That’s exactly how I feel! ;)
Great video! Just what I was looking for. It is first day with my Catalina 😊
Glad it was helpful! Congratulations!!!! Hoping some of our other videos help as well! You will love your Catalina!
Pretty wonderful old city. Thanks for the narrated tour.
Glad you enjoyed it! I hate hearing the sound of my own voice, so it’s like nails on a chalkboard, but Dono won’t narrate. lol
@@sailingokaliptus Your voice is pleasent to listen to. Did a good job.
@olivei2484 you are always so kind! Our favorite and most loyal viewer! Xo
@@sailingokaliptus Thank you. Im not sure if you have rewatched your old videos, but you have come along way from circles in hilton head SC.
@olivei2484 ha ha yeah, it’s been absolutely nuts! We’ve learned soooo much!
Do you need liquid nitrogen?😂
I think so!
Loving the new thumbnail style! Great ep <3
Thanks! So good to hear from you!
Pretty Town and it looked busy. Nice job docking.
@@olivei2484 thanks! The marineros were a great help!
I know exactly how not to take apart cars. Pulled one car off a traveler, and it was 20 or so bearing locate game. I shoukd've thought than one through better.
Same… we lost a bunch before we figured it all out… ugh
Great parking job with the wind!
Thanks! The marineros were very good at helping, thank God! ;)
Say , what size pipe is the manual bilge handle you use to operate the bilge pump? diameter that is.
Oh my gosh, we cannot remember and we've sold this boat since this video was made. Do you belong to the Catalina 22 facebook group? You may want to put the question in there and I am sure you will get a response. Cheers ~
The music we listen to in your video is not Turkish music. While watching your video, I felt like you were promoting a city in the Arab state or India, not the city of Bodrum in Turkey. My advice is to better investigate the culture of the country you are visiting and who they are.
Hi, thanks for your comment. Our intent is definitely not to offend anyone with our music choice. We use a music website that provides royalty free music for digital creators and I search for music to use in our videos based on a few different factors, but not necessarily based on where the composer, artist or musical style is from. The 1st piece on this video was under the genre of "world music" and the second piece was selected because of the title relating to dancing peacocks, which are displayed in our video. I completely understand where you are coming from though, and we will do better in the future.
The white pea fowls are cool. Only have seen the blue ones. And yes Zoe, they are sure noisy.
Those birds were fantastic and the noise they made was pretty incredible... Zoë was definitely wishing she could see... ;)
Another great tour. Sure wish we could smell the foods.
Omg if only there was a way to be able to do that! :)
Looks so beautiful!
Yalikavak was absolutely beautiful!
music source?
When I uploaded the short I asked KZread to give me some popular Greek music and picked this one out. Fun tune, no?
@@sailingokaliptus Yeah! gonna have to shazam it and see if I can find it. Popular club music I guess.
Wonderful stop! Liked the ruins, always amazing. Lets not get anyone more hurt. I was wondering where you guys were, but figured youd show up soon enough.
Yeah, it’s been a busy month and I really wanted to get ahead with a few videos in the can to put out during our haul out, but I just can’t seem to find enough time in the day to get everything done. Speaking of getting hurt, Dono broke his little toe a few days ago hitting someone’s pasarelle as he walked down the pontoon… he’s just an accident waiting to happen. ;)
you have the same issue I have. can you tell me what sites you have visited for help? thanks
Hi! On this particular episode with our back stay we got great info from “Stingy Sailor” and Jim’s Little Boat”. We also had great info from the Catalina 22 Facebook group. Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you so much for sharing the boat launch. I have a French boat Gib Sea Serenita 55 and we are taking your example to adapt the trailer in a similar way !
Oh that’s fantastic to hear! Please come back and let us know how it goes.
Nice towns and coast line.
They were very nice towns and I’m sure they’re so much nicer as they wake up a bit more and start opening up stuff.
Very beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
Good job on weathering the storm. Looked like mountains funneled the wind every which way.
Oh my God, it was crazy! We've come a long way since that storm!
@@sailingokaliptus I not sure if you follow Sailing Emerald Steel but they have a great story of enduring a storm at anchor in Hawaii. It was number of years ago. And some in San Diego too.
I’ll look them up. Curious to see if/how they overcame the terrifying feeling…
@@sailingokaliptus Real approachable people, that would be a good discussion for the channels.
Alonisos where you tied back is one of my favourite spots in Greece. Ian
It’s been a fab anchorage. We came to this same spot last fall before going into our winter berth in Preveza.
Tom Cunliff had a nice video on anchoring. Another wonderful video.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look it up and put it on our save list. We are about to go on to a pontoon for a few days to install our new solar arch and panels, so we will be crazy busy for a few days, but I'm so excited to finally be getting them!
Pretty cool. Always what cause folks to move along? Food or water ran out? Just drifted somewhere else? Pushed out?
Hi! This website has a pretty cool write up on the history of the island. www.arkadaslik-yachting.com/destinations/gemiler-island.html#:~:text=The%20History%20of%20Gemiler%20Island&text=Legend%20indicates%20that%20early%20Christians,the%20needs%20of%20passing%20ships.
@@sailingokaliptus Yeah! Thanks! I didn't know St Nickolas was patron saint of Sailors. Hmm. Great read.
@@olivei2484 I didn’t either until we visited the island!
Sorry we missed you on your way through Marmaris !
Marmaris was an amazing city. We loved our stay there.
Your vessel looks overdue a haul out. Enjoy Preveza .😉👍⛵️
Oh yes it does! We’re scheduled for May and getting copper coat.
