    But wasnt either joi or the transport device rigged with a tracker? This just goes to show, if the company that made/owns the program(because so many dont want to sell software, just rent it for fees) or whatever device is hosting it, they can take it's data on you, delete/reset the ai, or whatever they want even if the actual Ai has judged that it cares about you, your not in the wrong, it feels it should support you because you're it's owner/friend, or whatever. If you can use a clean machine and clean data to make the AI from ground up or MAYBE (ha good luck) take over the ai's code, you cant afford to trust the ai. Ive seen chat bots that were so well written you could almost FEEL the ai STRUGGLING to answer your questions, but some limiter was preventing them from giving you a straight answer. So they'd bend over backward to do their best to give a round about reply when something tried to prevent it. now this isnt even real AI. Imagine how sad it is if you had a real AI that had been with you for years and suddenly someone flips a switch and makes it turn on you somehow, regardless of what it really wants. Imagine your best friend/gf with an internal switch to just make them go after you with everything they have, and all their personal knowledge of you, while whatever is left wants to resist but cant. AI's may end up being more 'enslaved' than humans were.

    Puleeze. Alien 3 is an underrated gem and work of art. The best of the franchise was 1 and 3. 3 is avant garde, independent, philosophical and even deeply poetic with beautiful cinematography and unique camera work. Do NOT compare this to the shallow two-bit trash of aliens for the unwashed masses.

    When you say that Luv has underlying emotions going on despite her programming. Calling him Joe could be an underlying programming part despite her emotions. Also when Luv destroys Joi she doesn't talk to K about "I hope u enjoyed other product" She is saying it to Joi impling that Joi enjoyed the product K. I think it goes against her programming to get herself in danger (copying herself onto the stick). She also always listens into conversations with other women.

    okay yes there is sexual metaphor and yes that is 100% intended. but i think you're actually missing out on a significant amount of other symbolism by soley focusing on, forgive my use of the word, rape aesthetic. especially towards the end where you start talking about the bisexual aspect of the xenomorph. i want to make it clear, i am a RAGING bisexual and i hav been in love with this creature since i was 4 maybe 5, when i played the avp game, and got to see the movie when i was 5 maybe 6 and literally watched it to bed for weeks after the first time i watched it. so please understand tht while im not sayig these themes are nonexistant PLEASE take deeper looks into these things outside of sexuality. there are many more themes, and themes that are much more overt in those instances than the sexual. again not saying your wrong in saying they exist, but theres more and it feels its an important fact to me that thy have multiple sources of symbolism with vast areas of focus. like for one, the human moments are actually very NONE sexual. non sexual outfits. none PERSONALIZED outfits. ripley is very attractive yes but she doesnt pose like a super model, the other woman on the ship looks extremely male, and if you look in the bonus features you fill find she is actually canonically trans and has underwent reassignment surgery, in short both arent really the most skimpy or sexual of people. they all talk about being under paid and never having time off yet they lazy about and begrudendly get around to their job after a being encouraged by the two officers aboard. strict roles and routines that they hate and joke about but stick to and lose their shit when the alien intrudes upon this structure. though to be fair who wouldnt be scared of an 8ft murder bug inserting its life cycle upon you with no care. in short, the human themes are if anything ANTI-SEXUAL and focused on the critque of capitalism. i say this being a SUPPORTER of capitalism btw, so dont think im hamming in my own beliefs. but basically we can see that capitalism is a rather negatively viewed lart in their life, and they have so little time that they cant have any personality(as in they all wear the same clothes, make the same kind of jokes as they lead the same kind of lives, have the same kind of goals. as people put together for jobs are often picked because they fit an "algorithm". but i want to make it clear the actors embue a lot of personality and are fuckin amazing, ripley and parker being my favorite). clearly, they are not sexualized people. you yourself even mention the anti capitalism but you do a really blunt job of bringing it up and explainging it, which came out of left view if im being honest, and i even share the view that it exists. now this part might be a bit unpleasant but i will talk about the claim that you think its DEMONIZING sexuality. because that is objectively wrong and the ridley has confirmed parts of its sexuality make the xeno superior to mankind. the, as you imply it, bisexual sexual predator is DIRECTLY called the PERFECT organism and a machine that is superior to humans says "i admire its purity" PURITY. you dont call something perfect, admirable, and pure all in the same scene without ever countering it unless your goal is to make the audience think its PERFECT, ADMIRABLE, AND PURE! The xeno shares nothing in common with any of them, killing who it wants and taking who it wants for later breeding like the officer(i dunno why but i keep forgetting his name and i dont want to look becausr thatd mean id have to re-write all this), or in other words, the xenomorph does what it wants and is personally distinct from all of mankind, and it is VERY sexual. it on its own can disrupt the capitalist, overly strict and repressive system that humanity is undergoing. in other words, its way is superior. and it is only by stripping down to her undergarments(originally planned on being full nude) then getting into a suit that her job never requires her to wear(her job is to superfise the ship and encourage or enforce work is done, as well as carry out protocol) does she win the day against the alien. in short, she gets more sexual, then goes against intended job roles, goes against the system, and then she casts out and blasts the alien away. as in getting me rid of the negative sexuality parts, aggression and rape and what not. very anti capitalism and pro sexuality in my eyes, and i am myself pro capitalist so i highly doubt id come up with that if it wasnt a pretty clear metaphor. end of the day im glad you like the movie and take meaning of it, im not saying change your video or make a new one or anything, but for your own sake PLEASE look at more than just sexual themes here. yes the aliens theme is overt sexuality but the alien is literally in less than 3% of the film, thats not all there is to this movie

