Wow, what I enjoy most is watching the person create a gorgeous guitar with all the intricate steps they did, well I seen the steps. What I didn't see is the person perform the steps, I did see a person in total about one minute. Could he be the person that created this beautiful guitar? I don't know because I didn't see him make this guitar, so thanks for showing me a guitar be built by an invisible person.

Good job! Looks great. How did you create the holes for wiring from the pickups to the controls?
@diyguitarsandmore4538
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sal, To make the wiring hole I used a long drill bit called "Auger". You can easily find some pics of it on the net. It is a very delicate operation because there is long path to do compared to the thin thickness of the body. Better if you have a big press drill equiped with a good clamping system for the body. Bye and thanks for watching.

Hi Roblox, I measured the wood thickness before starting to work and unfortunally there wasn't matter enough for two bodies. I thought to cut it in any case and save the wood for a future project but I also had the problem that the carpenter close to my home was closed and I haven't a big saw ... anyway I'm happy if the clip will be usefull. Many many thanks for watching.

Hi Camilo. Just an experiment to understand if it is true that a maple neck makes the sound brighter than one made of mahogany. Unfortunally I still don't have an answer because I don't have a second guitar with mahogany neck to compare! I'll make another one ... bye!

Hi, Mr Marton. To paint the guitar body I used a filler and I sanded the surfaces until they were smoot like a plank of glass. Then I applied a little bit of walnut brown aniline color just to break the natural red of the mahogany. After that I simply sprayed 4 or 5 coats of matte transparent nitro varnish. Concerning the maple neck I colored it by red, brown and a hint of yellow aniline mixed for reaching a close color as the body and then the same 5 coats of matte transparent nitro varnish. To spray the paint I used a high quality of spray tin can varnish for coachbuilders. I hope I have been clear and I apologize for my really poor english. Have a fun D.I.Y. and greetings fro Italy!

You could just buy thinner wood, but if your blank is that thick, you'll most likely have to waste all of that. When it comes to thicknessing it though, you can use a router suspended over it with a gliding table type thing, or you can use a fence on a band saw to saw down to a line roughly, then sand or hand plane to the line.
