week didn't put up a fight. Seemed almost like dead weight. The largest were a couple of 5lb blues but they hardly fought until I tried to net them. Also caught some smaller flats and channel. Almost all were male. Caught the better ones during the day between 10am and 1pm. Bite died after that.
The ones today were very lethargic
There are several ways to snell a hook. I call that one the outside snell because the line tied on is on top of all of the wrappings instead of under. More difficult this way, but I’ve had less break offs the this one.

I have also seen the small dirt daubers clog up the outlet in a weeks time. I use to put a piece of weedeater string in mine to stop them from getting in.