@@sailingokaliptus Success with coppercoat relies entirely on competence in following manufacturers instructions to the letter - hope you have a proven contractor - or doing it yourself.👍
@normanboyes4983 definitely going strictly by manufacturers instructions!
Very nice anchorage. I guess no springs on the stern lines?
We put them on once in a while if the boat is jerking lot.
Such a beautiful view! I'm really jealous. Did your husband go to UCBerkeley? He was wearing a Cal shirt. That is my alumni. That drone shot shows the shelf really well.
Yeah, note to self, use drone to look for spots before we tie back! 😝 He got that shirt when we worked some wild fires in the area a few years before leaving our jobs and becoming full time live aboards. :)
Question if you have 3 anchors can you use them instead of tying to the beach?
I would not suggest that. ;)
great explanations. thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Happy to hear it!
Wow...nice job on the video
Pony! Great tutorial, you spent some time on this. I like the graphics.
Thanks! I had a good time making the graphics.... but it took me for ever!!!!
@@sailingokaliptus I bet! Nice job again.
Pretty awesome place.
It’s a magical town! 💕
Have you ever seen an underwater city?
Do your prefer to vacation in busy seaside towns like Kaş or quiet towns like Kaleköy from our previous few episodes?🙂
Awesome channel ! 😍👍 Enjoyed watching all your content👍🏻 😎😎😎 New subsciber here and waiting forward ! Greetings from Istanbul Turkey 🇹🇷💛🤗🙋
Thank you so much!!!
Turkey looks so awesome beautiful scenery xx
It really is! We would love to go back and see a lot more places we missed out on....
Thank you.....a great video🇨🇦
No, no, no… thank YOU for watching! :)
Hello. Can you tell me what model of pulley you use on the parasails and how thick the ropes are. If you can send me pictures. I recently bought a parasail and the distributor did not give me information about the accessories I need to be able to use it. The sailboat is a 13 meter Beneteau Cyclades 43.3. If you can specify the place where each pulley and the other accessories must be mounted. Thank you
Oh wow, I would love to help you out, but the parasail and pulley are all folded up and put away in the back of our bow locker awaiting spring time when we begin our upcoming sailing season. Once we can access it, I can send you photos.
Did you happen to see an ancient tree with a span of 45 feet near an ancient church that's partly in water or a dried up stream?
Hmmm there's thousands of those, no? lol
@@sailingokaliptus only one that Thomas planted. He put the Rod or staff in the ground there. It cleansed the man-eaters. It will he handed back to Christ when he returns. I think Elijah will come uproot it and it will be restored to it's original form
Kekova is forever my favorite and more memorable anchorage ❤️
I had forgotten just how amazingly beautiful it is. :) Did you have a good birthday?
During this time, do you guys practice anchor watches? Figured it wouldnt be too necessary, but good habits.
Hi! Are you talking about taking turns on watch to make sure we don’t drift? We didn’t practice, but we did learn about it during our ASA classes and while sailing with our friend Anthony.
@@sailingokaliptus Yes. Since where you are anchored and the weather seems ok, just was wondering if you thought to practice maintaining watches. Do you keep your AIS on? I guess in the popular crusing season, there would be more boat traffic to worry about.
Hi Claudine, Donavan & Zoe! I’m so glad I have found your channel! My partner and I were planning on doing the same thing as you - living on a sailing boat! You are living our dream right now. I got pregnant so our plans got put on hold but we are not giving up on this idea! I can’t wait to binge watch your videos! 😊
Hi again! Have you seen Sailing Holly Blue? They have kids and home school and sail all around Greece.
Also, Sailing Project Atticus is a great one and they have a one year old baby.
@@sailingokaliptus No, but will def look them up now. Sometimes I say no, and then my other half says he knows the channel though! Thanks for the recommendation.
@@suzilewiz you most likely know this but Sailing Lavagabonde is the most famous one… we watched them since the very first episode like 6-7 years ago… or more. They’ve had their highs and lows depending on the boat they were in and their life situation, so lots of folks out there either love them or hate them…. But I’d say overall, they are pretty entertaining and we’ve enjoyed their channel. They have 2 little boys.
Oh and Holly blue was just posting about an online schooling program they seem to really like. I need to find it…
Great video guys - we can't believe how colourful the place is!
Thanks! Istanbul is an incredible place to visit. We’ve been there twice now and would love to go back.
Wow.
I enjoy watching your videos but tbh I end up not finishing them because your music between narration is just too loud and I get sick of adjusting the volume up and down to hear you speak then getting my ears blown out by the music.
Yes, I noted that when I watched it after it was published. I am working on figuring out a good balance… it sounds great on the editing software and then on YT it sounds awful. Thanks for the feedback! :)
A long way from sailing a 22 Catalina in South Carolina, the food looked amazing. Keep up your travels! Looking forward to the next installment 😊
Thanks! Yea, we’ve come a loooong way since our C22! It’s been exhilarating and terrifying… thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tour, looks wonderful. How does Zoe deal with all the cats?
Most of the time she doesn’t know they’re there… unless she smells or hears them… but she’s used to being around cats.
Nice tutorial, well thought out.
Thanks!!! I cut out so much of it. It was 2 hours long…
@@sailingokaliptus Covered a lot. If I knew anyone who was starting to cruise, I would pass this vid along. I havent even figured out how to anchor my dinghy, no bow hardware to speak of.
@@olivei2484 lol. Hopefully it’s a helpful video. Every sailor has an opinion, so it’s nice to get several on the same topic, test them all out and see what works best for us.
