Looks like I got Ripped off. I paid 1800.00 plus for one and after I had it for a couple of months I was looking it over and it was made of about 3/4 inch strips glued together. Never again.

Hi, Mr Marton. To paint the guitar body I used a filler and I sanded the surfaces until they were smoot like a plank of glass. Then I applied a little bit of walnut brown aniline color just to break the natural red of the mahogany. After that I simply sprayed 4 or 5 coats of matte transparent nitro varnish. Concerning the maple neck I colored it by red, brown and a hint of yellow aniline mixed for reaching a close color as the body and then the same 5 coats of matte transparent nitro varnish. To spray the paint I used a high quality of spray tin can varnish for coachbuilders. I hope I have been clear and I apologize for my really poor english. Have a fun D.I.Y. and greetings fro Italy!

you could have cut it in half vertically from the side and maybe have had enough for 2 guitars, kind of a wast of wood there. for the rest great build

Hi Roblox, I measured the wood thickness before starting to work and unfortunally there wasn't matter enough for two bodies. I thought to cut it in any case and save the wood for a future project but I also had the problem that the carpenter close to my home was closed and I haven't a big saw ... anyway I'm happy if the clip will be usefull. Many many thanks for watching.

At 100 dollars per hour, you get exactly what you want the same way they were built by Leo's boys and girls. If you buy a 40 dollar body, make sure you get the 65 dollar neck, too. That way, you get exactly what you can buy on Ebay from China or Indonesia. Right on, DIY Guitars! Keep up the good work!

Good job! Looks great. How did you create the holes for wiring from the pickups to the controls?
@diyguitarsandmore45382 жыл бұрын
Hi Sal, To make the wiring hole I used a long drill bit called "Auger". You can easily find some pics of it on the net. It is a very delicate operation because there is long path to do compared to the thin thickness of the body. Better if you have a big press drill equiped with a good clamping system for the body. Bye and thanks for watching.

what does the switch do ??
@diyguitarsandmore45382 жыл бұрын
Hi Mr Stan, I'll try to answer you with my really poor english: the switch changes the guitar sound because a smart wiring set by Leo Fender during his early production when the cost of the pickup was crucial to define the price of the guitar. There are capacitors and resistances connected inside in a certain way for obtaining a quite good sumulation of the neck pickup presence and sound. It works and it made happy a lot of poor bluesmen they hadn't the possibility to afford a more sophisticated guitar equipped with two pickups. The esquire gives three peculiar sounds and nice feeling in playing. Bye an thanks you for watching.
