    What was the brand of that blue cap? Many companies use that blue color. Even F&T has dual can caps in that color. But I can't believe that F&T would die in 5 years. I use them in most of my amplifiers and I haven't seen any issues yet. They measure at or above the given value. ESR is always good. Though last batch of 50 + 50 500V I got sections are more apart then before. One side has higher capacitance and better ESR than the other. Still way in the tolerance and at positive side. But old batch was having more alike values. One cap would be better than others in the old batch but they were all above stated values. 32 + 32 were very similar between sections and between each other. Their single caps were even more consistent for me.

    Few years ago there was a Marshall PA head for reasonable price in the music store in the other city. It looked very similar to that one. I was like score, if it has proper irons it’s a gold. Plus so many channels that must mean lot of preamp tubes and other goodies. Then I saw inside pictures and that was it. Disaster. Plus no way near what I thought it will be. Way less parts and modified and worked on. Looked very sad and I just decided not to get it. Something cheaper than it should be is often just almost junk. It’s nice t easy to get those good deals.

    Great Video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe. I have a question. ON the FRYETTE website you sell COLOR CODED speaker cables for the POWER STATION. are these standard speaker cables or necessary for the use of the PS-100 ???????? THX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FryetteAmps
    @FryetteAmpsКүн бұрын

    Standard speaker cables are usually 18ga. "Heavy Duty" cables are usually 16ga. Our cables are 14ga for maximum power handling capacity from the amp to the Power Station, and maximum fidelity from the Power Station to your cab.

    Not good enough Mr Fryette your amps all seem to have little gremlins and problems straight out of the box. Where's the QC on your amps mate ? You don't have these problems with Marshall or others yet your amps have problems new from the shop ???? Overrated product and Overpriced not impressed at all, since buying a NEW 2/90/2 nothing but problems. My old Marshall mono block is still kicking arse after 25yrs.

    Signal path is Amp In > Line Out > Line In > FX Loop > Power Amp > Speaker Out. If you want effects direct to DAW, use Line Out > external effects > DAW, or FX Send > external effects > DAW.

    To FRYETTE: I have a PS100(which I love) HOWEVER:: I was wondering If the cyclops in ANY way solves the problem of Not being able to hear the Effects in the effects loop in the outgoing "line out" (either balanced or unbalanced) that goes to the DAW. You stated that the "effects loop" is AFTER the "line out" Thereby nullifying any effects in the loop. So the only way I can see around this is: Going from the "Balanced line out into the input of the effects chain...then from the effects chain out, into the DAW...Is that about it???

  • @FryetteAmps
    @FryetteAmps12 күн бұрын

    The Power Station Line Out is a line level copy of your amps output connected to a load. That is what you would normally send to an interface or DAW and add your effects within the DAW. The FX Loop takes that Line Out level and sends it to external effects, then returns them to be sent to the power amp stage in the Power Station so you will hear the effects in the speakers. So what you're asking for is TWO Line Outs. The one that's already there serving its intended purpose, and then another one that feeds off of the Power Station Speaker Output that you can use to send the total effected signal to wherever else you intend to connect that. Since there is no room on the rear panel to add another line out, you should consider getting an external line out level box for the second function. Or, simply send from the loop to pedals and the output of pedals to your recording interface or DAW for example.

    I'll never understand techs who are hesitant to replace 40 year old electrolytic caps. Just replace it and be good another 40 years.

  • @FryetteAmps

    We'll never understand why people insist on paying for, or charging others for an operation that we've proven repeatedly is not always necessary, or even recommended in many cases. But sure, please tell us how many times you will do or pay for this operation again using the same logic over the next 40 years.

    @@FryetteAmps I'd rather spend $50 on caps that I know will last 40 years than wait until they fail and I've got bigger problems. Just me. I think you might be part of the minority in this thinking.

  • @FryetteAmps

    @@tetsuo2195 We are definitely in the minority. We'd rather leave tested, well performing 40 year old capacitors in a perfectly functioning amplifier than charge the customer $200 (because that is what it would really cost them) to replace them with current parts that in many cases likely would not last even 10 years. Understanding how this dynamic works in the real world is essential and often misunderstood, which is the point of this video. The facts, supported by scientifically derived evidence beats personal bias and internet hearsay every time.

    @@FryetteAmps I was speaking as someone who can work on amps, so $50 in parts, to me, is worth the peace of mind, . There is no harm in replacing 40 year old filter caps. You can find science that says you might not die from smoking a a cigarette today. But why not eliminate the risk and just quit now? Those old caps might test ok and work, but why chance it to save a few bucks? I don't see any benefit to keeping old filter caps. But, to each their own.

  • @FryetteAmps

    @@tetsuo2195 Working on your own amps puts you in the minority (welcome!) and only confers limited expertise on the subject of component design, failure statistics and the ability to save money on your own repairs. But using tour own logic, why not “eliminate the risk” entirely and replace all of those pesky pots, resistors and especially those 40 year old broken down transformers? If you want to head off any possible disaster, don’t just do a half-asses job. Put your money where your mouth is!

    Ok thanks , so you ran your amp into the power station but didnt need to hook the power station up to a cab ? So you can use the power station as a load box and not need a cab ? Sorry i just ordered one and i didnt know that could be done i thought it had to be hooked to cab and use as an attenuator only . Am i correct that you can use it as load with no cab or am i missing somthing ? Either way great piece of gear steve is a genius! Thank you for any help

    Correct. You can use it as a standalone load only. If you're really cranking your amp, it's a good idea to turn the PS power switch on so the fan operates. See "Silent Mode" in the manual. fryette.com/content/Power_Station_PS2A_Manual.pdf