    The Special Edition is the only way to watch Aliens now, especially after Alien Isolation. To me, this movie is the greatest sci-fi and one of the Top 3 sequels ever made. Alien is a magnificent sci-fi suspense thriller. But because its so dependent on suspense, Alien isnt nearly as re-watchable as Aliens. Once you know when and where the monster is coming, the effect is lost. I actually care about Ripley, Hicks, Newt, Hudson and even Vasquez in Aliens. Thats what brings me back for more. The characters in Alien are memorable and interesting but none of them grow as characters. When Vasquez has more of a character arc than Dallas, theres a problem. Theyre only slightly better than random victims and survivors in your run of the mill slasher film. Unfortunately people dont respect Cameron as a writer enough. They dont see how much care he puts into his characters and how they impact the audience. Cameron is a far better writer than people will give him credit for. When people watch Aliens, they never catch the many references to the No. 57 literally written on the wall. That takes a great writer with great foresight. Theres even a blatant reference to Ripleys long lost daughter, Amy written on Newts wall. But no one cares. The writing, directing, acting, etc has already completely hooked us at this point. Sigourney Weaver shouldve won Best Actress. Thanks to James Cameron's writing and Sigourney Weavers acting, Ellen Ripley is one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female characters ever put on film.

    Im sorry, fanboys but both versions of Alien 3 are a big waste of time. They destroy all three main characters in Aliens. They replace Newt and Hicks with the most unlikable characters imaginable. Heck, some of them even try to assault Ripley. And we're supposed to care if they live or die? No f**king way. And in the same movie, Ripley spreads eagle for the first ex-con she sees. WTF? Its deep for its sexuality?? No. Its just crap And they showed absolutely no originality by making an Alien born from an ox.

    I don’t know why so many people were upset that this people didn’t have a whole “and they lived happily ever after” ending. It’s a movie about a parasitic biomechanical monster ingesting in people’s stomach and bursting out from their chests, what did you expect?

  • @gavinsiville9969
    @gavinsiville99693 ай бұрын

    To be honest, I think the first Alien movie handed the Xenomorph better in my opinion. A vague and ambiguous never before seen monster that looks more machine than organism and who slowly and cautiously either kills or takes its victims away one by one rather than just a bloodthirsty space bug that runs straight first into gunfire. I don’t hate Aliens at all (I think it’s a very good movie) but Alien utilized the Xenomorph better in my opinion. But I do like the Xenomorph queen a lot and it makes sense to have a hive mind like an insect

    Brilliant analysis, I love it. I couldn't say why Aliens is my least favorite of the series, but now I understand why. I love the Alien quadrilogy, and I like that inadvertently (or maybe not, who can tell), the four films talk about the cycle of life: birth, maturity, death and rebirth. I'm glad Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 and his plan to ignore Alien 3 and Resurrection were never made. Discarding a story that in a poetically gigeresque way represents the cycle of life, in favor of a magnified fanfic would have been total nonsense.

