Tank straps, bcd check, reg check, are all things each diver should be doing for themselves. Buddy weights and gear releases are a quick visual check.

I see fins in the ground. Does PADI allow skills while not in trim or not neutrally buoyant? Why are fin tips touching the bottom on a pro level demonstration?

You forgot multiple things which are importand when checking the bcd use the inflator with the mouth aswel. With checking the mouthpice smell the air first when checking the air both should use first and secondaire mouthpice from one set to check Ps thats how i am learning the divemaster course

I had to do this once when my 1st stage froze and my primary and octo both began free flowing. My tank emptied out shortly after I hit the surface. Luckily I was only down around 30 feet.

That demonstration used all the advantages of a steel cylinder and a weight belt. I don’t think that’s the configuration that most students have. Most are using aluminum cylinder and may have a weight integrated BCD. If that is the case, it is much more difficult to do this skill. I’d like to see a demonstration with an aluminum cylinder and a weight integrated BCD and see how fluid it looks. I’ll be watching and waiting for that video.

There are cases where an LPI button can get stuck (e.g. when not cleaned in fresh water after a dives in salt water). If that happens, the BCD will fully inflate and make you very positively boyant and send you to the surface in an uncontrolled manner (too fast). So its good to practice disconnecting the LPI as a basic skill.

@@boggycreekmafia8124I was wonder the same, Why would you even need to do that....Never heard of a LPI button failing but I guess it could happen but I think the video needs to be about 10 second longer showing you deflating the over inflated BCD, calling the dive and heading to the surface and reconnecting the hose at the surface or manually inflating the bcd. If you are disconnecting hoses under water, lots of stuff happening and none of it is very good.

Very good, simple and conseist. My only concern is that you should never open valves to the stop, always back it off a little bit. So, fully open, back a quarter of a turn. If its on the stops, and we dive, it could get stuck in the open position.
