I’m just getting into Shakespeare in my early forties and this has been so useful! Thx :)
as a year 11 student, by any chance would you say that using the words 'may', could, but, perhaps in your analysis you are reaching those top levels in the mark scheme.
it doesn't automatically mean that, but it is certainly a good sign that a student understands how to express themselves in an English essay. Those words become more powerful when being used to evaluate (it could mean this... but it also could mean this...); successful evaluation IS a top of the mark scheme skill.
Hey, im a new viewer....i cant seem to see the analysis of the 2nd stanza.......and btw i love ur videos already😘
I accidentally deleted the footage! Read the pinned comment for the analysis
Oh oke thanks!
@streamEnglish Please, is it still possible for me to submit essay questions from my paper 2 edexcel english language non fiction?
hiya! Could you say that the sky is a synechdoche for freedom at 36:44 or would that not be correct? :)) ❣💕
Afraid not as that wouldn't be correct use of the term. Synecdoche is when a part of something is used to represent the whole. For example, 'heels' is synecdoche of 'high heels' as you are using one part of the shoe to refer to the whole shoe. Other examples would be 'wheels' for a car or 'the crown' for the monarchy.
Thanks for making this ozymandias easier for me to understand. I really got better than before when i was first introduced to it , it was well detailed and explainable
THANKS!
Hi! I really love your videos. Could you do a video on the text 'Beyond the Sky and the Earth' for the people who do edexcel igcse please!
I have a strong feeling that this text is coming up tomorrow!
hopefully it does 😩or game of polo
@@ilhaana5032 i was literally also thinking game of polo as well 🤣🤣well hopefully we will be correct. Good luck for tomorrow :)
@@ecaterinakate IT came up!
@@ilhaana5032 omg yes it did!! How did you find the paper?? :)) I was so glad the the unseen text was quite straight forwards unlike my mock paper.
@@ilhaana5032 btw, for question five, how many paragraphs did you write? :))💕💝💘😇
For the quote: "Your apathy is like a wound in salt". Could it also suggest that in the long run, despite the initial breakup being painful, it is what they needed, just like how salt in a wound in painful initially but heals the wound in the long run? And that this may imply that the relationship could have been toxic. This idea is reinforced as "apathy" shows how their partner did not care, highlighting how the relationship and the speaker's partner may have been toxic.
Hiii, your videos are very useful for me, you really explains and analysis the texts really well. Although I will be having my exam tomorrow, but can you please do the rest of the non-fiction texts for the IGCSE edexcel English Language A for the students that will be taking their igcse next year or even the year later. Thank you so much!!
Kindly do analysis of the other fiction and nonfiction texts also . your vids are very helpful as an IGCSE Eng student
Thank you for this
Thank you
I am already a grade 9 student, and this pushed me even further!

MISS THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!! THEY HELP A LOT. one thing: please remove music because it is very distracting, old vidoes without music in them were much better. otherwise, thank you and fantasti c content.
A big thanks from an arabic speakig syrian student 🎉
As a year 9 chinese student inside an incredibly competitive private school, This surpassed many of my English Teacher's lessons. strange how just a random youtube video can be more helpful than expensive education! Keep Up the Good Work!
This is so true! a lot of KZreadrs are able to properly explain things unlike a teacher 😭
lol pog yeahhhh TABRACAHAAAAAAAAAAAA
Along with language analysis and quotes, could you write a whole essay for GCSE just based upon different motifs and how they are presented throughout the play?
Depends on the question, but potentially! You only want to write about points which are relevant to the question
@@StreamEnglish thank you so much! this video was really helpful :)
uno the quote about the patriotic tear, you had mentioned how this 'patriotism ' is symbolic of pride, could i then go on to talk about the quote pride comes before fail, and how this may be flasghforwarding his fathers death. Since i need suin original on top of your analysis ofcc
I would say that there isn't enough evidence in the poem to reach that argument. I think you're amazing for working on having your own interpretation as well, though! It's such a great skill to be able to hear someone else's interpretation and then build on it with your own.