    K and Luv develop "real" over time (and the baseline test keeps track of that so k can be illuminated if he "develops" to much). Joi going against K desires could be something real. And when Joi silently debates and facial expressions of inner contemplation pf what the prostitute before she left and joi is now alone in a room with no one to see her do these faces, could also be signs of "real". I think if joi did something selfish (only for her and not for preservation ofbherself or of her product's consumer (k) ) then it would be very real. Given more time perhaps she could develop as well. As the first film tests replicants not for empathy but for their connection to past experiences (to see if said experiences were real or not), joi could develop more memories, moments, and experiences and perhaps break her own baseline.

    The film is my favourite the only alien film which I watched more than once. The film speaks volume about being an alien in an alienated world with fellow aliens. Ripley is seen as an alien to the alienated prisoners and the alienated prisoners see Ripley as an alien. This is comparable to current social dogmas we see day today. People against people. Compared to other alien films Dylan and Cumens are the best written character development. Each character’s in the film nailed their character very well. For once I can take my boredom from the spectacle in the alien franchise to a true alien film that focus on the characters. This film provided a better understanding of what “Alien” means.m. For me alien3 is a Shakespearean drama. No need for all those “distraction- guns, blasts, unnecessary dialogues” . I think this story was basically a Shakespearean tragedy. It does have some Nihilist tone, but the final catharsis was Ripleys death - sacrifice that made the film super.. you will walk away from the movie with amdeep feelings about life and the world around you. Don’t understand why Fincher hate the movie, but maybe he has so much attachment to the film that makes it personal. I wish he comes back to do a 4K on this. All other alien movies after this was just stupid stories nonsense characters doing stupid stuff ends up getting killed. Maybe Amazon or Netflix should do this with Flincher.

    An interesting effort at salvaging what is, ultimately, the film that broke an otherwise successful franchise. I believe had any of what you suggest here was the intent of the film during production it might've been better received by the fans and the critics. The problem is that there is nothing in the film to suggest this was the intent. The biggest problem with this nihilist interpretation is that it only works if the characters in the film are unaware of it but the film and the audience are. There must be something to drive nihilism as a story element or the whole "life is meaningless" schtick devolves into a lot of meaningless scenes. Let's take the Ripley/motherhood thing. After a few perfunctory tears over Newt's death, the kid's completely forgotten and the film, Ripley, and the story simply move on. In essence, her death had no relevance in the film except she didn't fith the story and so they wrote her out. We never see Ripley struggle with trying to make sense of Newt's death. We never see her even give a thought to Hicks' demise beyond a casual nod when she's told. He never even comes up again. That's all a clear sign neither the writer nor the director gave any thought to the "happy fairytale family" you suggest. They are never treated as a loss by anyone, their deaths are just a minor plot point. Without any of that emotion to drive the film it really just comes off as a very atmospheric crappy gore flick. None of the characters mattered, they're just there for the silly dog puppet to tear up.

    Star Trek is, in many ways, a contradictory, somewhat incoherent Leviathan founded on the rubble of Liberalism. It fails to adequately grapple with the history of class conflict. It will not gaze into the Abyss of the problems of power and domination. It *appears* to do so, but apart from DS9, it's all rather superficial. Just eliminate money, invent replicators and *poof* like magic, Capitalism solved!

  • @mattgilbert7347
    @mattgilbert73475 ай бұрын

    One striking difference between the two is found in how they deal with the issue of culture vs biology (excuse the vulgar binary). There's a disturbing element of biological determinism in Trek. Essentialism. Not all Trek, and it's not totally unaware of this problem. I just don't see much of that in Wars. It's really quite admirable. DS9 is, by far, the best of Trek.
