I emotionally connected with this movie because sometimes people won't just get the fuck out of my house.

On an immediate level I really connected with the biblical allegory of this movie. More what it says about the destructive but necessary nature of believing in a higher power (maybe not even specifically religion). I found it very moving...

So I saw Mother like a month or so back, and just saw this. I really focused on the religious side of it and how cynical it was of the relationship between God and Mother Nature. For some reason the general toxic nature of Men and Women in modern life really never hit me until this video. I have waaaay more to talk about with people with this movie now. Thank you!

I haven't seen mother! yet (but will come back to watch this after I fix that when my MoviePass arrives) so I skipped to the end for announcements and was not disappointed. I'm very much looking forward to your Alien 3 essay because I finally watched it for the first time and it was a far better film than I had been led to believe (at least the longer Special Edition version that I watched was). I thought it provided a thematically consistent and fitting end to Ripley's arc, despite (or perhaps because of) the fact that it was bleak as fuck. I also just started watching Twin Peaks for the first time and look forward to hearing your thoughts on that series as well. Keep up the good work!

Oh man, I hope Twin Peaks clicks with you, because if it does, it's one hell of a crazy ride. I could talk endlessly about Twin Peaks. And yeah, the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 is the way to go. The theatrical barely functions as a movie, sadly, although there are a pair of alternate scenes in it that you may or may not prefer.

The Long Take ohh ok. It's funny you mention those two in relation to each other because Haneke and Aronofsky had a filmed conversation together a few years ago which was pretty interesting. Anyways awesome video!