Exam in 4 hours thank you so much
Hope it went well!
for the introduction you said its not possible to explain an inspector calls without mentioning what happened between 1912 and 1945 but for edexcel context isnt marked so do i still need to?
I have read examiner comments from Edexcel that have said, while context is not assessed, if it is used well then it can give validity to the argument being made. You can therefore view some context as being an incredibly useful defence for your analysis and still worth using. You wouldn't want to spend ages on it, though. The 1912-1945 example is one I WOULD keep to help evaluate the significance of all the dramatic irony and allusions in the play.
@@StreamEnglish Okay thank you :) btw I commented on your inspector analysis video could you please check?
If the inspector uses blunt language to shock his audience and prevent "building a wall" then why doesnt he explicitly say or get eric to admit that he raped eva?
Hi, your videos are very useful for me as I am a non-English speaker. Can you please upload all IGCSE Edexcel English Language and English Literature texts and poems? This will be a great help to understand the writer's idea. Thank you
Thank you! I absolutely intend to upload more for the Edexcel IGCSE
Thank you so much for this as this has really helped; do you think you would consider making a video like this for paper 2 [particularly questions 4 and 2 ?]? If not, no worries and thank you so much for this video
Amazing videos on all the poetry, thank you very much for these resources.
You're welcome!
I believe the part 'huts of history's shame' is a metaphor literally alluding to the way in which the African were placed on the barracks in hut like cages to be sold off into slavery. Infact it was a historical shame that their fellow Africans can round them up in such a way just to gain financial or economic development. But the encoded meaning speaks to the life of Maya Angelou where she was raped by her step father at the age of six. After which she became mute for 5 years being encompasses in fear and shame. But eventually she rised from the huts of historical shame finding her voice and identity in her literary career
Great in-depth analysis! Please could you explain negative capability again please? Got my English literature exam in a few weeks. Please keep posting some more analysis videos of the Edexcel igcse anthology poems (possibly of mice and men:)
Hi, I just want to say thank you so much for this video, it really helped me understand question four and ive moved up from 6 to 8 since November. I do OCR but the questions are similar and I didnt get what evaluating was before so thank you!
hello i have my igcses very soon are you making videos on the rest of literature edexcel anthology poems?
I well agree with the time point that you brought up as in text there was so much going on and when Mrs Mallard went to her room obviously when someone you love dies you need some space or like some alone time to be more specific and I mean by that it could take an hour for that as well if you know what I mean; to recover from that pain and grief so yes she needed some time so you're right by the point of time there, and tysmm for the video helped alot for my boards ❤✨
Greetings from Germany We will write an English exam on Friday, and this has helped a lot
thank you so much
Hi, Tysmm for this video ❤
This poem is really good and on top of that you’ve summed it up perfectly!! I wish I could’ve found your channel before because these videos are very helpful!👌🏻
could you do one on the Tyger, do not go gentle into that good night, half past two and if
Does “Faustian Bargain” make sense when describing Macbeth or especially Lady Macbeth?
It's very close, but I don't think it is a clear cut 'yes'. The reason I say that is because a Faustian bargain implies the individual has actively made a choice to give up the moral value; part of the debate of the play is whether Macbeth is making a choice or just fulfilling fate. One could certainly make the case for elements of the Faustian Bargain, but I would argue that would be at least an A Level standard essay and not a level of argument required for even grade 9 of GCSE.

hello :) just wanted to ask if youre an examiner?
I have been an examiner for AQA multiple times, yes.
Most underrated channel out of all time! I have never, ever, ever seen a channel this well structured, in depth, easy to understand and overall high quality. Just got my M5 results back and turns out I've jumped from a 5 to a 9 because of you! Absolute Gem
That is so unbelievably kind of you to say - thank you! And many congratulations on your fantastic grade jump!
